Nespresso introduces the Vertuo Next, the latest Vertuo Nespresso coffee maker with an all-new design and colors for the ultimate brewing experience. In addition to its original espressos, it produces an extraordinary cup of coffee with a smooth layer of crema that is the signature of a truly great cup of coffee. Just insert a Vertuo capsule and close the lever - when activated, the capsule spins up to 7,000 rotations per minute, blending ground coffee with water and producing the perfect crema to enjoy quality coffee in larger cup sizes. I so far have found my favorites are the espresso and double espresso sizes. I love the intensity of the brew and it always holds up well to the milk and creamer I add when making iced coffees or cappuccinos. This bundle came with the Aeroccino 3 as well, which is amazing. It’s dead silent (even when I’m standing next to it watching it go, I can’t hear a thing) making it great for me who works early mornings- My housemates never hear a thing despite it whirring away! The Nespresso is a bit louder. I love that the Aeroccino has the option for two different types of foaming— with the whisk for denser cappuccino foam/cold foam or without the whisk for steamed milk and a gentle foam for lattes. I mix milk and creamer for the bubbles and sweetness, and mess with the ratio depending on my mood. The Nespresso does create a foam with each capsule, so if you have a small mug, this might be inconvenient and I tend to spoon it out into the sink. I have also noticed sometimes when steaming milk, the milk can get burnt a bit on the bottom of the Aeroccino, but I wash it after every use and it comes off with a gentle wipe down with soap and water. The whisk is able to be separated for easy cleaning too, and it’s magnetic making it easy to place back into the machine (I stick it on my metal dish rack while it dries). Overall, I haven’t had the machine long enough to attest to its longevity, but I have seen advice to maintain frequently (running cleaning and descaling cycles, emptying the pod disposal system, etc) to give you the best chance of the machine lasting. I definitely recommend the Nespresso (or even just the Aeroccino 3) to avid coffee drinkers who enjoy the ability to make any drink you want from home for a fraction of the cost compared to buying out. The upfront cost seems like a lot, but the machine undoubtedly pays for itself after a few months compared to $4-$8 coffees from coffee chains/shops every day.

2nd Vertuo Next in 2 years; both defective

I purchased my first Next through Costco and really enjoyed it. It came with a good promo of vertuo pods but after about 30-40 days, the machine started leaking. I Bought a descaling kit and ended up wasting that and about 5 additional pods when I found out the device was defective. I exchanged it for a new one at Costco under their return policy and had the second one for about 2 years. The second one I had started to leak out the bottom again. I read online through multiple community pages that this was a common occurrence but never really addressed by Nespresso; Not sure how true this is but I did personally have 2 machine leaking. I contacted support to troubleshoot my machine and after about an hour call, I was told I'll need to get a new machine. I was offered a repair, rebate ($100 a new model excluding Next models) or just the existing promo on Next. My machine suddenly stopped leaking and I used it for about another 2 months and the same issue returned. This entire process has been so frustrating. The amount of pods, descaling kits and time I've wasted trying to maintain two machines that are both defective.I contacted support again just to see if there were any other options but was promptly told the best price is the promo price...Now i'm at a crossroad where I can switch to a competitor but their coffee isn't as superior but I still have over 80 vertuo pods for my machine. The promo price is available to all new and existing customers, so it's nothing special. I do understand my machine is out of warranty but two defective machines in two years is a bit much.I'll have to buy another one to at least get the use out of the pods I currently have. I'm fully expecting to have the same issue as last time. The coffee is great but this vertuo line really needs a redesign. I couldnt justify spending more on a significantly higher model just to potential deal with the same issue again outside of warranty.

Following 3 phone calls to support, multiple video sharing sessions, and ~2 hours of my time wasted, I was offered to spend $65 to repair the machine or apply a 35% discount to a new machine. Prior to contacting support, I took advantage of the Black Friday sale to buy a Vertuo Plus and was told by the representative that the Black Friday discount was the same 35%. Essentially, my options are to spend *more* money to repair this menace of a machine, or my loyalty is rewarded with a discount that the company regularly offers. What?I want nothing to do with the Vertuo Next. The representative told me I can return to machine free of charge in lieu of throwing it in the trash, but I hesitate doing this since I suspect my broken machine will be spruced up and listed as a "Renewed" model to torture another unsuspecting victim. After spending so much money on pods for our household, it's disappointing that Nespresso offers such a sad excuse of service, especially when it's obvious this is a design flaw in the Vertuo Next (seriously, a quick search online will show you that my experience isn't uncommon). When the machine started acting up, I got a Keurig that has been chugging along without an issue. Should I return my recent Vertuo Plus purchase and commit to the reliability of the Keurig? I truly enjoyed the coffee that my Nespresso made, but the price and reliability issues make me consider the Keurig to be superior in many ways.If you are going to buy a Vertuo machine, please listen to the reviews and avoid the Vertuo Next at all cost!

