The Iconic Neumann U47 fet is back! This New Collector's Edition U47 fet is produced with the exacting specifications recorded in the original production documents and schematics. The Collector's Edition is supplied with a high-quality wooden case with special packaging, and an individual certificate with the serial number of the microphone. The transistorized successor of the U47, the Neumann U47 fet helped shape the sound of the 1970s, becoming an icon for that 70s sound. The U47 fet permitted the processing of very high sound pressure levels for the first time, allowing positioning directly in front of loud amps. Due to this feature, and the capsule sound derived from its famous tube-based predecessor, the U47 fet contributed to many legendary recordings of the time. In terms of technical design, the U47 fet is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid directional characteristic and fet 80 circuit technology. This technology, also used in the U 87, is characterized by a wide dynamic range. Like its predecessor, the U47, the U47 fet employs the K 47 capsule which features a slight boost in the frequency response above 2 kHz. As the title would suggest, this mic is pricey for a reason. I’ve had many of the best clones but really this mic just has the true quality in both build and sonic balance. Desert island mic for sure.

I use this TLM49 to record vocals. I have used entry level condensor mics up until now and thought I might take the plunge with a high end purchase. The difference is very apparent. A lot smoother and pleasant to listen to. It sits in the mix very nicely and the track comes together effortlessly. I haven't tried other high end mics in the same price range or higher but will not be going back to buying entry level or mid price gear.

As the title would suggest, this mic is pricey for a reason. I’ve had many of the best clones but really this mic just has the true quality in both build and sonic balance. Desert island mic for sure.
I use this TLM49 to record vocals. I have used entry level condensor mics up until now and thought I might take the plunge with a high end purchase. The difference is very apparent. A lot smoother and pleasant to listen to. It sits in the mix very nicely and the track comes together effortlessly. I haven't tried other high end mics in the same price range or higher but will not be going back to buying entry level or mid price gear.

I love the Neumann U47fet. Although it sits in the shadow of its illustrious valve predecessor, I find it superb in so many situations. I first aquired one in 1985 as the main presenter microphone in my home DJ studio. In my days as a presenter on BBC local radio I had a very understanding chief engineer who was happy for me to exchange the Beyer M201 in the main studio for my beloved 47 when on air! I now own three U47fet mics. The first is an early model with the cardioid symbol on the front reversed. The second is my 1985 model and I now have my collector's edition purchased from Eastwood Sound and Vision recently. By the way the Beyer M201 is a great value for money all purpose mic!
Theres no choice better than M-149 for vocal recording, specially when you use it with an AMS NEVE 1073 mic-pre, it sounds amazing and nothing can compare with it.
This microphone is known as the ultimate kick drum mic. But it also excels on guitar cab able to take that high SPL. It's also an awesome vocal mic. Pair it with an Avalon Vt 737sp and boost the air band a touch for a killer Hip Hop sound. Pair it with a Hardy M-1 and work it close for that voice of God sound that so many VO artists are trying to achieve. Use it as your safety mic with a little high band boost against your U87 for ADR or yelling on your next animated movie. The U47fet is an extremely versatile microphone!
