I purchased my first Next through Costco and really enjoyed it. It came with a good promo of vertuo pods but after about 30-40 days, the machine started leaking. I Bought a descaling kit and ended up wasting that and about 5 additional pods when I found out the device was defective. I exchanged it for a new one at Costco under their return policy and had the second one for about 2 years. The second one I had started to leak out the bottom again. I read online through multiple community pages that this was a common occurrence but never really addressed by Nespresso; Not sure how true this is but I did personally have 2 machine leaking. I was offered a repair, rebate ($100 a new model excluding Next models) or just the existing promo on Next. My machine suddenly stopped leaking and I used it for about another 2 months and the same issue returned. This entire process has been so frustrating. The amount of pods, descaling kits and time I've wasted trying to maintain two machines that are both defective.I contacted support again just to see if there were any other options but was promptly told the best price is the promo price...Now i'm at a crossroad where I can switch to a competitor but their coffee isn't as superior but I still have over 80 vertuo pods for my machine. The promo price is available to all new and existing customers, so it's nothing special. I do understand my machine is out of warranty but two defective machines in two years is a bit much.I'll have to buy another one to at least get the use out of the pods I currently have. I'm fully expecting to have the same issue as last time. The coffee is great but this vertuo line really needs a redesign. I couldnt justify spending more on a significantly higher model just to potential deal with the same issue again outside of warranty.

Our electric grid is very stable and reliable, we use softened, reverse osmosis water, so our electric and water should not be an issue, we still have a dinosaur Mr. Coffee machine as an emergency backup. One request for future designs, lose the software button pushing sequence to clean and descale the machine and just add a separate button, I’m and old engineer and to design and add it is nothing, yes it add to production cost, but that can be built into the retail price, giving your customer a better experience.

I’ve had my Vertuo Next for about 2 years. Initially it was ok. Trying all the different pod flavors was a novelty. The accessories were cool too. I bought mugs, cups, spoons, coasters, dispensers - you name it. It all made for a very fancy and modern looking coffee nook in my kitchen. However after a couple months I started getting the no brew issue with the blinking orange light. I would descale and reset and reconnect to bluetooth and do all the recommended things. But it’s so annoying to brew one cup perfectly fine, go to brew another 1 minute later and the machine just blinks an orange SOS at you and refuses to do anything else. But I dealt with it. I was a regular at the Nespresso store here in NYC buying a minimum of 10 sleeves, and many times 20 at a time to get a small box of biscuits or some other reward. Then the leaking issue started. Coffee leaking out from the bottom of the machine. I never did figure out exactly where it was coming from. But I’d frequently find a puddle of dark coffee randomly. Was quite the mystery as to where within the machine this extra liquid was being stored… only to be released when it thought I wasn’t looking…Between the annoying orange SOS which was happening like every 10 cups or so toward the end and sometimes back to back. As in, I’d descale it, clean it, reset it, brew one cup - and the very next cup would flash orange again; and the leakage issue, I finally decided it’s lived its life and it’s time to replace it.So I thought about the value of the machine. Besides the cool factor I never felt I had a great machine. The coffee brewed was ok, I found myself mostly using Stormio pods, and frequently removing the foam from the cup as it was making way too much. I have spent a King’s random on coffee pods and expensive accessories. And it barely lasted two years… Do I want to continue this relationship with a new Nespresso machine? I’m not sure I do…For comparison, when I purchased it I was replacing a very old Tassimo (remember them?) which lasted for almost a decade but finding pods became impossible. However, had the Tassimo and pods been readily available I would have happily purchased it again. You expect a machine marketed to espresso and coffee drinkers with ‘higher standards’ to have… higher standards… right? And last longer than 2 years.

I purchased this Nespresso machine to replace an existing Nespresso machine in my house. This was one of the most disappointing purchases I have made in a long time - the machine quality has declined significantly since buying my first machine and the functional design is lacking. Let’s start with the brew - Nespresso is known for having an aerated brew with a smooth texture and true flavor. The brew from this machine is not aerated at all and the coffee tastes watered down (same capsules and cup size as the older machine.) The lid is also made of lower quality plastic and is trickier to lock into place. There is an inner plastic cup to hold the capsule which never existed before - this holds liquid after each cup, which is pretty gross since the next cup also goes ... MoreI purchased this Nespresso machine to replace an existing Nespresso machine in my house. The brew from this machine is not aerated at all and the coffee tastes watered down (same capsules and cup size as the older machine.) The lid is also made of lower quality plastic and is trickier to lock into place. There is an inner plastic cup to hold the capsule which never existed before - this holds liquid after each cup, which is pretty gross since the next cup also goes through this - think cold left over coffee mixing with a fresh cup everytime. The design is narrow and fights nicely in small spaces, but the machine is long to compensate and several features were cut as a result - the water reservoir is half the original size, and it is at the back of the machine. You have to move the entire machine to fill it, and it needs to be filled more often now. The capsule drop box is also 1/3 of the original size, so it needs to be emptied more frequently, daily in most cases compared to weekly before. The machine is taller, so the lid cannot open under the height of a standard kitchen cabinet - you will have to move the machine every time to use it. Overall, this machine was a huge let down. I will not buy this model again, nor will I recommend it. I love Nespresso, but not this one!!!!
