New Balance 574 Carolina Blue

(312 reviews)

Women's New Balance 574 - Blue - Low-top sneakers The most New Balance shoe ever' says it all, right? No, actually. The 574 might be our unlikeliest icon. The 574 was built to be a reliable shoe that could do a lot of different things well rather than as a platform for revolutionary technology, or as a premium materials showcase. This unassuming, unpretentious versatility is exactly what launched the 574 into the ranks of all-time greats. As hybrid road/trail design built on a wider last than the previous generation's narrow racing silhouettes, the 574 offered a uniquely versatile mix of new, different, uncomplicated, rugged, durable, and comfortable that was adopted as a closet staple across the globe. That's why today, the 574 is synonymous with the boundary defying New Balance style, and worn by anyone.

A dumbed-down New Balance.

I missed the cue in the online description that these are actually men’s sizes. I have a narrow female foot that’s just not shaped like a man’s foot. I also hated the way that the
top edge from the heel to the tongue is raw and unfinished looking. It exposes an inner layer of thin foam and looks as if it would deteriorate quickly. These are the first NB
shoes I have ever not liked, but they went back to Nordstrom’s. First NB stopped making the 10 1/2 Narrow shoe size that was best for me, and now they are trying to fit
women into men’s shoes.

I’ve worn these off and on indoors and outdoors. Played about 6 rounds of disc golf around Knoxville in them, which was my main purpose for buying. They’ve already started
coming unglued at the front where the sole wraps up onto the main toe cap. The paint on the heel clip is coming off which is funny because it’s white plastic underneath, but
they painted it a slight cream color. The suede got really hairy very fast when gently brushing them with a soft dry brush to get dirt and small grass seeds off them after wear.
The foam midsole is really too soft to hold up to any errant sticks or rocks that may impact the surface, there’s some areas that are a bit ripped up. I’m not hard ... Show more

It’s totally a real casual sneaker and not worth it’s full retail price, I’m glad I paid much less for these by buying them from Going Going Gone, otherwise I’d be livid. New balance only has a year warranty for certain issues and these don’t qualify unlike other brands that stand behind their product. Just disappointed because I’ve had other NB that held up much better.... Show more

Comfy and Stylish
27 June 2024
This is probably my 5th pair of 574s. I keep coming back because they're stylish, wide enough in the toe box, and comfortable. My complaint would be that the sole wears down relatively quickly (the treat is shallow so you notice it and eventually it'll be slippery on we sidewalks) and the insole is poor quality. I change out the insole when I buy it and that solves half the issue.... Show more

Different department: separate from Macys
7 June 2024
Macys staff are always polite and helpful, apparently gym shoes sold in Kenwood are separate and independently owned. I don’t know how I feel about this product: but I can tell you that some of the staff members don’t belong in retail; and certainly reflect poorly on Macys! If I’d known in advance I wouldn’t have made the purchase there. Rude and impolite, unknowledgeable about their products and not helpful at all.... Show more

Nordstrom's Substituted A Different Shoe
27 June 2024
Gender Inclusive 574 SneakerSelect a rating below(Select 5 stars = Excellent, 1 star = Poor)★★★★★★★★★☆★★★☆☆★★☆☆☆★☆☆☆☆Gender Inclusive 574 SneakerYour reviewNordstrom mishandled this order from the get go. First, I never received an email telling me that my order was ready for pick up. My first clue was an email asking for a review of my purchase. Second, There was no apology when I mentioned this to the customer service rep. Third, we opened the box when we got home only to find that Nordstrom had substituted the shoe I had ordered for a different one. The one I ordered had bungee laces and they substituted a shoe with standard laces. This is going back on Sunday when we will be at the mall.... Show more

So comfortable
5 July 2023
I love these trainers, so comfortable and look great. Give that extra bit of height for us shorter ladies 😀. I would go up at least a half size . I got size 5.5 and fit into most size 5 shoes. If you have wide feet I would go up a full size. I have reordered another pair and gone for size 6 for a more comfortable fit so would say the fit is small. Will buy more in different colours, great for the Summer months with skirts and dresses ☺️... Show more

So far so good
21 November 2023
Honestly, the first day I wearn these shoes, I thought it was an unnecessary expense. I also didn't feel the comfort. But there after, I used to wear them. If they can sustain the shape for a long time, I will consider it's the real value of the product the money a paid. Otherwise it's overvalued.... Show more

So many colors! Love my 515s & 574s!
1 October 2024
I just ordered this lovely number! I absolutely love New Balance! I currently own five (5) pair of 574s (six pair counting the pair on the way), five (5) pair of 515s, and one (1) pair each an old 415 and 412v3. I think that all but my very first pair ever, a grey 515, were purchased from Joe's. I'm hoping for a camo hunter green, and true brown 574 to be developed in the future. If the red USA 996 ever comes down to an affordable price for me, it will be in my closet too.... Show more

wide heel, but overal great
21 July 2023
This is my first pair of new balance sneakers. It was very difficult to judge what size to get based on reviews. I’m typically a women’s size 9 or 9.5 and I went with 9.5. My initial impression was that they were way too big as my feet were slipping out of them. Actually, though, the length seems right - they just run wide in the back/heel. I laced them more tightly and it seems like that will help keep them from slipping. I hope so because the style is just what I was looking for!... Show more
