After a lot of thorough research on routers, I decided to go with the Netgear Nighthawk RAX50 because it fit perfectly in line with my needs. The mobile app provides a streamlined, very easy way to setup the router that can be done in less than 10 minutes. It comes with an abundant amount of features such as the built-in online protection which is great and also gives a sense of comfort. The performance the router delivers is VERY fast and reliable and long gone are the day of my internet speeds being throttled by my old router. Compact, wall-mountable, solid features, great range, amazing speeds, reliable performance makes me very content with the purchase and it's been a very pleasant experience overall.

Live in a small ranch and my 10 year old router just wasn't doing it anymore. Did some research online and this one got good reviews. Good thing I did because there was no one to help me at Best Buy. Followed the instructions after downloading app but when router still couldn't be found needed to do the usual unplug and replug modem and router. Works great! Like the app too. Not the most attractive thing so for now I have it hidden in a cabinet until I get some suitable shelves and hide it behind a plant. Overall happy with purchase.

This WiFi router is way fast than my old device and the reliability is good thus far. It looks cool and setup was pretty easy.I do not like the fact I cannot set it up in bridge mode (or disable the NAT) so that my firewall can see the traffic from the devices behind it. I have crawled the settings, but see no where I can I configure this. There is no logging or anything either that I could leverage to achieve visibility, it just NATs to the external IP of the NightHawk.I really wish they’d add the ability to disable NAT, or bridge the connection, so the upstream firewall can scan the hosts traffic and report the connection flows.

I bought this NETGEAR to replace an old router that we weren’t getting good Wi-Fi with after getting smart home devices and switching to streaming from cable. This nighthawk 6 is fantastic! Very far range, I live on 3rd floor apt. And this picks up outside well also. No more Wi-Fi going out or having to reboot constantly. I like the fact it has the app too, can check strength, set for children lots of things even when you’re not home, set up was very easy, no more having to go on a computer to set up, just download nighthawk app and few minutes done. I love it!!! Highly recommend.
I have the RAX50 model. I upgraded from the R7000 router which is actually a pretty good router. The R7000 provided good coverage on my 1700 sq ft home and I had no pressing need to upgrade. I just wanted to upgrade to the newer wifi 6 standard. And get better coverage in the back patio. I used the Nighthawk app to set up the new router. Just had a couple of minor hiccups. But eventually, all my previous settings from the R7000 transferred over to the new RAX50. I have been using the new router for a couple of weeks and so far it works great. The coverage and bandwidth have increased nicely in every room. I even attached a portable WD USB hard drive hosting videos to the readyshare port. It streams videos to all my four TVs just fine. I also make use of the ethernet ports to connect to an older non-wireless printer and my Mac. So far after a couple of weeks of use, I can attest the Netgear RAX50 is a good router. Time will tell on the long-term reliability. (My older R7000 works as good as new.) Highly recommended.
I have 2 kids in middle school as young teenages. I was looking for a good router with some level of parental controls. I followed Netgear's web page at their "Smart Parental Control"'s comparable routers and first purchased the AX5400 from BHphoto. The router itself is alright as a router but the cannot activate the parental control at all. Call technical support, asked me to update firmware, re-install router, reinstall app, reinstall IOS, reinstal... nothing work. Keep gave me error (see picture). Returned it within 30 days in case is the routher's problem. Purchased another one to give it a try (AX4200, also listed in Netgear's Smart Parental control page). Same thing happened, not able to activate parental control. Called technical support again and told me ... MoreI have 2 kids in middle school as young teenages. Are you kidding me? So, I asked if the Smart Parental Control in Netgear's webpage is a lie. He silence and say, they are just not ready yet and new firmware will out later (don't know what's later). Now, I just need to arrange to return it again.
It seems Netgear has really thought things through with this device. As a non-IT professional, I was able to setup the Nighthawk AX6 6-Stream WiFi 6 Router (RAX50) myself. Not only was I able to set it up, I was also able to set up a guest network for temp users visiting for the day or the weekend. The iPhone/smartphone app makes it a breeze to do the initial setup and manage the router functions on an ongoing basis.Handling the unit, it feels solid, and visually, it looks like it was designed by those that designed the military's stealth fighter jets.Since installing the Nighthawk AX6 6-Stream WiFi 6 Router (RAX50), there are no more wifi deadspots in our home and even sitting outside on our back deck, we still get a great wifi signal.Netgear hit a homerun ... MoreIt seems Netgear has really thought things through with this device. Bought this router at the beginning of 2022 after reviewing 25 other routers. I've been in the IT business for 30+ years and needed an ultra-reliable solution for my business network without having to migrate over to NOC level aspect. The cost for this router was comparable to other high end routers. I also purchased the CM2000 Modem and discarded my ISP's equipment due to their unreliable functionality.Unpacking and setup was very simple and all equipment appeared to be brand new with easy instructions to get started. Changing the default login info was effortless and I was able to configure the entire process with no problems. Changing the default login info was effortless and I was able to configure the entire process with no problems. Updating the firmware was also unproblematic and the phone app installation when well too.Several months after the initial installation, I had some issues with the phone app. The app would not sort the list of devices connected and the reset function would not work on the app. Shortly thereafter, the phone app was updated and everything worked fine again.A couple more months later, I ran into a few new issues with the router. First, I cannot change the QOS function. If I try to define my internet bandwidth - the router interface does not save the setting and reverts back to the "SpeedTest" setting. Second, the "Security" says it is not enabled on the Home page of the router after logging in. Even though there is security setup on the routher and the phone app, it still says that it is "Not Enabled."Lasty, I am unable to turn OFF the "WPS" function and button on the router. The "LED Control Settings" just turn off the lights on the actual router device. This is not what I need. The WPS button can still be pushed and a device can be connected. The "WPS Wizard" get to a point when it asks to input a "PIN Number" if chosen not to use the recommended "Push Button" option. If a 4-8 digit PIN is not entered, there is an error requesting that a PIN be entered. And at this stage, nothing more can be done to disable the WPS feature on the router. So, minus the listed issues; it is a good router but I think I am going to go with the NOC network option and hopefully there will be no feature holes or discrepancies.
I had bought RAX50 a year and a half ago because I thought my RAX80 was bad. At the time I could not find another RAX80 so I bought the RAX50. This router is great for a mid size house with average usage. I have inlaws always streaming videos and two young adult kids always gaming and an extra large amount of devices. Well my Rax80 finally died after receiving a large power surge through the house. The RAX50 isa great router just is at its limit at my house, therefore only 4 stars and I'll have to go up another level soon. Otherwise my wife can't work at home.
The family has owned Netgear routers over many years upgrading them as the technology improved. Needless to say this router is the best one We have owed offering improved security, easy installation, greater coverage, wonderful app interface, and monitoring of devices connecting to it.