I'm so sad! I bought this in July of 2021 and just got the "blue light of death". I've had lots of issues with this machine ever since I bought it so i'm not surprised at all this has happened. As an example of some of the other issues, the orange descaling light comes on all the time and when I perform the descaling - the orange light remains. I've called customer service before for this but wasn't told anything new of value. Most of the time the agent is reading their script with information I was already aware of without offering me a real solution when I asked if the machine may have been defective. I bought this thinking the newest (at the time) model was going to mean it was the best, but I feel like I wasted money on this. Upon some research, I have found a ... MoreI'm so sad! I bought this thinking the newest (at the time) model was going to mean it was the best, but I feel like I wasted money on this. Upon some research, I have found a lot of people out there with similar experiences with this machine.Tragically, this is the 2nd machine I've bought in 4 years, and I love the coffee so much I'm contemplating buying a third (different model 1000%) against my better judgement. However if a third machine fails me again, it'll reinforce to me thats these machines just arent made to last and I won't be able to justify any more Nespresso purchases.Lastly: other Nespresso machines have an automatic close once the pod is placed. This machine is closed by an awkward kind of rigid lever to close it. It's a compact machine for sure, but the cons outweigh the pros for me.
I'll start this by saying I absolutely love Nespresso coffee. I was a Keurig girl for years, but the coffee quality and taste just doesn't compare. When I got this machine, it was amazing, and I fell in love with Nespresso altogether. It can be a very inconsistent machine. Sometimes it would go months working perfectly, and other times I'd have to run a cleaning cycle between every brew or it would stop working. Well, here we are just over 2 years later (purchased Feb 2021), and it has completely stopped working. The only functions it will run are the cleaning/descaling functions. I will not brew a single cup of coffee anymore no matter what I do. My biggest complaint about these machines is the lack of screen or error messages to refer back to. I will not brew a single cup of coffee anymore no matter what I do. My biggest complaint about these machines is the lack of screen or error messages to refer back to. You have to decipher different colored blinking patterns and refer back to their chart but even there all it says is, "see point 7 & 8", but points 7 & 8 just say if it doesn't work, try something else. Not super helpful. As a DIY savvy person, I've troubleshooted everything the book says could be the problem and it still won't brew anything. I love the coffee so much and currently have about $150 worth of coffee pods that I can't brew so I'm probably going to end up purchasing the new Vertuo Pop+ Machine but I hope it lasts a little longer than 2 years. Also, for $125-$150 I'm not expecting these to last a lifetime, but I know I've had Keurig machines work perfectly for 4+ years and only got rid of them because a newer model was available. Would be nice if they had something in between this model and the $800 model. I'd most definitely pay upwards of $300 for a Nespresso machine if it was guaranteed to work for at least 2 years.
The coffee produced from this machine smells soo great and the taste is just so smooth and wonderful. Some of the things i do like about it are the design and size. It fits so perfectly on my counter and it looks so up to date. Absolutely love that the water tank can be pulled off for refill unlike other machines ive had in the past that would require to have to refill a cup with water and pour until filled. Its a genius idea although there are two issues i did come across that could use a better upgrade next time. My first time trying this out i noticed the machine was leaking water all over my counter and i tried looking up solutions on the internet. I thought it was broken and was really disappointed until i realized the water tank just needed to be pushed down ... MoreThe coffee produced from this machine smells soo great and the taste is just so smooth and wonderful. Its a genius idea although there are two issues i did come across that could use a better upgrade next time. My first time trying this out i noticed the machine was leaking water all over my counter and i tried looking up solutions on the internet. I thought it was broken and was really disappointed until i realized the water tank just needed to be pushed down well so no water could escape, now when i had in the first time it did click so i assumed it was in correctly but even if it clicks it really needs to be pushed down im so glad i figured this out on my own but im sure im not the only one who has experienced this. Another thing i would change is the water container being in the back, its great for space but on the online picture i saw it was on the side so i thought it could slide to the left side of the machine too it would make it easier to refill since i am a coffee drinker and i go through lots of water in a day. Still not a big deal to me but would be nice. When i first started the machine i was instructed to install the app so i could connect it to my wifi to keep track of maintenance and purchase more coffees and appliances for the coffee maker. The app works quickly and there is a great amount of selections to choose from including flavors and pods with lesser or more cofee strengths. You can see how much each pod is sold for and they are a bit pricey but the coffee is definitely of excellent quality so i will give it that but it is a bit deceiving because the app makes it look like you can individually pick and choose the quantity and flavors you want but the minimum is ten of one flavor. I definitely would love to mix and match based on how many i get however they do have variety coffee sets. The machine is a bit loud when making my expresso shot but i have worked in coffee shops before with high quality machines and let me just say this was expected especially with it being an expresso machine. I do wish it had a milk brother built in but i did see that you can purchase on from the company website. The time it takes to heat up is something i definitely like alot the coffee or expresso shots come out very quickly and when your done with a pod the moment you unlock and lift the lid back up it dispenses the empty pod into a built in trash compartment on the side that can be either pulled to open or entirely pulled out. I love that feature about it!
