NHL 23 plays a good game of Ice Hockey on the Xbox Seies X but this is dependent on making a lot of adjustments to the sliders as out of the box its feels to fast and unrealistic to play. With these adjustments i am finding the gameplay very enjoyable, the audio especially the crowds cheering and booing is great but is it a big difference to NHL 22 which was also on the frostbite engine. The answer in my opinion is no. My biggest gripe is in the presentation for example when the teams come out onto the ice,the goalie skating in front of the net. This has gone and other promised enhancements this year like the laser show projected on ice, crowds waving glow sticks etc are only present for around 6 teams. The option in past games for full presentation has been taken out ... The option in past games for full presentation has been taken out by the devs inexplicably to replaced by a stripped down condensed option. To some this isn’t a deal breaker but as an offline player it really takes you out of the experience. Here’s hoping they resolve this with a patch.... Show more

Avoid this game
Basically you're paying for an updated roster. The GM mode is broken and absolutely frustrating, especially when you've drafted and traded to the best of your ability, keeping in mind the cap space, only to see your team - if it makes it to the finals, lose in the 1st or 2nd round to cpu teams with lower rated players. Should your team make it to the finals, next years team, if you've done minor or no changes, will most likely win the draft lottery or in the top 15 worst teams. X factor IMO ruined this game, think about adding X factors to newly traded players? it has little to no effect, same with gems in the draft, they amount to little more than AHL players or low elites that never seem to develop. Please do your self a favour, avoid this game.... Show more

Best NHL for Years
Always bought this title yearly but this time, very happy. General improvements on the usual but additional features make it one of the better versions in some time. Whilst not perfect, it’s enough to satisfy any NHL fan and is just as enjoyable playing on the couch with friends.... Show more

Finally...
I've always wanted to play using women's teams, and at a level that would probably be equivalent to Bantam level hockey. Add to that being able to get some Zegras like goals, that years ago would have been rewarded with a shot to the mouth, and you've got yourself another EA gem here. Compared to the competition (none), this IS the best hockey game available.... Show more

Great Game
Great game. Realistic features, great price for this game. The new mechanics and updates in the NHL game franchise are really innovative and easy to use. Amazing game overall no doubt about that. By far my favourite game to play since I bought it. Highly recommend to all ages who enjoy playing or watching hockey.... Show more

Persistent black screen issue
This game should not be for sale. It contains a persistent black screen problem where all of a sudden the game play screen would be blacked out. I had to uninstall and reinstall the game multiple times and it just keeps coming back. Does not look like EA is ready to release a patch as this problem was identified well over a month ago (as of Dec 5 2022). This is not the first year of the issue, but the first time for me that it keeps coming back. Not buying another NHL game until EA really start spending time developing the game. This is not a brand new game. Shouldn't take this long for a patch.... Show more
