I went from a cheaper netgear wifi adapter that died to this one and this one is leaps and bounds better than the cheaper adapter. My steam downloads went from downloading at 800kbps to 5mbps just by buying this adapter, wifi has been consistently good and i've never had the wifi drop out or anything like that. I'm using the wifi adapter on my desktop and it's working incredibly well. Definitely has my strong recommendation.

I have an older laptop that ran only 2G. Not wishing to have to try to replace the WIFI card in the laptop I found it easier to just get a USB dongle for WIFI. I am familiar with Netgear being a good product so I decided to go with the dongle for 5G by Netgear. It has been eight months so far no problems. Very simple to install. Since buying the dongle I have purchased Netgear's router with the eight ports from BestBuy. One thing i did like is their price matching for the ASUS - AX6000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router. Don't know if it is still on sale, but it allows me to upgrade to WIFI 6 in the future. Should I choose to do so. I don't think much about brands when they claim one thing and do another. However with Netgear it seems that for the home the dongle and the router is a good foundation for streaming from PC, tablets and other automation devices. As with any networking device it is only as good as your network provider's service. I say this because one's expectations should not be to clear up bad internet service by purchasing a better router, because there isn't a router made that can do that. A good router will enhance the service provided by a good internet provider by allowing the devices in one's home or office to be more efficient. So if your looking to update an old PC to WIFI 5 this is the dongle that did it for me. Happy web surfing!

This NETGEAR - Dual-Band Wireless-AC USB Network Adapter was easy to set up and worked perfectly after following the instructions provided. It didn't advertise as acceptable for Windows 11, but I gave it a shot and had no problems. I like the compact size with interior antennae. So far I'm not detecting any difference with the signal from my previous on-board network adapter.

The ONLY reason to get this is if your internal WIFI doesn't work at all, and even then it is questionable. While set-up was easy, it showed no advantage over my laptop's internal WIFI, despite the claims it would be faster and signal strength would improve. In fact, signal strength did not improve nor did download/upload speeds, and it cut out frequently with SpeedTest often showing "No internet". I will be returning this.
Needed it for for a backup since my max wifi module decided to stop working.Pros: Very Small and compact. It’s low profile and might work best with a windows machine.Cons: The drivers are out of date. Last drivers are from 2020 and are not compatible with Mac Catalina or Big Sur. It’s such a big issue as there documents have not been updated in a long time.
I was out on a very long road trip, and the internal WiFi card in my laptop was having great difficulty making/keeping connections to most hotel and other public WiFi's. I didn't want to perform "surgery" to replace my internal card with a new one while out on the road -- worried about damaging something else. So I stopped at the nearest Best Buy and picked this up. Software installation couldn't be easier, and I was immediately on line with this adapter. It worked 100% reliably on the many different WiFi's I used for the rest of the trip.
Suddenly I lost my wireless internet connection. After several attempts to reinstall drivers and run diagnostic procedures. I gave up and brought my laptop in to Staples for a new Network Card.I was told about this simple USB adapter in place of spending for expensive repairs on an old laptop. This USB Adapter was easy and quick to install and provides excellent wireless connections to my laptop.Thank you for the recommendation and great product.
I have an older Lenovo laptop with an Intel wireless n-2230 card. It is only a 2.4 Ghz wireless n adapter and the driver is buggy in Windows 10. The bios in my Lenovo laptop has a white list for wireless cards, so I can't easily update the internal wireless card to something newer. So I figured I would try out this Netgear AC1200 USB adapter. I like that it so small that I can just leave it plugged into a USB port. It works great. I can now connect with 5 Ghz wireless AC. So far it seems very stable and works great anywhere in my small house. Due to it's tiny size, I am sure that it won't give you the best range, but for me with my small house, even at the point farthest from the router (on a different floor) I still got about 50% signal on 5 Ghz and it seems to ... MoreI have an older Lenovo laptop with an Intel wireless n-2230 card. However, when I switched to 2.4 Ghz wireless n at the same location, even though I had a stronger signal (80%), the speed test showed about 3 Mbps. Probably due to the fact that there is a lot of 2.4 ghz wireless around my house. I can see 10 wireless networks on 2.4 ghz but only 4 on 5Ghz. So I just leave it connected to the 5Ghz wireless all the time.
Super quick delivery (1-3 days), very easy to simple to install. Came in a neat little package with instructions and the installation CD. I didn't have a CD port so I just googled up the instructions on Netgear how to download and install the adapter and it was very straightforward and simple to do. Took less than 10 minutes to set up. Overall very happy with my purchase! Would recommend for anyone who's PC doesn't have a wifi adapter and can only connect via ethernet.
Don't waste your time. Buy the Linksys WUSB6300 sold in the same section of this adapter, or anything with a USB 3.0 port on it.Netgear *does* in fact have some good USB wifi adapters!
