2K23 exceeded all my expectations

I was really excited to see that NBA 2K23 was on sale just in time for the holidays. NBA 2K graphics have never looked better, and the in-game mechanics are ultra smooth! The all new Jordan Challenge is really fun to play, MyTeam is completely revamped, and the game now features more complete historical rosters than ever before. If you're unsure about buying it, don't hesitate!

Same old 2K with next gen touches. VC prices are outrageous! As a full-time worker I don't have the time to grind out MyCareer builds and badges but the price for a maxed out build is ridiculous this year (300k VC minimum), inflation clearly hit 2K too. I play MyCareer exclusively and the story aspect is far too integrated, I just want to hoop but they are going down an RPG route. I want to pick up and play a couple games after a stressful day, not do fetch quests and fashion walks. I admire the effort but give players an option to just play. Literally, some games can't be played until you do a quest, what did I pay for? Skyrim? Also, maybe its just me but there is so much restricted behind PS+ online play. I can't even get shots up at the Gatorade Facility without ... MoreSame old 2K with next gen touches. VC prices are outrageous! Now I'm happy to pay PS+ but most of my friends don't game when I do so I'm paying for a single player experience anyway since the matchmaking is hopeless. Don't even get me started on playing Rec online with randoms. Can't comment on MyTeam or that other BS, I've been a MyCareer purist since 2K13. However, after 10 years of 2K, it is nice to see more realism with foot planting and adrenaline bars so people can't just dribble cheese. Either way, I'm probably going to buy 2K next year and the year after until they get some decent competition but I most definitely will not be paying another £100 to max out a build after paying for the game. I would hope that games start to follow Call Of Duty's footsteps (not something I thought I'd be saying) and move away from yearly releases (sports games especially). Release every 2 years and have seasons where mini updates keep the game alive like Fortnite and Warzone.Smyths service in store was good, smooth collection and good price.

NBA 2K23 standard edition for Xbox One is a great game! The graphics are very good and so is the soundtrack. I do not play the online modes so I cannot comment on that. As for the offline mode of MyLeague, the game play is solid. The MyGM mode allows users to manage the team and front office issues. There is even a mode featuring WNBA teams. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Great game from a great series. Hope to one day get a third in the series and have a conclusion.

The Darkness is based on the indie comics of the same name but you don't have to read the comics prior to playing this game. This game is its own beast and I guarantee you'll have a blast with it. While it does look like a game from 2007 it still plays great, worldbuilding immerses you and the attention to detail in many things is perfect. The sequel does things a bit better but also loses some of the first game's features and charm too. If you're a fan of FPS games with an interesting story then you'll enjoy The Darkness.

Great game with its ups and downs
14 February 2023

Easy. Great buy. Great game but MyPlayer mod is a little winded. Wish they would have little less drama and more basketball in the MyPlayer mod. Playing online is great legacy players great. playing your favorite players of all time is awesome. Playing some of the greatest games of past is really good. The great quality out rules the drawbacks.

NBA 2K23 brings fifteen of Michael Jordan’s most famous games, ripping them from his legendary career and dropping them onto the table. Each game has its own set of challenges to complete, letting you earn stars, and is a fantastic look at the man who flew and his career. The presentation of this section is phenomenal, from the era filters creating accurate looking games, to the coaches and teammates throughout Jordan’s career. Each moment is truly special.

Microtransactions: The Game
18 September 2022

This entire game is designed to push you to buy VC so you can actually be able to play the game and have fun. If you don't spend money on the microtransactions it's a boring, brutal, unrewarding, 100+ hour grind that just isn't fun to play. They drastically reduced the amount of VC you get from playing the game and doing quests, and also dramatically increased the cost of VC to upgrade your player. This should be a free to play game, not a full priced AAA game.

If you ever have played NBA 2k on switch in previous years then you know what your getting here. Another solid basketball game on switch but some crafty developing to make it run pretty decently on switch. With the Jordan challenges added even to the switch version this is def a must buy it your into the most up to date NBA game. I will say this may be the first year that I can tell the switch is struggling to keep up however graphics wise. In order to make this game run they Severely downgrade the facial models of everybody when the camera is zoomed out from the courts so much so that the models look literally like from the psp era but when up close or cutscenes during free throws and replays the game graphics look super good and almost next gen. It's not game breaking just a little immersion breaking and disappointing but they prob have to do this to get this full 2k experience running on a very old tech switch system. Overall the sound the gameplay and graphics overall are still very good and if a big NBA gamer this is still worth getting on switch for on the go! I'm giving it a 7.5 out of ten as your not getting the full next gen experience on switch no eras modes and online mp is last year's cruise ship again no city.

Still have hope
6 March 2023

Initially I was excited to get this game and grind away on MyCareer. Shortly found out that it either takes a good month of daily grinding to level up, or you subject yourself to spending money on VC just to be competitive. The story is a bit ridiculous and takes way too much time away from the court.Additionally, everyone has the same builds these days. So if you’re expecting to be competitive online then you’ll end up having a 3-point contest in every game. The servers are also pretty awful as well. Hopefully next year they fix these items instead of rewarding folks for making cheese builds.

This version is more for the online gamers.

It’s hard! Shooting needs to be easier. The game is designed and marketed for online play. If your a causal player who just wants to have fun with your favorite team… you might want to stick to older versions of the game. I still think 2k18 was the best version they every released. If you are really good with this series than you will like the challenge. I just want to play and have fun so it’s a little too much for me personally.
