1st day of playing tried purchasing VC and it said error - failed. So I tried purchasing again and it went through but I got double charged. The 2nd day playing in career mode at the end of a game it dashboarded me and every time I load back in it took me to the same game and always at the end it would dashboard me. Anything I did to try and leave the game would result in getting dashboarded. Then my player file got corrupted and couldn't even load in. 8 days of dealing with support got me nowhere. So I had spent $100 on a game I only intended to spend $80 and I couldn't even play. Tech support never reads the back notes on my issue and apparently only reads the most recent update to my support issue so was an endless circle of going nowhere. I just purchased this game and didn't realize that you need to purchase a Micro SD card as well to play the game. The game requires a download to take place which exceeds the Switch internal memory capacity. Therefore external memory is required. It does say this on the cover of the game, however I didn't read the 'fine prints'! Just be aware that you will need to spend more money to actually play the game. You can play the game without the download, but it is a simple version of the game without all the fancy features. The game is fun, not easy for young kids.

- Mirror image of last years copy. Just with updated rosters (which you can do on 2k19 manually).- Online features are buggy and connection is lost quite frequently (nothing new there).- Park is dead quiet. ALSO THE EXACT SAME AS LAST YEAR.- In game transactions litter the game. Chasing that 99 overall? Be prepared to buy "boosts" to get there for a short time. 99 stats in everything is impossible.- Archtype system merely limits you even more to your build- Been over 8 updates since launch and game is still broken- Rated G, but essentailly a gambling game with MyTeam- If you want a game for christmas, get Modern Warfare. At least there is regular updates THAT IMPROVE THE GAME.

Nba 2k20 is the only basketball game based off the NBA for this season.\n\tThe game has different modes for all basketball fans. It has play now for the NBA and WNBA for people that want to play a quick game with either your friend or against a computer. Its most popular mode is MyCareer which allows you to create a player and go through a storyline while playing in the NBA. You can get endorsements and also gain fans. Inside of MyCareer is The Neighborhood which you can shop for virtual items for your player or compete against other people online. Another mode is MyLeague which lets you be the GM of an NBA and try to get your team to win the championship. It will only cause stress on you as the online servers are not good, the game does not reflect realistically on basketball, and to get good on the online modes you will have to spend money on top of the money you already spent on the game. \n

The gameplay is still there, but they've upped the grind to goad
13 December 2019

I played (and really liked) 2K19, so I was eager to get stuck into 2K20.I'm mainly a My Career player and don't play much of the online stuff, so the mechanics and things are smooth, it's fun actually playing ball... But the huge focus on VC and grinding to make your player better - which has been a thing for at least a few years but has been dialled up *a tonne* this year - makes it an incredibly frustrating game. You play a game, train a couple of skills (usually repeating the same drill over and over because you're targeting a badge), it levels up a tiny amount, rinse, repeat. It's super monotonous and it seems that 2K are trying to bore you into spending money on VC in order to fast-forward your progress. It's super monotonous and it seems that 2K are trying to bore you into spending money on VC in order to fast-forward your progress. I don't mind spending a little on VC to cut some of this out, but your money goes nowhere near as far as it has in the past. This coupled with the forced advertisements everywhere (e.g. You can't skip a timeout until you've seen the Gatorade bit at the start) makes it feel like a money-grabbing 2K19 refresh. The neighbourhood, the shops, everything feels much the same, so you wonder what was actually achieved since the last release. There was certainly grinding in 2K19, but it's so much worse in 2K20 that I tired of it really fast and didn't play it past the first couple of weeks. I think that this is a turning point in the 2K franchise and they really need to step up the game next year if they want people to continue buying games in this series. I won't be buying 2K21. EA has a big opportunity to fill this spot.My advice is to avoid this game and buy 2K19.

[Rewarded Review] For real ballers!
26 June 2020

This was a 50th birthday gift for my boyfriend, who used to play college ball, but blew out his knees. He loves this game! I've even found him playing during work Zoom meetings. So many of the special features that give your player a life off the court are wonderful. He's so into it that for Father's Day we got him his own custom NBA jersey to wear when he plays. During the pandemic, this really helps us as a family with our basketball withdrawal. Our daughter also plays basketball, and we look forward to the day that there are options to make your own player for the WNBA. She and her dad love challenging each other to WBNA and NBA games. A real birthday gift winner. He keeps thanking us for this gift.

[Rewarded Review] Great Game With One Flaw
3 January 2020

I love the NBA 2K series. I played all the way back on the 360 and have owned pretty much every year’s edition since then. I’ve always gotten them for Xbox though.Since I find that I have more ability and time to play the Switch now, I bought this iteration for the Switch. It’s a great port. The graphics are really good - especially considering the hardware it is running on. It’s a great basketball game for the road. The problem is that it runs at 30fps, not 60fps like the other consoles. This might not sound like a big problem but everything feels slightly laggy. For casual play it’s fine. If you’re looking to play this as your main basketball game, however, it’s harder to recommend.I still have lots of fun with this version of NBA 2K, because it is amazing to ... MoreI love the NBA 2K series. If you’re sitting at home in front of your TV the vast majority of the time, however, then I would recommend sticking with either the Xbox One or PS4 version.

[Rewarded Review] Great game play too many microtransactions
24 December 2019

This year is a mixed bag for me with 2k20. The game play has been patched many times and now at Xmas, it seems to be mostly ironed out. I play mostly myteam, which can be quite expensive micro transaction wise to keep up with people who no-life the game. Mycareer is unfortunately still bug filled and is full of greifers who complain about others, which I usually avoid. I play strictly nba on my career and steer clear of playground mostly, so my experience has been good. Myteam has been the most rewarding ever with the evo-cards and no money spent is actually a thing. If you come into the game now, you can get a lot of great cards relatively cheap as opposed to launch day when things are super expensive, so overall, it's a good time to come back or start.

[Rewarded Review] Great simulation basketball game
15 October 2019

NBA 2K has long passed NBA Live as the top tier NBA basketball videogame. And with their dominance, they've also experienced the hate that often follows a brand that is the dominate #1. Many reasons for this, but mostly it's because there are so many people who play/own the game and we all know the negative opinions are louder than the positive. NBA 2K has deserved most of the negativity by being one of the industry's most prevalent "pay to win" with microtransactions. Add to the weak servers and you have many, many frustrated fans. However, if you're one to not do much online play, the franchise mode (My GM) is the way to go. The fluidity of the gameplay is excellent and the realism is there both on defense and offense. It's a fun game, period.

[Rewarded Review] Perfect for Casual Gamers
1 April 2020

I’ll be honest from the beginning I am not a basketball fan, but I do like playing the video games. For me the gameplay, graphics, sounds and player interactions are immersive. When I play the game, people walk by and actually think I’m watching a real game. The controls are easy to learn and I can play a quick game at the start.I don’t personally care about who is on the roster or building my own team or stuff like that (check other reviews for that). Team customizations, coaching style, etc are there (I just don’t use them). The game for me is all about just being able to play a quick game of basketball and blowing off some steam. So that being said, the game works for casual gamers.
