I was debating between this an a Macbook Air. I decided to go for this because it had a much better screen and audio (noticeable when viewed side by side in store). However, one of the other selling points was that I thought I could connect two external screens - wrong! It's only the pro version of this Macbook Pro. Very confusing and I was mis-sold by Apple employees who also got confused. In addition, it feels quite square and bulky, unlike the Macbook Air. I actually wanted to return it soon after purchasing it, but even though I took it back to factory settings, John Lewis would deduct 20% of the costs (one to be warned, no where does it say that online). So I decided to keep it.Overall I am happy, and with the M3 chip, the laptop should last a while. But ... MoreI was debating between this an a Macbook Air. But the bulkiness, expense and then general annoyance at Apple for making you pay extra if you wanted a nicer colour and to connect two screens is frustrating.

So this is my first MacBook and I must admit that it's the best in industry. 14 is not that bad, not big nor small, perfect for a lap top. I tried MacBook Air 15 but I felt a huge screen where I have to look right to left side by side, no doubt in that, 15 screen looks so gorgeous that it's difficult to not to choose. However, 14 has more display than the edges and body, so 14 looks physically small but it is covering more display which is a win.Pro M3, I haven't tested all yet, but well, it must function as expected. I downloaded a game and played for 20 minutes and it's start getting little warm, that's normal I guess.Sound is spatial audio, you won't regret not having headphones if you forget to bring one, the audio of these Pro speakers is Pro.B&H has wide ... MoreSo this is my first MacBook and I must admit that it's the best in industry. 14 is not that bad, not big nor small, perfect for a lap top. 5 Stars if you get this laptop on sale. I use this computer for basic video editing, and as a bonus video games like Grid Legends and American Truck Simulator at itâs highest settings with no problems. You still will need 16GB for some AAA games to run right on this machine. Great 120htz mini lcd screen, speakers, and itâs selection of ports makes this a pro laptop. Not to mention an external fan that keeps this laptop from throttling to much. 8GB is enough for me, but if your using this laptop to make money, I suggest you step up to the M3 Pro chip Macbook pro because this a great student laptop, but not so much a perfesional every day video editing machine. However, you can edit 4K videos with no problem, but the speeds to upload videos will be a little bit slower ... More5 Stars if you get this laptop on sale. If you want thunderbolt 4 you will have to step up to the M3 Pro chip which gives you an extra thunderbolt port on that laptop.

You wouldn't know it from the reviews of this page alone but this specific MacBook Pro model is a little controversial. And that's not because this laptop is inherently bad. It's far from it.For $1600, what buyers will receive is a fancier MacBook Air. They use the same processor (except the two added GPU cores) with the same base memory configuration. The added benefit you'll receive for the extra $500 above the base model M3 MacBook Air is the perks that come with the Pro chassis. You'll get the same great mini-LED display, more versatile ports, the added benefit of active cooling thanks to the fan inside the system, an enhanced speaker array, slightly improved battery life, and double the base storage configuration compared to the Air models. For some, that ... MoreYou wouldn't know it from the reviews of this page alone but this specific MacBook Pro model is a little controversial. You'll get the same great mini-LED display, more versatile ports, the added benefit of active cooling thanks to the fan inside the system, an enhanced speaker array, slightly improved battery life, and double the base storage configuration compared to the Air models. For some, that added cost of the M3 MacBook Pro justifies its similarities to the Air lineup. This product, however, exists to please a small niche that most people won't fit within. If you're in the market for a thin and light notebook to watch movies and listen to music, take notes, web browse, and use office productivity software, the MacBook Air lineup simply makes more sense. It's low power and efficient but is more capable enough to handle the computing tasks most people will need. It also has enough headroom for anyone looking to dip their toes into media creation whether it be basic video and photo editing or music production. You'll probably scrape by doing light coding as well.Let's say you're a professional creator though. You'll want a laptop that is capable enough to keep up with multiple dozens of browser tabs open whilst you edit 4k+ footage or large image files, work on 3d models, code, graphic design, large DAW files, and maybe even a little gaming. This laptop simply won't do the job. While the M3 chip is very capable, it's ultimately held back by the base 8GB memory configuration, which, to most people who work in software that'll eat lots of RAM, is nothing. The extra horsepower provided by the M3 Pro and M3 Max models of MacBook Pro combined with much more reasonable base memory configurations simply makes more sense to the power user.Neither storage nor memory is user upgradable. What you buy is what you will have for the foreseeable future of the MacBook. I wouldn't recommend going onto the Apple website and configuring this with more memory either. Just one or two upgrades will already push the cost of this MacBook to the same price as the 14" M3 Pro MacBook Pro, which, at its starting configurations, vastly outweighs the value and performance of the M3 MacBook Pro.Like I said at the beginning of the review, this laptop is not bad. It's really good and I think for the people whose niche that'll fit, they'll likely love it. Like with most MacBooks however, I'd maybe wait on a sale for this one.$1600 for a laptop with such a strong memory bottleneck is a little dubious, however, if you can catch it on sale at around $1400, which is what the price of this laptop is when it goes on sale at Best Buy, that only makes it $100 more than the 15" MacBook Air. If you were already in the market for one of those laptops, this might be a good consideration. For the tradeoff of a slightly smaller screen, you'll find that it's immediately a better value than the 15" at that price. You'll get a better display, ports, speaker, etc. not to mention double the base storage which Apple already charges $200 for.
I bought this on sale during the holidays and, full disclosure, I returned it.First, it came preloaded with macOS ventura and had to update it before I could even use it. Big fail.Second, I've used other macbook pros and the screen on THIS model was just -- worse. Either apple is saving the defective panels for this model or I just got unlucky. Either way, make sure you check it side-by-side with another top spec 14 inch (I did) before deciding whether it's ok.To be clear, the screen was still not bad and everything else was "almost" standard macbook pro level. The speakers sounded great, it was light and solid, and it is even a smidge lighter than the higher-spec 14 inch models. I did like it, but couldn't get past that the screen just didn't seem right. On ... MoreI bought this on sale during the holidays and, full disclosure, I returned it.First, it came preloaded with macOS ventura and had to update it before I could even use it. While the 8gb did better than expected, I still hit bottlenecks.Overall, I went with a higher spec model when it was on sale and I still think that's the better deal. If you snag this OB for $1300 you'll probably like it more than a 13 inch Air, but if really looking for a pro machine I would spend a little more to get the full ports and performance.
People are whining about this being overpriced and a bad value, when the laptop it replaces (13â MacBook Pro Touch Bar) with the same 8GB/512GB of storage retailed for $1499. So for $100 more (than the outgoing model), you gain a better mini-LED display with 2-3x the brightness (1000 nits sustained, 1600 peak), higher pixel pixel density (sharper) and ProMotion (120Hz adaptive refresh rate); better battery life; more ports (HDMI, SD) and MagSafe charging which frees up a Thunderbolt/USB 4; better webcam (1080p vs. 720p); High-fidelity six-speaker sound with force-cancelling woofers (vs. stereo speakers previously) and improved Bluetooth 5.3/WiFi 6E. M3 enables hardware-accelerated ray tracing which aids with video editing and provides a CPU performance gain of 15-20% (depending on single or multi-core benchmark). For people crying foul - they literally cut the 256GB and increased the price by $100 for all the before-mentioned upgrades. Best Buy frequently runs sales on these anyways so right now itâs dropped down to just $100 more than the 256GB that itâs replacing. People seemingly want something for nothing and news flash - everything is overpriced - itâs called having profit margins in a product. And if it wasnât overpriced companies wouldnât be around because no one can successfully operate a business in the red. Now that weâve established common sense - buy it or donât but stop whining about everything, respectfully.

