Because the shoes are lightweight and comfy, exercising becomes a pleasure rather than work. The cushioning system is soft and responsive, and the secure fit minimizes friction or irritation.Overall, I feel confident and prepared for any outdoor activity when wearing these shoes. They're long-lasting, fashionable, and wonderfully comfortable, making them an excellent investment for anyone who enjoys spending time outside. Nike has also put small rubber spikes on the tread to further emphasize that point. I found it very cool to have and they didn’t impact walking normally. If this review were only about durability, it would be a 5/5.Stability wise it’s the same story. I took these on quite a few hikes and found myself wanting to tackle hills with a sharper gradient than I was used to. Somehow as thick as the outsole is, it never felt heavy or lumbering as I was climbing or walking. 5/5 here as well.Comfort wise I would say that outside of the trail it felt a little like overkill. These shoes are purpose built, but for an every day walker I found myself reaching for something else. ACG may stand for all conditions gear but for normal walking around, I’m not sure if these are the best fit.The same goes for the styling. They certainly look the part with all the spikes, mesh uppers and aggressive branding but did feel a little conspicuous wearing with a regular pair of shorts and going to Whole Foods. Transparently that may be a bit unfair because these were built for the specific purpose of outdoors activities and for that it accomplishes its mission brilliantly. Anyone looking to get in the outdoors-the proper outdoors-should have a pair of these in their closet.... Show more

This largely has to do with its roomy construction (especially notable for how Nike silhouettes tend to run more narrow) as well as the rubber mudguard atop the toebox. While I like this feature for protecting the wearer from mud and debris, it can take some getting used to. Once broken in though, they're true to size and fit well around the foot, with the toggle lacing mechanism both providing a lot of lockdown and ease of removal. And even through all that foam in the midsole, I can still feel the ground beneath me to help balance myself in rough terrain.Comfort - I was surprised at how comfortable these were after hours of hiking around. The Ortholite insoles really do a lot of the heavy lifting, but they provide quite a bit of arch support for those with more pronounced arches. While they're definitely not as comfortable as something like my daily walking shoe, the Nike Epic React Flyknit 2, compared to a traditional pair of hiking boots they are a dream to wear, and don't sacrifice any stability underfoot.Design - I love the design overall. The overstated "ACG" along the outside gives it that in-your-face 90's aesthetic that I'm loving more and more. The simple colorway with the bright orange accents are also beautiful, and I can see quite a few colorways working great on this model. Between the beautiful lines to the rugged and aggressive outsole, they're a fine design overall. My only disagreement is the text on the laces, I always hate that feature because it ages terribly - especially with how the toggle mechanism rubs against certain areas over and over. The letters will inevitably fall off and leave the laces looking wonky. But looking past the laces, the design works wonderfully, both in form and function. There are plenty of things to love about the ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low. Chief among them are the traction, support, stability and durability. With the heavy-duty rubber outsole with its aggressive tread, it offers grip in every environment faced. The design works well enough that it can be photographed nicely even in rough conditions and with "character" developed over time. But most importantly, they're comfortable for those long hikes up and down the hills, without sacrificing longevity. Cannot love these things enough!... Show more

