Awesome A-grade device

I guess only time will tell but I'm confident that this thing will last me a long time. If I'm correct it will have more than justified the price I paid. The only negative is that it's not the best-looking device out there. I can overlook the aesthetics because of the performance but if it was available in white (so it could more easily blend in with the background) that would have been good. I'm clutching at straws here though. This is an A-grade device that I can 100% recommend.

Then you have to give all your information plus the unit information before they will help you. Then the steps process starts over now with tech support on the phone. Once the units are set up they work great, but as I stated earlier it should be plug and play. Netgear neads to work on this issue. So if you have the patience and time to set these up they eventually do work well.

Nighthawk AX8 is Amazing!

So many things to talk about, where to begin? Ok, the Nighthawk AX8 is amazing! The set up was super easy, the app was very user friendly, and I love the fact that I can check my wifi signal throughout my place from the app. The signal is strong, in fact… It’s stronger then the Verizon 1gb CR1000A router that didn’t even reach my room. They need to level up! (Sorry, Not Sorry! @VERIZON) My download speeds are great, and if your a gamer like me it’s really good. I experience no lag, and no connection lost since installing. I definitely recommend it, it’s definitely worth the investment and it definitely takes away headaches from other devices that are not as reliable. Internet speeds are important, the world is adapting fast to smart devices. I already have a lot of smart tech devices on 1GB speed. Eventually 1GB speeds will be slow as technology advances and more devices become smart enabled and need to be all connected to wifi. I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t have a router that’s advertises 1GB speed but perform with less than half. Live by the quote…(which is true) If it’s not NetGear, it’s not for you!

Not Worth It

I own Netgear's Nighthawk AX1800 RAX10 and AX4200 RAX43 both WiFi6 units. Their download and upload speeds are better than the new AX6600. My setup conditions are all the same. I am fed 1Tb down/up fiber and achieve 1.015 Tb download and up load through the gEthernet ports just fine. On WiFi 6, at 20 feet from Router, the RAX 10 and RAX43 achieve 995Mbps down / 750Mbps upload. The AX6600 sits around 900 Mbps up / 700 Mbps up. The GbEthernets are fine both ways. So for the money if you want Netgear equipment, go AX4200. It use to freeze on uploads, so I did a factory reset and re-installed the software updates and the freeze went away. I do remote music and video recordings for groups so they don't have to all travel to the studio. So bandwidth (for up and down loads) plus very low latency are important to me. My AX4200 is a work hoarse like the Linksys and don't miss a beat. The AX6600 induced too much latency in my network.

I was able to return the AX8 and replace it for the device I needed, which I REALLY appreciate from JB (5⭐ service for that). Overall, after a 3rd store, I ended up with what I needed and the person who served me was exceptional. Take this as both a warning to know the device you need (which is difficult) but also know that if you get the wrong device and have all the packaging, take it back to JB and if you get the right person they can help you place it.

So when I heard that you can put a VPN directly on a router I decided to look around and I ended up on this one for a few reasons; one of those reasons being it's number of devices being over 40 , many reviews piping it's reliability and ease of use and for the most part all of those things have been ringing true, they have recently allowed connections with openvpn into the system though I have not gone through those advance options as I am not a trained IT person so I'm not comfortable rolling through advanced options that I dont fully understand. so I was a little disappointed when I found that pure VPN was the only out of the box option in the drop-down selection for the internal VPN options. I decided to knock it down to four stars mainly because this is not easily advertised and while I understand that many people don't use vpns for actual privacy and connection issues it is a issue more worldwide and it is important to me. You may be asking yourself if it's worth the price and I'm not sure I can answer that question, when I got it it was on sale and for $300. I am very comfortable with what I got specially for something that seems like it's going to be a part of my life for a long time based on its range and powerful signal transference stuff but for its original price of $600 I would assume there's likely other similar options that can make a good replacement. Mainly my connection issues before used to be iot devices so this having such an incredible bandwidth and management system has made things extremely easy to manage my smart home and other devices around the house In conclusion I'm very happy I was able to get this at a price I was comfortable with I am sitting here with no regrets and a faster more reliable Wi-Fi connection on all my devices.

Reliable high-bandwidth router with a easy-to-use
17 January 2023

I have been using the standard WiFi router that came with our service provider for some. The last six months WiFi dropouts were happening way too often, and my wife's iphone 11 was especially gets more affected. Without realising a disconnection when she tries to start Chromecasting any videos for our unsettled kids, it obviously fails adding to the drama. After much research, I decided to get Netgear RAX70. Installing it using the nighthawk mobile app was straightforward and reliable. I enabled all three WiFi bands with the same password, and all appliances reconnected seamlessly. It has been 3 weeks since the installation, the dropouts are a distant memory already. With the app, I am able to manage the router and connected devices easily, instead of using a laptop through a browser. The app is intuitive. For example, enabling and customising the Parental Control feature for our kids was straightforward and the resulting status is nicely shown. If I need to access any advance settings like disabling a WiFi band, accessing its logs or configuring a USB share, for example, I can use the traditional way through the browser and access any advanced settings. We are a very satisfied customer.

Subpar performance with premium price.
9 May 2021

Out of all the Netgear devices I have bought (4 modems, 5 routers, countless switches), this must be the most disappointing considering its premium price while only providing subpar performance at best. I bought this router about 2 months ago hoping it would improve my network speed, latency, overall bandwidth, and reliability with Wi-Fi connectivity but it didn't do anything for me. The devices that I already had in my home; my ISP's default gateway and Google Nest router/ap performed much better in comparison to this. The devices at my home like my computers, wireless phones, TVs, etc. all supported Wi-Fi 6 and since I had the 2 Gbps plan with my ISP, I went out to buy this to replace my old network devices...and I totally regret it. The devices at my home like my computers, wireless phones, TVs, etc. all supported Wi-Fi 6 and since I had the 2 Gbps plan with my ISP, I went out to buy this to replace my old network devices...and I totally regret it. My ISP's gateway and the mesh system consistently give me faster speeds (by about 400-600mbps better) and lower latency with less jitter than this RAX70. The Wi-Fi range of my home network was so much better too until I replaced them with this router. And up until a few days ago, I just assumed that I had to tweak some settings to get comparable performance to that of my old setup but, I was wrong because nothing I did improved its performance. And finally, the thing that made me write this review and return this device tomorrow was the CONSTANT connection drops especially with my smart home devices stopping me from being able to control my devices like the light bulbs, speakers, etc. I have tried contacting their "support professionals" but the 4 or 5 representatives that I talked with were even more clueless than me. I'd ask them one questions, and the reply would be the copied and pasted definitions from Wikipedia and Google. The one thing that all of them never failed to do was recommend me to buy more Netgear products. I'd give these 0 stars if I could. So now I am back to using my ISP's gateway, my google nest mesh system and I also have my 2 old Nighthawk R7000 setup in bridge mode and AP mode-- and this setup is just 10 fold better than having the RAX70.
