This is my first e-reader ever (unless you count my iPad) and I’ve been super happy with it. Electronic paper is cool! Particularly because it’s easy on the battery and clearly readable without any nonsense in bright sunlight. Opting for the more expensive Kindle (as in, without ads) and with the auto-adjusting backlight was a good move (I hate ads). I’ve never been annoyed by the backlight’s brightness level, nor its color temperature. And it can shift to less white light automatically or depending on your schedule, which is nice.Using the Kindle store has been an okay experience. I wanted something lighter than my iPad and more “beach/sun friendly” and this has not disappointed once.It feels good (and light) in hand with an ever so slightly textured plastic back. It’ll show oily fingerprints very well, but it feels good to hold on to if you decide to forgo a case. The screen front doesn’t show fingerprint smudges much, thankfully, and has been a pleasure to read. I’m far more inclined to pick up my Kindle and just start reading than if it was me on my iPad, etc. And with the battery sipping e-ink, I rarely have to charge it. If you’re in the market for one, this model’s worth considering.

I am obsessed with this device - it exceeded my expectations. The form factor is excellent, light and comfortable. The green is so beautiful. And I am really happy I got the signature edition. I got it because I wanted the auto adjusting light feature but was nervous because I saw mixed reviews about it online. For me it is perfect, I love that I can seamlessly move through different light conditions and don’t have to fiddle with the settings. I can walk around and move to differently lit rooms or even go outside without thinking about it. It does occasionally adjust randomly while I am reading but this is very rare (maybe once or twice) and feels like a small inconvenience that is very worth not having to adjust it from scratch each time. I pulled the trigger on this kindle while it was on sale. It was a little bit of an impulse buy so I didn’t do a ton of research before hand. I got it mainly to borrow Libby books from the library but also to buy books at a discounted price. The kindle is very light weight and intuitive to use. The device is about the size of my hand. I find it easy to hold with one hand, even without a pop socket. It also seems very durable without a case. I really love the warm light setting, adjustable backlight, and the dark mode and these were my main motivators for buying this model. The internet browser is a little laggy but manageable. Still, I wish that I would have known to expect the ads