Great pair of all-around, all-use shoes!
23 May 2023
Let's just start this out by stating how excellent a pair of shoes these are for just about any activity on-the-fly! I've owned a TON of different pairs of Nike shoes but this was the first pair of ACG's I've ever tried out. Suffice it to say that the 'All Conditions Gear' moniker is a pretty accurate description. Specific sports might not be played best in these (such as basketball, for example) but this is an exceptional pair of shoes for just about any outdoor activity. I was intrigued by the tread on these shoes--it reminds me a lot of the look of the sidewall on a brand new tire. With that in mind I was anxious to see what these felt like on-feet.When I first tried these on, I immediately noticed a slightly negative aspect about the wrap-around/over outsole ... MoreLet's just start this out by stating how excellent a pair of shoes these are for just about any activity on-the-fly! Specific sports might not be played best in these (such as basketball, for example) but this is an exceptional pair of shoes for just about any outdoor activity. I was intrigued by the tread on these shoes--it reminds me a lot of the look of the sidewall on a brand new tire. With that in mind I was anxious to see what these felt like on-feet.When I first tried these on, I immediately noticed a slightly negative aspect about the wrap-around/over outsole in the toe box. I'm not sure if this was purely meant to be a design aesthetic or what I could possibly see being a nod to the 'rands' found on rock climbing shoes. I digress though. Due to the lower temps that morning, my shoes were a little colder than they normally would be. This can obviously have an effect on certain materials--in this case the rubber of the outsole. Normally this wouldn't be an issue as the outsole is usually only found on the bottom of the shoe for tread and cushioning. But since this outsole wraps over/on top of the toe box, it resulted in some discomfort for me personally. I would take this complaint with a grain of salt, however, as each person's foot shape and how it interacts with the different contours of a pair of shoes is always going to be different. What is uncomfortable for me might not be uncomfortable at all for someone else. I did notice that after a little while though, the uncomfortable feeling went away. I presume this could have been due to the increasing temperature of the rubber outsole, thus making the toe box more pliable to the movement against my toes inside the shoe.Other than that small detail, everything else in the shoe was very comfortable for me. They fit great and one place I felt this shoe particularly shined was when walking across rocky surfaces, such as a graveled road--lots of support and very little effect from the rocks against the soles of my feet. Other shoes I have worn in similar settings would allow me to sketch out a map of where sharp or pointy rocks were protruding into the soles of my feet. Not the case with these shoes! With that in mind, these shoes seem to be focused on trails. The design of them would be a good place to start while referencing that notion.I recall seeing these shoes for the first time on the Nike SNKRS app and although I wouldn't consider myself quite a 'sneakerhead', I buy a LOT of shoes and tend to have a general style I gravitate towards in my purchases. That style does not usually involve shoes like these. But the design and style of them is what originally caught my eye. I thought, "These are different...but I like them!" Something about the contrast between the white and the dark gray/black colors found on the shoe, sprinkled with a few hints of the "bright mandarin" color way just made me look twice. After looking through the pictures a bit more, I was intrigued and decided I would probably give them a try. I was glad I did! I pretty easily wore these all-day long and don't recall feeling much discomfort other than that initial discomfort previously mentioned above. One thing I liked about this shoe was the lacing system. At a glance, it looks like any typical lacing system but look a little closer and you quickly realize that it's more of a drawstring lacing system with what has been referred to before as a 'shoelace button' used to essentially lock in the user's preferred tightness. Very handy feature and no need for tying any laces! The only thing I would change about this shoe, as you might be able to imagine after having read this review, would be the design of the toe box. I wouldn't have the outsole cutoff line come up as high as it does. Realizing that this is quite possibly a big part of making this shoe more versatile in its use, I would at the very least add a slight amount of padding on the inside of the upper to cushion the impact of the tops of the toes against the toe box.Other than that, great and very comfortable pair of shoes with MANY uses. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a great everyday and durable, but pleasant pair of shoes to run around in and get things done!... Show more

Great Trail Shoe

The ACG Mountain Fly 2 Low’s are a wonderful trail shoe. Used them for several hikes at a local trail and they performed superbly. They were also great as a daily shoe around town. The shoes fit great and with the adjustable laces it’s easy to slip them on and cinch them up for a snug fit. The foam midsole and lightweight plate helped ensure the shoes stayed comfortable enough for all day wear. The shoes feel great whether on your feet or in your hand as Nike used top quality materials as usual. The design of the Mountain Fly’s really pops. Especially in white. Another win from Nike and ACG. These have become one of my favorite pairs of shoes. While not the most comfortable in the world, you can log some serious miles from daily walking to some trail running and definitely hiking. The sole is very stiff, leading to a longer than average break in period. The benefit of this is increased durability, especially on altered terrain. I loved the covered toe box, which made me feel confident on rocky hikes. The excess protrusion isn’t overly noticeable which allowed these to be great daily wears. Nike thought of it all by also including a lace catch at the bottom of the tongue. The upper is soft enough to move with you, while also being insanely durable for anything I would throw at them. An added benefit were the small spikes throughout the shoe that added in grip on dirt and rocks. Similarly, while the upper was durable and stiff, they were very breathable which I find rarer and rarer in purpose built hiking shoes.Padding has also been added to the tongue, heel, and upper ankle to add in all day comfort as well. I cannot say enough good things about these for both terrain and daily wear. I’ve started adapting my outfits to wear these as often as possible.... Show more

I don't think it's advertised as waterproof, but I was messing around on some water crossings and got them wetter than I wanted...the shoes shed the wet and kept me dry. I was pleasantly surprised. The extended rubber toe cap is an understated amazing feature (anyone who has kicked a rock on trail knows!).The outsole pattern is a welcome upgrade from some older Nike trail shoes I have...especially where I live where terrain is loose dirt, rocks, roots, etc. The lace toggle is easy to use and holds tight, but it's not without faults (see below).CONS:Weight. This is a pretty hefty shoe for trail running. Lots of cushion, supportive heel piece, etc. weighs the shoe down a bit. I haven't noticed it wearing it too much, but picking them up to put on took me by surprise a bit.One note on the laces...there is a small loop towards the bottom of the lace area meant to hold the extra lace once you tighten the toggle. It works well, but for me with an average volume foot, there was a lot of lace material to put somewhere. I worry a bit about snagging this loop on the trail, although it hasn't happened yet. Might just tie a traditional knot at some point.... Show more
