Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Fluid Sunscreen SPF50 40 ml

I wanted to love this product because of its great price point and thought it might replace my la roche posay anthelios fluid sunscreen, but while they have a similar consistency (I would still say la roche posay is more watery), this one unfortunately leaves my face very shiny and feels a bit greasy. I have gone out in the sun with this no didn't get a sunburn so I'm sure the spf is solid, but don't love how it makes me look.

A fair review - positives and negatives.

Unless you measure it out every application, do you know how difficult it is to judge the amount you’re putting on? This sunscreen is so runny that’s there’s no way of getting the correct amount without specifically measuring. I wish it was thicker and would sit on your fingers rather that run everywhere.

Great protection for your face

Thank you for the opportunity to try and review Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Fluid sunscreen. I don't usually like to wear sunscreen under makeup as I find some are quite sticky and makeup doesn't like to be on top. But after trying this before makeup I found that it doesn't leave you with a sticky residue at all. It is lightweight and absorbs very easily into the skin and makeup glides on very well. I love that it gives you protection which I need with my face being exposed to the sun whilst working. I would highly recommend this product

Great sunscreen

I particularly like the very light non greasy feel of this sunscreen which is why I keep coming back to it. I also appreciate that it doesn't make me look shiny. These are bonuses really as It works very reliably too. I wore it, and reapplied every 2 hours on a summer day walking around Taronga Zoo and did not get sunburnt. This is amazing for me as a very fair skinned person who will get sunburnt even in the spring under an umbrella shade! The only thing I would love is if this came in a larger size.

Left me red and blotchy

I bought my first bottle of this last summer and noticed i got some stinging around the eyes. I've bought some again for a trip and this time the sensation of putting in over the week gradually began to sting until I no longer wanted to put it on. I woke with patches on my cheek and jaw like swollen and red and the skin flaky. What is in the product that can do this?

Love the ultra sheer feel

My daily facial routine starts with a serum then moisturiser and finish with the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. I wear every day. It is so light non greasy and fragrance free. I love that my face doesn't feel greasy, I don't have any breakouts spots or inflammation, plus you don't need a lot. I can honestly say that this is the best by far and I've used several spf 50 for my face.

Not for me unfortunately.

The sample size was great. The agitation ball reminded me to shake the product which I often forget to do. I found the liquid consistency slipped off my hand when I tried to put the lid straight back on but applied well to my face. I was j it silly concerned because of the whole it left on my face but that disappeared very quickly. My face e went quite oily to start which is odd because I have dry skin. That went away in a short time too. Although I did find it off putting. My make up applied daily and seemed to stay on the same as it would normally. The smell is neither amazing nor offensive/overpowering.

Not good for eyes

I have used one complete bottle of this product and second I’m about to finish but I’ve noticed that every time I use it my eyes are watery and even when I apply the product on my eyebrow bone I don’t know why I feel like the product is going into my eyes or even if the product is not applied around eyes. My eyes are watery and burn with this product. I recommended this sunscreen to my best friend as well and she told me the same thing that as soon she applies the sunscreen on face her eyes gets watery. After hearing her experience I can say that the product got something which irritates the eyes.

Room for improvement

To have a factor 50 moisturiser is fantastic but unfortunately it comes with that sun screen smell which lingers long after its application. Admittedly you get used to it, but it’s not particularly desirable. The fluid is considerably less viscous than the moisturisers I’ve used in the past, and I think I prefer a creamier consistency, however it goes on smoothly and is absorbed very quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with how soft it left my face. I have sensitive skin and it didn’t flare that up so another positive. If it had only smelt a little more pleasant, it would have won me over.

Ultra Sheer....Ultra Great.

All Neutrogena sun care products that I have used previously have not disappointed............and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Fluid did not either. I am very impressed with the product. I found it goes on easily and is not greasy to touch and not heavy on the face, so it did not clog my pores, excellent. It worked well using it under make-up and did not cause make-up to slide off, like some other brands I have used did. The tube is small so fits inside a handbag very easily. Will definitely be buying this for regular use, it is my new favourite face sun cream. I highly recommend this product.
