I have so much disappointment in these shoes. They are horrible to walk in for so many reasons of which I will list a few: 1) they feel flimsy and clumsy on my feet, walking is unstable and instills negative amounts of confidence in my stride. 2) the foam is entirely too much while simultaneously having the top entirely too little. They feel like I loosely strapped a stack of dish sponges to my feet using mere yarn. Oddly enough these shoes feel good if not ok while running I can only assume because it is then that they spend the least amount of time on the ground. Not usually something I consider when it comes to my running shoes but since I’m already so disappointed I might as well complain about this too… they are the ugliest shoes I’ve ever strapped on. I do not recommend these shoes to any serious runner or even anybody who needs to do any kind of walking, standing around, or just plain living their lives in between runs.

First 3 stars because quality of material and looks of shoe are really nice . #2 cushion of sole is like the most plush thing on the market with lots of squish / bounce which is light weight . If you are light on your feet with a narrow foot thin overall one fantastic shoe if you love a cushioned lightweight shoe . NOW the BAD the ankle of the show is low cut including the upper material /mesh . It’s far from a roomy shoe there 4E extra wide is overall a standard size / regular fit shoe . It’s way to snug on the foot especially in the toe box plus on top of the foot which leaves no room for foot swell or toe splay . It’s to snug and very unstable with no breathing room overall . Avoid these so called incentivized reviews also stick with the verified reviews < . Incentivized reviews can be not the real deal or 100% correct with people getting incentives for good reviews just my opinion not saying there bad just saying they might not be the real deal overall there misleading . I unfortunately had to send my 10 4E extra wide back after trying the shoe out . Ankle to low was creating minor supination from way to snug fit tight in toe box mid foot top of foot which with no stable ness overall just didn’t work for me . May this review help people new balance has great cushioned shoes but unfortunately this one isn’t for me …

I got the 2E-wide, female s/o got the regular D-wide, both of us using standard American sizing. This resulted in the perfect fit. So for a bit more comfort, the base wide version may be ideal for you.

