I got this in place of a Dataremote CDS-9010 for a remote telemetry project. For some reason, AT&T decided to lock the Dataremote devices entirely: they cannot be accessed by end users, even after factory defaulting. Rather than fight with them, I picked this up as I knew it would be completely open and fully configurable. It has a touchscreen interface which is nice for initial IP configuration and checking cellular status at a glance. It comes with the network port disabled, but this can easily be enabled through the GUI. I do wish it was POE capable, especially since the total wattage is well within spec (the power supply provides either 5v @ 2.0a or 9v @ 1.8a), but I suspect a POE splitter would work fine in either 802.3af (13w) or 802.3at (25.5w). All in all it's a very compact and capable unit, albeit fairly expensive for what it is. Still, it's a clean and easy way to get wifi or hardwired internet service via cellular to any remote location you need. Perfect for remote telemetry or surveillance applications, or as I mentioned for redundant internet service for a remote site.

Actually has a 5g signal & holds it consistently. Even the LTE speeds feel like an upgrade over previous unite hotspot. Couldnt be happier. Battery does drain pretty quickly if not on a charger, good for maybe 8 hours.
Purchase one through ATT store special order. If you are paying for installment for both M6 and data SIM for internet, monthly cost will be the same amount of getting high speed cable internet. Based on your location, the speed is different. I have tested from rural area to downtown. The speed range is between 110Mbps to 330Mpbs. Browsing, upload, download and Streaming are good. You can get unlock M1 and M5 and just getting data sim is better option if you are using for travelling. If you are using day to day, just get regular home internet.
Item arrived as described. Heeded warnings about over heating. Made sure firmware is most current and connected without battery installed. Battery adds that functionality I was looking for.

The ethernet port can also be convenient. In my case enabling this device to stand in for an abysmal 4Mbps (not a typo) landline internet service, and providing 4-5 times the speed to a home mesh wifi network. Note that AT&T told me this device can only be used with a prepaid plan, so it is separate from my other AT&T accounts. Inconvenient, but it works. I have observed it drop service due to overheating when I left it in the sunny window, hoping to get faster speeds from that one extra bar. Even if connected, the connection is extremely slow. Now, the device will no longer connect. Additionally, the device consistently overheats, causing it to turn off and on, over and over- All after being plugged in for only 15-20 minutes. I contacted AT&T, they sent another device, under warranty- They sent me a used/refurbished device yet, I am still responsible for the full price of the brand-new product. Even after receiving a defective unit. You think people are paying the price of a new hotspot, for a refurbished unit? I think not. This is my first hotspot, but it's a scorcher. It does take a while to complete a cold boot and occasionally needs a reboot when the cell signal drops, but that's rare and it works stunningly well otherwise. It's easy to configure and provides a solid, fast signal to my wifi router that's much more solid than other carrier broadband solutions.
I added this device to my plan at the urging of an AT&T Business Team Member during a call. I was hesitant and did not want to add anything additional as I have recently paid-off all my devices and enjoy just having to pay for service and having the flexibility to go to another carrier without any strings. However this device is completely worth the price and more. It works flawlessly and is much different than a hotspot built into phones. In practice this device has impacted my business in a positive manner and I am adding at least two more of theses devices before the end of the year. I am not sure how, but sometimes when my phone doesn't have data this device does and it allows my phone, laptop, iPad and anything else to connect.
