I use a WeBoost system with an antenna that is mounted on what is basically a flag pole around 35 feet in the air. Without that, this device on its own still provides a good 15 mbps down and about .5 to 1 mbps up. Slow but useful since nothing else is available here. With the WeBoost, a steady 55 mbps down and around 10 mbps up. This means a flawless and basically lossless lag free work experience. This is great since I do customer service, so back to back phone calls that usually involve me screenshotting to their devices, sometimes two at a time. I only use this for work, so the 100 gb limit is enough for that. If it was unlimited, I would use it for everything, but I have Starlink for that (also on a pole, about 20 feet). AT&T wireless is approved for use with work but Starlink is not, so having this option for internet where DSL and cable aren’t available is amazing.

Compared to the nighthawk m1, this model has aweful battery life (I had an m1 for 2 years and it worked great). I have adjusted the settings to the most efficient power mode and it has not lasted longer than app. 6 hours. I purchased a second battery to determine if this may be the issue and incurred the same problem. This product does not work as advertized and it is now past the point of return, which is very disappointing. As a fair assesment the product has many cool features that work great, its just unfortunate I’m not able to use them because the battery life is dismal. Great features, aweful battery life, 2 stars. Buy the m1.

Great internet, but don't use for navigation
19 March 2024

Works as advertised. Anywhere we have cell service, we get a robust internet connection. We paired this with the T-Mobile 100GB hotspot data plan and have zero issues streaming our favorite video content (YouTube Premium, Fubo, Roku, Amazon Prime). Needless to say that email, Google search, etc. work exceptionally well. In some cases, when 5G is present, our upload and download speeds are the same. Best d/l so far is near 200Mbps. Best u/l so far is 97Mbps. I would not hesitate to buy this again. One caveat: Don't try to use Google or Apple maps while connected to this hotspot - go back to you phone. Locations will be inaccurate (especially with T-mobile) and you'll get funky directions.

Internet in the countryside
7 September 2024

On holiday in the English countryside (Cornwall) we went from barely being able to sustain a connection, load a web page or sync email with a 5G enabled iPhone 13 to very usable speeds on EE. 135Mbps down, 2.14Mbps up indoors. The speed and connectivity was similar with or without NetGear’s antenna aerial.Connectivity is stronger in my Audi car than with the M6 Pro. External antenna better?European version does not support mmWave.VPN works great.Only four stars because:- frankly, it is over priced!- only charges over USB cable of delivering 9v or greater- takes a couple of minutes to turn on- doesn’t have a car mode. I.e. does not switch on and off when external power is provided- no external charger for spare batteries

Review from a network engineer: I've never gotten anything better that 5G with this despite traveling to many cities where ATT has 5G* networks. Even when I have the MR65000 right next to my iphone that's on 5G/5G+, this device stays on 5Ge which is really ATT's falsely advertised 4G LTE network. I had my company switch my 10 year old VZW 4G LTE hotspot for this piece of junk. I've never been able to pull >80Mbps downstream. I just ran a side by side test of my iphone on 5G, MR6500 on 5Ge. iPhone pulled 250Mbps down, MR6500 78Mbps. This behavior is pretty consistent regardless of location. Even my old VZW 4GLTE device could pull >100Mbps reliably.Additionally, the MR6500 is way under powered. Battery life is terrible and it charges at a paltry 6.5W (which means it charges at less than half the speed of an iPhone). I can't see how any company would put this out as a product.*Shame on ATT for all the 5Ge misleading and false advertising. 5Ge != 5G.

Never received item, now I get asked to review it?
30 May 2024

I haven’t checked yet if I was charged for this item, but I never reciprocated it. My order was cancelled because att “couldn’t verify my identity” with the id photographing software they use. My id is clean as a whistle and easy to see. Took the pictures on a black mousepad in good lighting. I’m unsure how they can verify anyone’s identity if they can’t manage to process mine. Only reason I’m willing to leave a review is because after the long process required to attempt to purchase this, they cancelled my order, then send me a link later to ask me how the item is?? Quite the failure of their automated system.

This MiFi is absolutely amazing! I have been waiting so long for the tech to catch up, and it finally has with the v7. Consistent high speeds exceeding the average max I even get on home broadband. Honestly, flipping off home internet now. They finally crossed that threshold where it makes sense without sacrificing performance. Easy set up and seamless integration into my home mesh. Cannot say enough good about this MiFi… just happy it got to this level while I’m still young enough to enjoy it! Highest endorsement and recommendation!

Works perfect in RV.
11 April 2024

Purchased the nighthawk after doing a lot of research on hotspots for my RV. The campground where I am a new seasonal only gets service through Verizon or ATT. I was told I would only get 4G service by others but this has gotten me 5G service even during peak times. I have run two TVs, connected 2 phones, a PS5 and an Xbox at the same time with no issues. It’s easy to check data usage and devices connected right from the box. I have still been able to connect with the device inside and my phone or TV outside walking around my site and adjacent site. I have it set to standard range but can increase the range if there is a need. I have no issues with the service received or connection.