Our electric grid is very stable and reliable, we use softened, reverse osmosis water, so our electric and water should not be an issue, we still have a dinosaur Mr. Coffee machine as an emergency backup. One request for future designs, lose the software button pushing sequence to clean and descale the machine and just add a separate button, I’m and old engineer and to design and add it is nothing, yes it add to production cost, but that can be built into the retail price, giving your customer a better experience.

Continually Breaks :)

I'm on my 2nd Vertuo Next machine within 18 months — both times it has broken out of nowhere. I am METICULOUS with the cleaning & descaling and it doesn't matter...it will just leak, stop working, START SMOKING??? I love Nespresso coffee, seriously, I do. This little machine has brought me a lot of happiness but after the 2nd one breaking within 9 months, it just feels like a set up. You know how tech brands make sure their stuff breaks so fast you're forced to buy another? I think that's what's going on here. After my first one broke, they sent me a replacement (because you get a one year warranty). Well, turns out the replacements only come with a 6-month warranty (which is suspicious enough and makes me wonder if they sent me a refurbished machine?). So now my "two options" are pay $65 for them to "fix" my current machine OR buy a brand new one and start this cycle all over again. Here's the kicker: When I called to troubleshoot, my machine at least WORKED. It leaked and smoked (which was scary), but I could get coffee. After the troubleshooting, it won't even attempt to brew, lol. The woman on the phone literally was like, "Well, it's broken. Want to buy a new one?" YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDDDDING MEAnyway — I would love to give this 5-stars for convenience, flavor, etc., but as a consumer who cares about other consumer's experiences, I just need to warn you — this will be a never-ending money pit for you. If you're down to buy one every 6-12 months, this is the machine for you. If you want something to work a year from now, probably look elsewhere.

Darn fine VERTUO-Next machine
14 September 2023

Was gifted this machine last Christmas. Used it EVERY day -- usually 3x a day, but sometimes much more when friends drop by. The machine is solid. It has a few quirks though, which may well explain the other relatively negative reviews. One is that the 'knob on top' is very stiff. Being a retired mechanical engineer, I looked at it closely and found that 'stiff' is necessary for the machine to get a good HIGH pressure seal. Oh well. The other thing is that the machine will sometimes go into 'flashing red' mode, after a week or two of being used normally, for no particular reason. However the FIX is so easy as to be untroublesome. UNPLUG, count-to-20 in your head, and plug back in. Problem solved. The coffee produced is remarkably good in 3 areas. As ESPRESSO, in small cups, it it outstanding. A good crema on top of each, and if you choose a tasty blend of coffee, lovely flavor. The 'lungo' or short cups (which are related to the capsules you buy) are also quite good. Make a particularly good caffe latte. Less water thru the coffee grounds, leaving plenty of room for microwaved half-and-half or your favorite rich milk-y product. But by far the best of all is the full-cup, the 7.7 ounce cup of coffee. Years ago, we standardized on 9 to 10 ounce mugs, and got rid of all the smaller ones. By simply putting a couple of ounces of non-dairy liquid creamer in the cold cup, microwaving it for 30 seconds, THEN letting the Nespresso Vertuo make a 7.7 ... is perfection. A piping hot cup, plenty of crema, and with a HUGE selection of remarkably varied coffee types available for Nespresso. At this point -- conservatively -- I have prepared (3 x 9 x 30 x 1.25 = 1,000) cups of coffee in the machine, and excepting for the very infrequent and easy to reset glitches that happen (see above) every couple of weeks, it has been a workhorse. An excellent machine.Given its $180 price, as it stands, it is only 18 cents a cup! And getting cheaper every cup I make. The missus is also very happy, since even with only one eye open, and my brain still on sleepy-time hold, I can make her first cup like a robot, and bring it to her in bed. ZERO hassle. That alone is worth every dime of the investment in machine and pods, pods, pods.

