Works as intendedFor those complaining about poor charging speed and battery life. Use a laptop charger with usb c to charge instead of out of box. It will allow you to use it straight away on a depleted battery. The out of box charger does take a fair time to charge.Havent tested in regional areas but works in a home where my phone data cannot access. I would recommend

I don't often totally bag out a product, however, I will make an exception in this case. The Netgear Nighthawk M2 would have to be, without doubt, the crappyist product that Netgear have EVER produced. Perhaps their loyalty to Telstra has something to do with that performance. I purchased this 4G LTE WiFi Router for work along with a 5GB/mth Telstra data SIM card. While setting the unit up and updating the Nighthawks firmware, it used around 1GB of my 5Gb data allowance. I then checked out some .PDF's on the net relating to the printer that I was connecting to and that chewed up more data. After approx. 3 x 3/4 hr sessions my data usage was around 2.5Gb... pretty steep in 3 days.I then returned the unit to JB HiFi stating that it wasn't fit for purpose and ... MoreI don't often totally bag out a product, however, I will make an exception in this case. Having said that, the remaining 2.5GB on my Telstra 5Gb access has lasted as expected.. forgive me here, but if I was being cynical I'd think that Telstra had an agreement with Netgear in relation to the M2 to use as much data as was possible. Just my opinion.

Full service.....next to no wifi
25 November 2021

Live in a non-NBN area of western Brisbane. One local Telstra Tower with a booster (genuine one) i have full coverage. Each night it takes 5 mins to start a show on Netflix if it works at all. I should have stuck with the pathetic ADSL I had (which you can no longer sign up to). Satelite is soooooo expensive with almost no data for peak periods...peak being 5am till midnight somehow......absolutely heart breaking. Thanks Telstra and Netgear you bring endless stress into a family with 3 teenagers.

Good 4G/LTE router, faster than the M1
5 March 2020

Best 4G/LTE router. I had the Nighthawk M1 before and comparison is as follow (about 200m away from antenna):Nighthawk M1: About 80-100Mbit/secNighthawk M2: About 120-140Mbit/secM2 is clearly faster than M1Firmware has more information like details on signal strength and SNR (useful to find the right location)Touchscreen is also usefulDisadvantages:1) You can not see the battery level and Data usage with easy to read big bar-graphs like on the M12) Max 20 connected devices (Total WiFi + Wired). No warning when reaching this limit. Pretty easy to reach the limit. The routing behavior becomes strange when reaching the limit (some devices suddenly start to work, etc...) difficult to understand what is going on, debug and to find the root cause...

Great alternative to using phone's hotspot
15 February 2022

Super easy to setup, works brilliantly in our caravan. Provides us with great internet speeds. No issues with connectivity, great with streaming Netflix etc. It's a fantastic alternative to using hotspot off our phones. Highly recommend.

Great for giving more data throughput NE NSW
25 May 2022

I chose this model as it has 2 x TS9 external aerial connectors. Currently using in a vehicle with 2 x 3dBi glass mount 4G antennae and is definitely maintaining a working data signal more than a phone, maintaining Teams calls in particular areas where the phone drops to 1 bar 3G. There are still dead spots (north of Glenugie on Pacific Motorway notably) but this router is definitely reducing the time I'm offline (whilst travelling through NE NSW).

It's OK, but not great.
26 February 2023

Got this router as I am constantly travelling, also to foreign countries (like South Africa) and needed something to keep the kids online while saving data roaming costs. Also use it while traveling by rail in at home between Luzern and Bern, where the reception of Sunrise is mediocre at best.Using the screen on the device to set up proved almost impossible (although I don't have big fingers) so had to do a factory reset in frustration and used a network cable connected to my laptop - serious tip - much faster and way easier than trying to do it on the fly. Once it was set up, every thing more or less OK though.Secondly, turned out the range is seriously limited, so SAME room only, and it shouldn't be a big room. So if you want a better range, this is not your gadget. Perfect, however, for use in the car or train.Thirdly, connection to the router is finicky to be honest. If often asked me and other users to logon to the administration site rather than the network. Frustrating when in the car and painful for kids who you would prefer not to give the password to. Disconnects spontaneously sometimes.Fourthly, sometimes the lightest of touches (in bag or on desk as well) causes the device to switch on, and run, therefore using battery unbeknown to you, causing unlimited pain a few hours later as when needed there is no battery left. Caution with handling is advised.I have mostly used it on 5Ghz wireless connection which has been fine to be honest, but I think the 2,4 Ghz would have a better range. It has been a suitable product for my needs, has unfortunately, not been brilliant. It does what it is supposed to without shinning.

Not fit for purpose
14 December 2022

This product is not fit for purpose because it does not function as described. My wife's Apple iPhone and iPad both have endless disconnections, it only works to a point with our Android TV's, and at best requires daily restarts simply to maintain any sort of reliability for remote connections to our PC. This infuriating excuse for a modem just now died on me for no good reason after only 18 months of use. Given that it has a Telstra logo on it, and the experience of others, you have to ask yourself why it's not being sold locked to any Telstra SIM or contract. It seems to me that these 5+ year old modems were rejected by Telstra and knowingly dumped for resale unlocked onto the Australian consumer. While some owners have reported five star results with rudimentary domestic use, if you need a reliable modem to function exactly as described then get a Fritzbox, not this low quality junk modem. Shame on both Telstra and JBHIFI for offering this to market. I'm off to get my full refund.
