I use for clay court play, very comfortable, nice shoe. I didn't give them 5 stars because the ankle collar does give you some nasty rubs if you wear no show socks. The new Adidas Avacourt figured out a way to not do that- I wish everyone else would follow suit. But this is overall a better shoe than the Avacourt- lots more durable

This pair fit me so well right out of the box! Have been wearing it for a few months and I find them to be super comfy and supportive. I no longer have knee, foot pain after playing tennis. Fyi, I have wide-ish feet and like more space in the toe area. Performs well on the court. Highly recommend!

I've worn New Balance, D width, Tennis shoes for years and have loved them. I have bunions, but with D New Balance I've always found comfortable shoes. This model (Fresh Foam X Lav V2) hurts, even after six matches they continue to hurt by the second set and I can't wait to take them off. How I wish WS085/New Balance WC 896v3 D Grey/Champ was still available. If someone from the NB company could tell me an existing shoe model that is most like it, that would be very helpful. I play tennis 3-4 times a week at a competitive level. I wear Women's 8.5 D width.

I play a lot of tennis. I love that NB has wide options. These are great, but VERY stiff when they first come. I got a killer blister on each front ankle area during the first two wearings, and I thankfully have moleskin in my tennis bag. If there's any way to soften these, NB should do it!
Not a bad shoe. I've have ALWAYS played in Yonex with full shoe "hard" upper support because when I tried other shoes with any give at the top, I just did not feel supported. I LOVE and MUST have a bright color shoe to feel like myself and just couldn't find anything appealing in my normal brand. Then I came across these beauties and decided to give this shoe a try. #1 for the color, #2nd because they had 1/2 "hard" upper support and #3 reviews of having a wider toe. My initial reaction, I did not like the fact I could feel the shoe fold across the top of my foot. It's taking some getting used too and I have stumbled over my own feet AND NOTHING ELSE multiple times in the process! I have not had the ankle blistering issue noted in other reviews. I have also worn higher ankle socks in an effort to prevent IF it was an issue, but even without them, I don't see that issue. The insole is very comfortable and power absorbing, no heel discomfort at all and there is plenty of room at the toe. Almost too much, but nothing a thicker sock can't help. Only uncomfortable thing I noticed is some ankle soreness/pulling just over the side and across. But could be just getting used to wearing a shoe that isn't overly supportive. After 2 weeks of playing in them and I'm still trying to find the perfect lace tightness to get the support I'm used to, but overall, I think they will work out!
I love New Balance. These were probably my 25th-ish pair. I wanted to try something new and a little flashier. These fit the bill. The colors were VERY bright, almost florescent. They looked cool but we're a little much for me. They were also about a half size too big so when I did put them on they looked very clownish. Again, this won't stop me from my purchasing more NB trainers, these particular ones were just not for.me.
I play competitive tennis 3 times weekly and the fresh foam lavs have been my "go to" shoe. I love them so much that I order multiple pairs to ensure I don't scramble trying to find another shoe. I wear a 7D, and the toe box provides enough room for the continual stopping and starting required in active doubles play. Unfortunately, the V2 rides higher along the ankle bone than the previous version. After 30 minutes of play I had blisters on all my ankle bumps. As they are super supportive and fit my wide toe box, I still give them a 3. I just used scissors to cut down the ankle area and they are great. However, for the price tag, I would prefer not to have to mutilate my shoe. Note: I wear through shoes pretty quickly so the rough look from my scissors doesn't ... MoreI play competitive tennis 3 times weekly and the fresh foam lavs have been my "go to" shoe. These are the fourth different type of New Balance tennis shoe I've tried, and they are hands down the most comfortable hard court shoe I've played in. My orthotics fit comfortably too. I like them so much I bought two pair! This shoe is the best combination of comfort, performance, and style (I love the colors). The D fits my wide foot perfectly. Keep up the good work New Balance!
I loved the fresh foam lav- and now they have changed it into something totally different. These were so uncomfortable for my feet- they rub my ankles & they are extremely wide. (I ordered wide bc that is what has worked for me with the LAV- but these are too wide). I never wore these on the courts bc I found them too uncomfortable to even try out around my house. So disappointed & will have to start looking for a new tennis shoe model! Why do shoe companies always change their shoes models every year?!!!
I returned this version of my favorite tennis shoe for two reasons.First, it was uncomfortable in a way that I knew would not 'wear in'. I have several pairs of that earlier version, which is the perfect shoe for me. It has great ankle support, and allows me great traction on the tennis court, without a hint of pain. Please bring that former version back! I would hate to switch from New Balance to another tennis shoe company, but I need comfort and stability on the court. I have tried two of your newer versions of the Fresh Foam Lav, and had to return them. The second reason I disliked the shoe was the fact that the lace holes on one shoe were misaligned. The shoe looked unattractive in actuality, unlike the website picture, which was very attractive. I will say the color was pretty.