Received this as a gift. Works great after purchase, I read reviews so I stayed diligent with the cleaning process and cared for it well. Removed capsules immediately after brewing, descaled after two months, and have been running a cleaning cycle every Friday. I only brew one cup every morning Monday-Friday. Imagine my disappointment when the coffee started tasting burnt after only two months of use. Coffee would brew and smell so strongly bitter and burnt, the taste being burnt as well. Called customer service and had a few hiccups with actually moving forward with video proof that it was working fine but I told them it was still smelling and tasting bad. Call got dropped twice, nobody called back so I had to restart the proof process three times. Then when I made ... MoreReceived this as a gift. Overall I love the thing and hopefully don't have to go through this headache again but will still continue referring the machine. Love the easy consistent espresso that the vertuo next produces. Just hoping the next machine doesn't also go funky on me. Good coffee, great end result with customer service but just a few hiccups and wasted time getting there.
Love their coffee, but I’m just not pleased with their line of Vertuo coffee makers. I’ve had problems now with 3 out of 4 units I’ve purchased. We were gifted with an old Gran Maestria by our daughter in law for our beach condo in NC since her father had purchased her a new Creatista machine. We loved the coffee so much we decided to purchase one of their machines for our home in Michigan. I liked the idea of the Vertuo system so I purchased a Vertuo Plus that I returned to Target because it would not get the coffee hot. Having been burned by the Plus I decided the get a Vertuo Next and it worked good for around 1 1/2 years before it started showing a need to descale (orange light blinks twice). Well I’ve descaled it now twice and ran through a cleaning cycle twice ... MoreLove their coffee, but I’m just not pleased with their line of Vertuo coffee makers. Well I’ve descaled it now twice and ran through a cleaning cycle twice (once on my own and once with a Nespresso service technician on a video call) and am able to get a few cups of coffee out of it before the problem returns the next day. The only thing different the technician had me do is to run the water tank dry and stick a paper clip in the hole in the cover. We will see if it works tomorrow morning, but I’m not holding out any hope. I also purchased an identical unit for my daughter last year after she loved the coffee from ours. It lasted less than a year and had the same problem as our unit. Same error codes in spite of multiple descaling attempts. I tossed the unit in the garbage and purchased her a new one, of course this was all before our unit developed the same issues otherwise I’d have purchased her something different. Not sure what I’ll do once my machine quits worrying again. I love the coffee, but their machines are very poor quality. Perhaps I’ll look into another original line machine like I have in NC or find someone else’s coffee I like with better equipment. The only reason I’m not giving them a one rating is because my old unit (sans the troublesome technology) works great.
I have had 3 of these machines - the first failed about 6 months after purchase. After walking through trying to re-set the machine with Tech Support, they finally gave up and issued a return and replacement. The second machine lasted a little over a year, but just stopped working and gave 3 red light blinks on the status indicator any time I tried to use it. As it was out of warranty, I was out of luck. I thought I'd give it once last chance because I really like the coffee and the machine when it works, and I saw it at Costco at a nice package price, so I bought another one (the 3rd unit I had now tried). I bought it in June 2022, and it now has simply gone dead as of July15th 2023. No warning, no nothing - it worked the last time I used it a little over a week ... MoreI have had 3 of these machines - the first failed about 6 months after purchase. No lights, no power, nothing. Of course, this happens just after the 1 year warranty has expired.I'm not a heavy user, so I don't think I worked any of the machines to death - I make 2 double espressos on Sat and Sun each weekend (4 total). I have other coffee options at my office at work during the week. A $200 machine should be expected to reliably operate much longer than this.I have no idea if other Nespresso models are more reliable, but very very disappointed with this model and this company regarding this one. And it's a shame, because I really enjoy the espresso and experience. Very easy... WHEN IT WORKS.
