Take it as soon as you begin to feel funky, the sooner the better. Do not chew or swallow whole. The effectiveness of the zinc lozenge would be lost if administered in that way. The wild berry flavor is pleasant and soothing. This is a vegan supplement. I like to have zinc lozenges on hand so they can be taken right away at the first sign of a scratchy throat.
