I absolutely love this primer! I just finished up my first tube of it and didn’t really realize how much it helped until I did my makeup without it today for the first time since the summer. I originally bought this because over the summer, no matter how much powder I was using on my face, my skin just wouldn’t get matte, not even a slight bit. It just smells really strong as you’re applying it but then it goes away after it absorbs into the skin.

I love Nars products but this one did not work for me. I have oily skin and like to use primer daily for work (no other makeup on my skin). Within 2hrs my face was shiny. I blot throughout the day but found my skin looking as if I was sweating. I at one point just used some tissue and water to wipe it off my face completely while at work. I did give this product 3 trys but just wasn't right for my face.

Sits well on my skin after serums and moisturiser and then really aids in the smooth application of the Nars soft matte foundation. There is a little bit of an almost floral smell but I enjoy it. Doesn’t dry matte but helps smooths my face and even it out.

As I use Nars foundation I thought this primer would be the one to try alongside them. Does a good job but undecided if it’s better than any other brand. Does leave my skin looking fab but unsure if that’s the primer or the foundation…
Don't let the name fool you! Soft matte primer feels hydrating, yet soft and matte. It actually makes my skin feel calmer and improved just by wearing it! It holds my makeup in place all day and look so natural. I highly recommend this primer to my friends and clients.
This is the best primer I’ve tried in a while! It’s great if you’ve got oily skin or large pores. Makes my makeup stay on much better all day and not separate due to to oil after a few hours. Also stops my makeup oxidising.
This is a beautiful primer. This primer should have been called creamy, soft focus effect not matte. It takes down shine but doesn’t look velvety compared to a traditional matte primer. Doesn’t show any dry, flaky spots and It holds my makeup better under the masks also. I have normal skin btw and I would anticipate it would work for even dry up to combo but maybe not excessively oily.
A few years back, I went through two tubes of NARS' Soft Matte tinted moisturizer (maybe they called it a skin tint; I can't quite remember), which held up in New Orleans in May while I was on a research trip for work... then they discontinued it. Anyway, I recently wondered if the face primer would have similar results to the tinted moisturizer and it DOES. I use it under Unseen Sunscreen or City Block, and it layers well with products as long as you let them set a little between applications. I also use a moisturizer under the primer itself. (At present, that's one of Glossier's.) But it might be possible to use this as a moisturizer in a pinch?I like the finish the whole combination gives me; it just looks like not-shiny skin. As a certified "grease ball" I can attest that this formula is the best! My makeup does not budge from the time I apply it in the morning until I get home from school at 9pm. I also like that my face doesn't feel dry or feel stiff after application.
I am not sure if it's this primer or the urban decay all nighter spray or the combination of both but WOW. I use both with the NARS sheer glow foundation and I am in love!! My makeup looks sooo good and stays put! I am new to NARS products and so far I am really happy. I will for sure be buying more products!!
