The New Balance 99x-series is one of the most successful and enduring sneaker lines in NB history. One of our favorite models – the 992 – is thereby often linked to one special New Balance fan. Inspired by Steve Jobs and his technical ingenuity, New Balance is brought back the »Made in USA« 992 silhouette last year - and not without reason! New Balance chairman Jim Davis has claimed that the original design concept actually came in a letter from Steve Jobs. He wrote to Davis because he was tired of wearing plain leather shoes and he wanted something »more sporty and hip«. He included a rough sketch of what he envisioned for the shoe and this formed the base that designers built the 99X series from.
