This is proper plug-n-play - nothing to it. Even semi-trained monkey could probably manage. Does what it says on the tin. Silent and compact, yet sufficent width for all those Ethernet sockets, blinkenlights and all.

This is perfect for my home set up. Cable comes out of Chrous ONT and into this Deco mesh which is wired into this, then I have printer, PC, PS, TV, Sonos etc plugged. Easy set up - just neededed to put the deco in between ONT and this switch which took a while to figure out.

Can wall mount of just sit on a stand. 7 ports available for devices since one port will need to connect to modem. Does not matter what port modem is plugged in to. Tired of buffering or dropping of wifi. Want a STRONG fast 100 percent connection no slow or weak signal go back to ethernet. This will replace a router for connecting directly to a device. This does not have a wifi signal so there are no password required just connect and sign in on your device.

For security reasons I am not allowed to use wireless equipment at my home office. When I brought in a second computer to do some additional work, I discovered that my router didn't have enough ports, so I ordered the Netgear 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308v3). It's compact, inexpensive, easy to install, easy to set up and very powerful. I gives me the ability to wire all the devices I need to have on the same network, and the peace of mind to know it's going to be there for me.
When I upgraded my Verizon Fios Internet speed to Gigabit, I was employing a NetGear Fast which, of course, was not designed for Gigabit speed. Once I realized I would benefit from a Gigabit Switch, I decided on another NetGear as the one used has never failed me. Once, I made the change, suddenly the speed was demonstrated with Verizon's Broadband speed test. and my iMac's Down and Up speeds reflected the speed increase and my iOS devices as well. Easy to install, trouble-free. There were a lot of choices for a Gigabit Ethernet switcher, but I stayed with NetGear based on my experience of real time experience with their products.
I was concerned if this would work with my 1 gig fiber line, however all went smooth, and it works perfect. I have 2 RPI's connected to it, and speeds are far superior to wireless. However, I haven't experienced speed tests that live up to the claims on the product, I also have not checked the ethernet cable I chose to use to see if I purchased one with beyond 1gig up/down speeds. Either way, I've been very happy with this. Just wish that the Amazon "recommend" combined purchases would either the fastest cables to go with the switches capabilities and or more clearly describe if not. Looking at the cables, I can't really tell if I have the best I could have purchased. Otherwise, fast shipping and solid switch.
What's not to like about this 8-port switch, each port capable of 1 Gb/s, especially at its attractive price point? Zero configuration: any port any device, upstream device on any port, no worry about cross-over cables, just plug and play. Too, MS Windows networking capabilities have evolved to the point where your PC will find and use a printer located on this switch with no user involvement. Ditto Apple iOS, at least for my iPad (I do not use a MAC computer). Highly recommended.
Pllug and Play is one thing...Plug and ENJOY is quite another. I receive the Netgear GS308-300 PAS and in under 5 minutes had it up and running. I was able to move the entire home network off of WiFi, increase speed, and utilize the Gigabit service I had upgraded to..but never saw it's full potential. I've used Netgear equipment for many years professionally, yet never considered it for home use. A small investment that is already paying for itself with many more smiles and near zero grimaces as video streaming is now possible. WINNER!
Reliable. Works as expected. The only downside was the startup instructions, which insisted that you download their Insight app to manage their equipment. Why would you ask to download an app to manage equipment when it doesn't work on it? The answer is probably is it is a) easier than figuring out which equipment can use it, b) to improve download numbers or c) data miner. I'd like to believe that is the first two, but this is 2020 so the last one would definitely be on point.
Bought 2 switches "installation instructions enclosed" I was informed. I received the switches broke out the "instillation instructions" and eagerly read them over and over. Nothing other than 'plug into power' and a graphic showing the router connecting to the back of the unit along with an 'access point'. All other hardware showed as connecting to the ports.I went online and registered the switches to my existing account and then queried 'support'. It sent me all over telling me how great this product was, meeting all these standards. Kudos from current owners. But nothing about where do you plug in the router. I even had to give out contact information so I could hear about how smart a purchase I made.Chat would not load, even used another system and it would not ... MoreBought 2 switches "installation instructions enclosed" I was informed. I even had to give out contact information so I could hear about how smart a purchase I made.Chat would not load, even used another system and it would not load. So I kept searching. After what turned out to be 2.5 hours I decided to try 'community support'.When I reached 'community support' I refused to become another sucker blindly giving out personal information from a group that guaranteed there would be no privacy (my spam filter chokes daily). I had purchased a product from an obviously arrogant company that could care less about the customer. I mean how difficult would it be to say "plug your ROUTER into ........ . It would be so simple to insert it on the website, even I could do it, but I do not know where to plug in a router to a Netgear GS308-300PAS 8 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. It saddens me that that information is not available from Netgear either. My wife's urging is helping me get back to building the ethernet, but it is definitely not moving forward for at least another week while I research AGAIN to locate other equipment and this time if they can't/won't tell me how to use the equipment before I buy I won't waste any more time. A lot of companies make gigabit switches.
