Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 70, 1 fl

I saw this on the recommended safe sunscreen list and I’ve used their face specific sunscreen with no issue before. So I grabbed this for the trip to the Bahamas. Put it on right away. I burned so badly after 3hrs of early morning sun I can still hardly walk. My boys were fine, didn’t burn at all but my daughter and I did. Thankfully she was mostly covered with her swim suit but the few areas where skin did peak through she got pretty red too. I sat on the pool deck in a few inches of water watching my kids. Where my husband put this it was like I had nothing at all. My arms chest and face I used the neutrogena sensitive face and I did not burn. I should have tried this at home at the pool first. Lesson learned. Never had sun poisoning before but it is AWFUL.

I love this sunscreen. Of course, it's a little pricy for sunscreen. However its definitely worth every penny. It smells great, doesn't leave an oily residue. It definitely protects my skin, I burn easily. Plus, it's a great product for my skin. Doesnt clog my pores and it's long lasting. Of course, reapplication is a must.

Best out of 9 on our Mexico Family Beach trip

Our family of five recently went to Mexico for vacation. I packed 9 bottles of sunscreen, varying brands because I was not sure what works best or what we would like. This one BY FAR. A little goes a long way (which usually cannot say with sunscreen) and it absorbed quickly into the skin. The fragrance was not overpowering and I put on all three kids with no reaction. This was our families favorite sunscreen and I wish I would have only bought this (and I definitely would not have needed 9 bottles). Will purchase again and use this summer.

Disappointed!

Minuses: 1. The Scent. I was expecting the typical sunscreen scent which I kind of like. What I got was a cloying flowery scent, reminded me of a Freesia body lotion that my GF used to wear when we first met and that I hated. Why would they go this smell? Are they trying to alienate male customers who don't like flowery scents? 2. It turned white. After swimming, I noticed that my legs and chest had turned white! It came off once I dried, but it doesn't seem to be very water resistant. I had to apply a lot more once dried. On the plus side, I'm happy that is oxybenzone free, and that it did protected me somewhat. But for a 70 it wasn't any better than the Coppertone 30 that I was using previously. Does an AMAZING job protecting, but makes me look like a ghost. Review made by a black girl.

I love every about this sunscreen because I’m able to enjoy sunny weather without that uncomfortable feeling of my skin frying, however…..on dark skin this makes the color on my face look very flushed out with a white cast, even if I do rub it in real good. If you’re a black woman and you want something that will protect your skin from the sun well, this is a great product but it comes at the price of the white cast still. Haven’t tried this product with makeup but honestly after seeing how it looks on my bare face, I think that I will stick this one out.

Efficient, Perfect for Dry Skin, Not Too Greasy

It does what it is supposed to do: protect your skin especially when it is very hot and sunny outside. I went to Venice Beach with my family, they all burnt except me. Thank you Neutrogena sunscreen. It sinks quickly in the skin, which is a plus. I didn’t especially noticed a scent, there is a very light scent but very discreet, I barely noticed it. My skin is rather dry and sensitive but this one works perfectly on it.

The smell is much more subtle than of an average sunblock. The texture is also not too oily, although on the face it looks shiny. But it has an overall quite light feeling considering it's 70 SPF. Doesn't leave white cast. I'd say it's in my top 3 favourite sunblocks of all times, and I've used dozens of both mainstream and niche brands.Also a pretty generous volume for the price.

I like it

First of all the scent is so pleasant, it reminds me of a fruity smell and lasts for a couple of hours. I don't wear perfume so this is a plus for me. The consistency is very runny and thick, but when applied it feels super matte and makes your skin look shiny but it doesn't feel very dry but moisturized, so I wouldn't recommend it for the face but it's perfect as a body sunscreen since it makes your skin look pretty. Bought this sunscreen after watching someone do a UV test with it!

This Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF70 has become an important part of my daily skin care regimen. It easily absorbs into the skin and does well under makeup. Be sure to use a quarter of a teaspoon on your face and neck to get the full spf70 protection your face needs. Water proof for 80 minutes. Large bottle for the price and Walmart $9.89 has it for the same price as Amazon. Cheap enough to use on my entire body. Win Win in my book!!!
