Best bang for your buck. Works great. I am using the PoE functionality. Metal housing gives it a better feel. Only negative I found was mounting. Not worth removing a star on the rating: The mounting points on the underside are great to have but their design doesn't let it be mounted at any angle. For example it won't mount solid if you want the ethernet ports facing to the right when mounted against a wall. It will be loose in that position because the screw head won't "slip" into the slot (giggity) at that angle. It works but is kind of wobbly and not securely mounted. However if the ports are facing left it allows the screw head to slip in and secure the mount. Hope that makes sense.

First off, let me say that this is a great product that is well built and works perfectly. For that it gets 5 stars. I returned mine b/c I failed to read the questions/answers section for the product. I have Ubiquiti Unifi LITE APs (UAPACLITEUS). The PoE injectors they come with took up some extra space in my networking cabinet. This product would have tidied that up. But I failed to read that the Ubiquiti Unifi LITE APs run off 24-VDC, so they won't work with this product (which generates 48-VDC). Just an FYI, b/c I had to bite $10 to return the thing...

I'm not using POE right now but opted for this to have it as an option if I need it later, for something like a camera system, for example. I also thought about getting the 8 port model but only got this one because it was a super low price at the time, and I already had an 8-port model so I had plenty of ports but just needed this in a new location. This having POE available gives it a lot of versatility. Being 1GB makes it feel future proof for a while at least, for me in home usage. Physically it is the same size as some of the same branded 8-port models, so if you might want 8 ports, keep in mind you won't be paying a size penalty for that. It's like this one has some extra air space inside it. That's fine with me, though. If I ever need to stack them together they'll be the same size, which isn't very important but I don't mind it as a benefit. Comes with a good sized power brick with a cord on both ends so it's not blocking and hogging your power strip.
quick and easy transaction. Easy and fast to deal with. Scorptec always has best products at good prices
I highly recommend it compared to my previous PoE switch that it replaced which was twice as big, had fewer ports and was so loud I had to open it up to replace the fan with a 3rd party fan. This Netgear Poe Switch is silent and cool.
So far I've had this product for around 6 months. Here is what I can gather about it: Pros: Had this device up and running withing 30 seconds Runs with two cameras and a access point No dead ports on arrival Sturdy metal construction Cons: Runs pretty hot in a non-air-conditioned room No usb ports Seperate AC to DC adapter (Just not ideal for my situation) ---- So far this product has survived many storm surges in my area and has held up longer than the Tplink 5 port poe switch. All in all I would recommend this product to any homeowner trying to run cameras or access points. (08/22/19) Will update if I have any issues
The GS305P is a very nice POE switches. I have purchased various of these POE switches due to their excellent pricepoint over the years, but seems that all of them (at least the ones I have) have the same problem. When extending a network cable from main internet switch to the Netgear GS305P, I kept getting intermittent network connections with the GS305P. I thought it was an issue with the "older" GS305P POE switch I had, but the brand new one had same issues, even though the network cables were checking OK with cable tester and distance between switch was brought down to about 50 meters (150ft). Finally I connected a short patch cable between a Cisco SG110D-08 and the GS305P POE. Now I am again running 4 POE cameras with 100% uptime :-) BOTTOM LINE: 1. the Netgear GS305P is an excellent POE switch, but with limited reach on extended network cables!!! 2. The GS305P network connectivity problems seam to manifest itself more with higher ambient temperatures.