My old Rockport sneakers had lost their soles in the parking lot at church. I was so surprised about this loss of the plastic soles. I haven't used these shoes for about five years, and the plastic disolved sitting on the shelf for so long. I thought this was the time to find some new sneakers. I drove down to Runners Route on Kapiolani which was difficult to access with all the no left turn signs. Then Charles helped me and I looked at several sneakers. I had used Brooks for many years and was dissatisfied with their performance. As a senior, I was very concerned with low impact, low compression sneakers. Charles showed me some Fresh Foam X 1080v 13's Medium width. I asked for a wide width of New Balance, and he didn't have a wide width there in the store. I used ... Charles showed me some Fresh Foam X 1080v 13's Medium width. I asked for a wide width of New Balance, and he didn't have a wide width there in the store. I used to have some new balance sneakers about ten years ago. This Fresh Foam design is a great improvement for seniors. I have been wearing them around the house in the afternoon and I am very impressed how one appears to float in them. Previously, the Sketchers that I had tried, were too squishy and I tended to over develop my calfs from trying to correct my balance with every step using my toes to improve balancing positioning. Yet these Fresh Foams are superior to any of the pervious sneakers I have tried! I am very thankful that Charles presented me with this selection. He suggested that I put on different sneakers on each foot, in order to try out how each shoe felt comparatively. I could tell there was a big difference. The other brand had a blocky step, while Fresh Foam rolled along with the walking step. I am preparing for the Great Aloha Run and am very thankful that there was a good salesman to recommend the best sneaker, New Balance Fresh Foams! These are particularly important for the senior market because so many seniors have trouble with their knees these days. So marketing to the Senior population will really help to improve safe health and safe mental health promotion, also. I usually spend Saturdays going for six mile walks around Diamond Head and Kapiolani Park. It is an important area for many outdoor enthusiasts, which is safe and warm semi tropical. I wear a Columbia Sun shirt to always protect from the sun year round. I hope that you improve marketing to the many senior associations and retirement associations that these new Fresh Foams are an excellent improvement over many previous types of walking shoes for seniors to enjoy more! I read with interest the Wikipedia Article on New Balance. in the mid 1800's, one of my distant relatives, requested from Hawaii that there be sent more shoes to Hawaii, because there was such a paucity of these items in the ship arrivals. In those days it would take an average of 6-8 months for ships to travel around the cape horn of South America in order to reach the distant islands of Hawaii, which are now the 50th State of the USA.
Eh. Hard change from the 12’s. The 12’s were so good. Best since the 9’s. The 13’s feel ‘washy’ and never really comfortable. Around 200 miles in, I developed some Plantar fasciitis symptoms that I’m pretty sure is due to the 13’s. These are one of those shoes you’re thinking about a lot while running, in worrying you are going to twist an ankle. They are just too squishy, washy, and high.My kids got me a 2nd pair, the NYC Neon yellow’s and they ride stiffer than my all black 13’s that have 300+ miles on. I’ll take them to test because I don’t hate the 13’s but they are not as good as the 12. The 13 is a slippery bugger in the wet, which is unfortunate. A little drizzle and you really need to think about shutting it down due to wearing ice skates, the old beacon ... MoreEh. Hard change from the 12’s. The 12’s were so good. Best since the 9’s. I’ve been a die hard NB user and fan but I won’t purchase another 1080, which has been my favorite for going on 5 years. Even the ugly volcano ones were better than these. NB is going to have to reconsider chasing the high stack competition, most people that I knew that wore NBs didn’t like what that company had to offer and NB is becoming a copy of them, why?
I purchased this shoe because I have a birth defect in my foot that has been causing pain and my podiatrist suggested wearing a running shoe for comfort. I researched to top brands and chose to settle on New Balance and the 1080 from a review I saw by Hes Kicks. I actually purchase the shoe the night it was released (10/13) because I had to do something fast to remedy the pain I was feeling in my foot almost everyday for the past 3 months. All I can say is there is a comfortable shoe, and then there is this shoe! New Balance has absolutely hit the target with the cushioning in this shoe. The pain I had in my foot has subsided completely and I have moved to wear this shoe as not only my workout shoe, but as a casual shoe that I wear to work every day. The pillow-y ... The pillow-y feel you get actually makes my cardio walks more enjoyable. I'm not a runner at all, but I walk for my cardio. I used to only walk for about 15-20 mins after my strength training sessions, but I walked 30 mins without a blink for the past 3 workouts. If you wear a comfort shoe for your job or if you are looking for a shoe to make your walks more enjoyable, please do yourself a favor and simply try the shoe. That's what I did and now I own 3 pair!
This is an initial review for straight out of the box fitment and overall design. I am 6' 3", 260 llbs, and the previous model of this shoe held up quite well, but it's lifespan was noticeably shorter than other high end running shoes I have worn in the past. On initial sight, the shoes have the larger sole that many high end running shoes are using. The black on black, in my opinion is perfect. Not dark gray, but black. I like the look of this shoe as a Gen Xer, not too flashy and won't show as much dirt. The feel of and fit of the shoe is very good and feels good in the toe, sides, and heel. No initial pressure points or gaps exist, it literally fits like a glove. The feel of the shoe as I walked, initially untied, made my feet want to roll outwards. After a quick ... The cons: Pricey, NEVER goes on sale, stock is always low, black color option runs out fast. Recommendations to users:: If you like them buy 2 pair because their availability is low. Recommendations to NB: Offer more of the same model, offer shoes with dark soles, and please include these in sales.
Amazing shoes that are lightweight and sporty looking with amazing comfort . I would give a 4.5 stars out of 5 just because sizing sometimes can be different when it comes to manufacturing process from one color to another idk why this is . In my opinion fresh foam x is a fantastic foam that conforms to the foot with a great plush feeling underfoot . Which is an awesome feeling when needed for sore our problematic feet. Weird I got the black on black in a 4E extra wide which did not fit was alittle snug BUT got a pair of grey on grey 4E extra wide that was great fitting shoe and true to size . Anyway love the looks comfort feeling of the shoe it has a great soft upper with awesomely plush cushioning . I have two different size overall feet so extra wide is much ... Otherwise wide would fit but foot issues can be horrible so conclusion the 1080 and the fresh foam x line is one of the best if not the best shoes on the market in my opinion. Fantastic sporty looking comfort is great and easy on the feet if you have foot issues our just need something that conforms to foot for comfort with achy legs and feet . The 1080 v13 / more v4 soon more v5 / and the 880 v14 are fantastic shoes depending what comfort you need . Most likely a awesome rotation if needed for comfortable shoes …
Unfortunately, I am disappointed with my purchase. I have been wearing 1080s for several years and have been very satisfied with the fit, comfort, and wear of the shoe. As much as I want to like the new v13 version I just can't seem to put them at the same level as the previous versions. So much so that I have been shopping around for any remaining stock of v12 1080s. The additional cushion in the v13s is nice, even though I never thought the previous versions were lacking in cushion in any way. It is the fit that is the problem. They just don't fit my foot like the previous versions. Also, for some reason the inside face of the uppers bulges out with a fold in the fabric. This shoe is terrible, I can not put it in any other words except terrible, I recently picked up running as my new hobby and heard good things about the shoe and I bought them to try them in my training and race day for a half marathon and they are the worst shoes that I could have chosen. They are super narrow, so if you have anything but a skinny foot I would go for a wide and maybe a half size up. These shoes will hurt the outside part of your feet trust me. These shoes during the race gave me terrible blisters on the arch of my foot, the ball of my foot, and left my toes swollen. The initial time I tried them on they were really comfy and felt great but after training in them and racing in them I would NEVER recommend these, such a waste of money and will never ... The shoes also really make your feet get hot since the upper is not really a breathable upper. My wife got a wide and she felt that the shoe was still to narrow for her liking as well. I am not a marathon runner by any measure but these shoes really left me tore up after the race, I figured I was sore due to it being my first race but a week after the race and my feet are still in pain due to these shoes. I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from these shoes for running. I got a Size 9 which is a half size up already and they still felt too small.