Disappointed
24 March 2023

I’ve had my Vertuo Next for about 2 years. Initially it was ok. Trying all the different pod flavors was a novelty. The accessories were cool too. I bought mugs, cups, spoons, coasters, dispensers - you name it. It all made for a very fancy and modern looking coffee nook in my kitchen. However after a couple months I started getting the no brew issue with the blinking orange light. I would descale and reset and reconnect to bluetooth and do all the recommended things. But it’s so annoying to brew one cup perfectly fine, go to brew another 1 minute later and the machine just blinks an orange SOS at you and refuses to do anything else. But I dealt with it. I was a regular at the Nespresso store here in NYC buying a minimum of 10 sleeves, and many times 20 at a time to get a small box of biscuits or some other reward. Then the leaking issue started. Coffee leaking out from the bottom of the machine. I never did figure out exactly where it was coming from. But I’d frequently find a puddle of dark coffee randomly. Was quite the mystery as to where within the machine this extra liquid was being stored… only to be released when it thought I wasn’t looking…Between the annoying orange SOS which was happening like every 10 cups or so toward the end and sometimes back to back. As in, I’d descale it, clean it, reset it, brew one cup - and the very next cup would flash orange again; and the leakage issue, I finally decided it’s lived its life and it’s time to replace it.So I thought about the value of the machine. Besides the cool factor I never felt I had a great machine. The coffee brewed was ok, I found myself mostly using Stormio pods, and frequently removing the foam from the cup as it was making way too much. I have spent a King’s random on coffee pods and expensive accessories. And it barely lasted two years… Do I want to continue this relationship with a new Nespresso machine? I’m not sure I do…For comparison, when I purchased it I was replacing a very old Tassimo (remember them?) which lasted for almost a decade but finding pods became impossible. However, had the Tassimo and pods been readily available I would have happily purchased it again. You expect a machine marketed to espresso and coffee drinkers with ‘higher standards’ to have… higher standards… right? And last longer than 2 years.

Great Coffee, Great Service... Nightmare Machine
24 August 2023

There was no doubt in my mind when getting this for Christmas in 2022 that this machine would make my morning latte brewing significantly better. I used a relative's Nespresso Evoluo before and knew how great the coffee was at such speed in brewing. This machine, though, did not satisfy.I brought this machine back with me to college the second week of January in 2023. I got to use it twice before the issues started. The first thing I noticed (by design, likely) is that while the Evoluo heated up in around 4 seconds, the Vertuo Next took about 30 seconds to get there. The first thing I noticed (by design, likely) is that while the Evoluo heated up in around 4 seconds, the Vertuo Next took about 30 seconds to get there. I thought this was odd, but I dismissed this due to the price difference and therefore expected performance difference as well.Using it a third time, I found that after the machine heated up and had a glowing white button, I was left with a screeching noise followed shortly by a blinking red light (more to come with this, but the number of blinking red lights changed with each brew attempt each different day). and no coffee. I thought of the basic options to fix this. I unplugged the machine from the wall, waited around 15 seconds, and plugged it back in. Hit the light to turn it on and then once more to brew and... the same thing. I knew this issue would have a deeper fix than just by "putting it in rice" so I called customer service.Customer service is great. The menu is easy to navigate and getting connected to a polite, useful employee is very simple. They helped me do a reset on the machine and I was up and running with coffee after. After a week off from using the machine due to sickness, I woke up germ-free and was excited to get back to my daily coffee (which, at this point, I loved and relied on). I turned on the machine, waited, and saw that glowing white light filling me with excitement and joy of the flavour and caffeination that this magic bean drink brought me.My spirits were smashed again by the blinking red light, this time returning to white after blinking for a while. I hit the brew button again and it blinked red, then went back to white and spit the coffee out with no more concern. "Odd," I thought, but coffee is coffee and I wasn't going to fix something that wasn't broken to me.Several brews later and I had the blinking issue every day now. Each time, the machine heats up, glows white like a horse ready to race, and then blinks red with a dead spirit upon push. Call after call, service got me running again with a reset (note, the reset cleared the phone connection to the machine each time which was a key advertisement point to this model compared to others).March (3 months later) came, and I went home from college where I was able to use the Nespresso Evoluo again (and see my family and dog, but the Next had left me drained and I was truly excited to sue ol' reliable). I raced to the machine in the morning, hit the "on" button, waited a few seconds, and then pressed the button again for the coffee to brew immediately. The smooth setup and sweet operating noise of the machine brought a smile to my face, and after about 10 seconds, so did the coffee. No weird noises, quick coffee, and best of all, no blinking red light.Time passed, break ended, and I went back to school. I arrived in my apartment room and was met with the smug stare from the Vertuo Next by my bedside (yes, I am that reliant). It knew I had cheated on it with the Evoluo and I could tell that good things just weren't to come. Classes started, and I used the Next every day. With exams coming up, sometimes it was even 2-3 times each day that I would make coffee. Each time I used it, though, the fatal blinking red light came back in a different pattern. After 7 calls to customer service and a replaced machine (yes, same model and colour, and no, it was not the same machine that I sent in - they did in fact give me a new machine with a new serial number) I realised that this machine and I just weren't going to work out. I found out that you can spam push the brew button and after some robotic suffering and choking noises, the machine eventually spits out coffee with no more light. You just have to hit the button about 5 times a second continuously until the red light gives up and the coffee flow wins.I moved away for the summer leaving my machine in storage (climate controlled) for 3 months. After setting it up this week, putting a mug under it, and saying prayers to every god and higher being in the book, I turned the machine on. The white "startup" light pulsed for 30 seconds or so, and after I did another deep clean (which I usually did every two weeks or so by the way) I put a pod in and hit brew.And...Blinking red light. I called service for the 8th time, did the reset deal, and were back to where we were (well, until tomorrow that is, when the machine won't work again due to Murphy's law). This evening, I'll be dumping $219 into the Evoluo to have a working machine that won't cause me a stroke every time I use it. My relatives never cleaned their machine, and they didn't even know that Nespresso had customer service for the machines since there's has always worked so well.So in short, if you're looking for great, quick coffee, the Nespresso machines are 100% the way to go. Just be sure to spend the extra $40 on the good machine, since its not worth paying more for blood pressure medicine after using the Vertuo Next for a week. I give customer support a huge thanks in always getting the machine working again with a reset, but this machine just isn't for me (and quite frankly, I have no idea who it would be for), If you've read this all the way to the end, I hope this makes you spend the extra $40 to get the Evoluo (or anything else) and that you meet success in all your brews. I hope Nespresso keeps this from happening to future machines!