I donât like to change out frequently.I hope what I have commented helps others feel good about making a choice to get this unit.
I truly donât know where to begin. I owned a Dell laptop and upgraded with this MacBook Pro. I honestly have no complaints. This is an exceptional device. I am eagerly adjusting to the OS. I am blown away by the picture quality and sound. I have not even begun to explore the countless features and overall capabilities of this laptop which works well with my AirPods Pro, however I prefer the sound being delivered by this laptop which is exceptional. This MacBook ideally compliments my iPhone Pro, AirPods Pro and IPad Pro. The devices are synchronized and function excellently. Although these devices may be somewhat pricey, I must admit that this was money very well spent. I have absolutely no regrets and would gladly do this again. I highly recommend this MacBook Pro.
Walked into Best Buy thinking I wouldn't buy anything. Went to the apple section to test the knowledge of the local sales people. Turned out they knew the product they were selling very well. Very surprising since I don't run into a lot of people today that care enough to be good at their job. That was the first selling point. Highly recommend the Winter Garden FL store. The sale person then explained all the ways I could save on the device today including how I could save money in the future (Which I actually did save money, explained later). Overall moved to a Mac because the sale experience and the knowledge gained about the product. Couldn't ask for a better experience. The person sold me apple care (always worth buying if you ever had to pay out of pocket for a Mac repair, parts are very expensive if they are major parts) and the bottom tier Best Buy membership. The laptop ended going on sale for less than I paid. Contacted their support and received a refund for the difference. The catch is that you have to monitor the price of the item you purchased for the eligible period. They won't just give you a refund if they put it on sale cheaper.
It's an Apple computer, & as such, no surprises if you're familiar with the brand. Biggest difficulty is determining what level of Macbook Pro to get, as it's pretty impossible to upgrade later. I went with 36 gb of ram and 512 gb ssd.The ram was necessary for photo editing, and although the ssd is small, it's large enough to hold all the programs, and storing photos on external drives is necessary if you're taking a lot of photos. An external 2 TB ssd is less than the cost of upgrading the Apple ssd from 512 G to 1 TB. Get a firewire or usb 3 ssd and you won't notice any lag in loading. The price from B&H was better than ordering direct from Apple, Amazon, Best Buy (yeah, they've got a local store, so I checked) or any other legitimate online store. I haven't done any movie editing yet, so can't speak to that, but it runs Luminar Neo, ACDee, Topaz Photo AI, and the Affinity photo applications well.Get a good hub that uses minimum usb 3 and you'll need a good external monitor, as 14 is too small for serious photo editing.Hope this info helps.
