The Stray Rats x New Balance 990 V3 “Alternate 2” is a collaborative effort between the eccentric streetwear brand and New Balance on the revered 990 V3 silhouette. Following up on their Joker-inspired summer 2018 release which saw Stray Rats effectively add loud contrasting to New Balance’s 990 V3 model, the follow up “Alternate 2” applies a more subdued approach to its makeup. An earthy green suede resides on the mid-panel and eyelets with a grey mesh base on the toe and mid-panel providing a neutral backdrop. Lush purple suede overlays appear on the toe, ankle collar, and heel. Branding appears in the form of a reflective grey “N” on the mid-panel with additional New Balance logos covering the tongue, lateral panel, and heel. Stray Rats adds their own “SR-86” embroidered black branding on the heel. Completing the look is white and grey rubber midsole with ENCAP cushioning and a black rubber outsole.