Great at first...
2 June 2023

I'll start this by saying I absolutely love Nespresso coffee. I was a Keurig girl for years, but the coffee quality and taste just doesn't compare. When I got this machine, it was amazing, and I fell in love with Nespresso altogether. It can be a very inconsistent machine. Sometimes it would go months working perfectly, and other times I'd have to run a cleaning cycle between every brew or it would stop working. Well, here we are just over 2 years later (purchased Feb 2021), and it has completely stopped working. The only functions it will run are the cleaning/descaling functions. I will not brew a single cup of coffee anymore no matter what I do. My biggest complaint about these machines is the lack of screen or error messages to refer back to. I will not brew a single cup of coffee anymore no matter what I do. My biggest complaint about these machines is the lack of screen or error messages to refer back to. You have to decipher different colored blinking patterns and refer back to their chart but even there all it says is, "see point 7 & 8", but points 7 & 8 just say if it doesn't work, try something else. Not super helpful. As a DIY savvy person, I've troubleshooted everything the book says could be the problem and it still won't brew anything. I love the coffee so much and currently have about $150 worth of coffee pods that I can't brew so I'm probably going to end up purchasing the new Vertuo Pop+ Machine but I hope it lasts a little longer than 2 years. Also, for $125-$150 I'm not expecting these to last a lifetime, but I know I've had Keurig machines work perfectly for 4+ years and only got rid of them because a newer model was available. Would be nice if they had something in between this model and the $800 model. I'd most definitely pay upwards of $300 for a Nespresso machine if it was guaranteed to work for at least 2 years.

Love the Coffee, Poor Quality Coffee Makers
31 December 2022

Love their coffee, but I’m just not pleased with their line of Vertuo coffee makers. I’ve had problems now with 3 out of 4 units I’ve purchased. We were gifted with an old Gran Maestria by our daughter in law for our beach condo in NC since her father had purchased her a new Creatista machine. We loved the coffee so much we decided to purchase one of their machines for our home in Michigan. I liked the idea of the Vertuo system so I purchased a Vertuo Plus that I returned to Target because it would not get the coffee hot. Having been burned by the Plus I decided the get a Vertuo Next and it worked good for around 1 1/2 years before it started showing a need to descale (orange light blinks twice). Having been burned by the Plus I decided the get a Vertuo Next and it worked good for around 1 1/2 years before it started showing a need to descale (orange light blinks twice). Well I’ve descaled it now twice and ran through a cleaning cycle twice (once on my own and once with a Nespresso service technician on a video call) and am able to get a few cups of coffee out of it before the problem returns the next day. The only thing different the technician had me do is to run the water tank dry and stick a paper clip in the hole in the cover. We will see if it works tomorrow morning, but I’m not holding out any hope. I also purchased an identical unit for my daughter last year after she loved the coffee from ours. It lasted less than a year and had the same problem as our unit. Same error codes in spite of multiple descaling attempts. I tossed the unit in the garbage and purchased her a new one, of course this was all before our unit developed the same issues otherwise I’d have purchased her something different. Not sure what I’ll do once my machine quits worrying again. I love the coffee, but their machines are very poor quality. Perhaps I’ll look into another original line machine like I have in NC or find someone else’s coffee I like with better equipment. The only reason I’m not giving them a one rating is because my old unit (sans the troublesome technology) works great.
