They are definitely a lot more heavier on feet than other basketball shoes in my opinion and they forced me to play the game at a different gear which I didn't exactly prefer. Traction is decent on these and held up ok on an outdoor court.Overall, I'd only recommend these to people who play more power forward/center type roles and have games that rely on utilizing their bodies in the paint and overpowering their opponents in there.... I love the golden basketball on the tongue, the font they used to write "Cosmic" and the design of the whole sole, which looks like interstellar waves or something like that. My favorite part is the Nike logo, which is made of recycled material and looks alive thanks to the combination of melting red colors and texture. The only thing that I would change of the ones I have is that I would have made the whole shoe the same tone. The upper half is made of a lighter white, while the other half is more "cream" or yellowish. I would have loved the more vintage tone for the whole material.... Show more

While the Black/White or Grey/Orange models are the best colorways, when they're not on the court let them rest in your gym bag.The fit here is going to be where some people first start experiencing issues with the shoe. It's snug. I kept mines loosely laced for the first days or so. After a while they become more form fitting, which made a tighter lacing possible. And that's good because your ankles are going to get shattered otherwise. Definitely not the most comfortable basketball shoe out but I was able to rock em all day after the initial snugging.Performance, with the form fitting over time feel, is where this shoe works best. I didn't experiencing any slippage on the court, even after some rain the night before. Built-in responsive support under the balls of my feet took some pressure off landing, and exploding on the run. The extra padding on the neck around the back of the heel left movement feeling more nature but in a luxurious way. My only worry was while all this felt like there was good ankle support, I'm not so sure there is enough for spins and quick pivot moves where you're a heavier and heftier player. I also wouldn't recommend sizing up because once the shoe loosens up, you're bound to have too much toe room.Overall, here we have a decent basketball shoe with a bit too much going on in the design area, but could use a little more work in the performance areas focusing on your ankles and agility.... Fit of the show is really snug, it was a bit tough to slide in my foot. Felt overly snug, took a couple days to break in and start feeling some comfort, felt better after that but still snug! Not a huge fan of the design and colorway, I feel like burgandy just doesnt work on basketball shoes, I did see there are other colorways that are much more visually pleasing.I loved that it was made with recycled materials, this is a good direction for Nike. Cool that you could kinda tell up close, like the miscoloring in the Nike logo gave it character.Back to structure of the shoe, I did not like that the shoe makes a lot of noise at times when you walk, like squeaky noise, I guess from a combination of being too snug and being made from recycled materials. To get around that I had to make sure to tie them just right, not too tight or too loose, that was really annoying. Ive had similar incidents just like this with certain shoes, its a real deal breaker when a shoe is like that. But im sure with more refining it shouldnt be an issue in the future.Being overly snug means this is not a shoe that is good for all day wear, this shoe to me would be good for a pickup game of basketball or a casual shoot around, not for everyday use. For use only a few hours at a time max. When I did wear them all day and took them off my feet I really felt a sense of relief , not good. Like even though there was some comfort there it was obviously too tight. Needs more give overall.I liked most that is was made from recycled materials, design was cool just didnt like the colorway. I wanted to like these shoes but from the snugness, ugly color and noise its not something I would buy or wear. But with that said I hope Nike continues with the green push and stays away from burgundy on BBall shoes. Shoes are durable , just needs some tweaks.... Show more

Decent follow up to the Cosmic Unity

The Cosmic Unity 2 is the second shoe of the Cosmic Unity line. I played basketball in these shoes for a week straight and I think I have a good idea of what kind of basketball sneaker this is.The packaging is part of Nike’s sustainability efforts. The shoes came in a plain box with little fanfare or extras. The shoes themselves are touted as being made of sustainable materials which is nice and feels good for the environment. The shoe itself looks very bulky but it isn’t at all as it weighs 12 ounces. It honestly doesn’t look like any other Nike basketball shoe out there. The swoosh is low on the shoe, and there’s intricate lines of the design around the shoe. It looks very stylish and I could see someone wearing these for casual wear.Sizing for the Cosmic ... MoreThe Cosmic Unity 2 is the second shoe of the Cosmic Unity line. It looks very stylish and I could see someone wearing these for casual wear.Sizing for the Cosmic Unity 2 is true to size, but the caging around the sole hugs the bottom of your feet so if you’re a wide-footer I recommend going up half a size.I want to reiterate that I used this shoe for its intended purpose: basketball. I played a few pick up games to break in the cushioning to get a true feel for the shoe. It contains Zoom Strobel, a great Nike cushioning system.Performance was good overall. I play on a dusty court more often than not and there were only one or two instances of slippage on the court when coming down from a layup near the basket. I did not need to wipe down the soles because it rarely picked up dust which is a plus for me. I did feel that I could make harder turns if I needed to. The cushioning and court feel was a little harder to adjust to. It feels like there is a lot of cushioning and even after playing 4 or 5 times I cannot get a good court feel. Overall cushioning was good as it felt that my feet were safe but I wish I felt just slightly closer to the ground. This is just personal preference as I like less cushioning.I feel there’s good bounce due to the cushioning but I also want to say that I felt that I couldn’t get enough strength pushing off. I felt just a half step too slow more often than not.Overall this is a great shoe that is another addition to Nike’s Move to Zero initiative. I would recommend this shoe to basketball players who like lots of cushion and traction that doesn’t need to be wiped down a lot.... Show more

Good looking shoe

This Cosmic Unity 2 is a great looking shoe. I love all the small details that went into constructing this shoe. The design and fabrics all go well together. The main color of the shoe the cream color with the little bits of red almost looks like Tweed. But a very classy looking clean Tweed I like being able to see the stitching that looks like a little ropes that have been stitched together with a hint of bread. I like all the hints of red, more like a burgundy or maroon color. With the accent of the Nike swoosh in a multicolored pink with hints of blue and green when you get up close to it. The heel of the shoe has a lot of sole and provides a lot of support. There's even some writing on the back of the heel that almost looks like I hieroglyphics, I'm not sure what it means but I really like the look of it. The tongue has a nice gold seal on it which is also plastic so it seems like it would not change or wear away over time. The tongue has a lot of cushion in it and breathable air holes which offer a lot of cooling to your foot. The only thing I did not like about the design of the shoe is the red strap on the back that you used to pull the shoe on. It's a bright red. It does not match the other reds and the shoe which are a darker color. But it's not a deal breaker I just don't care for it. Other than that the shoe is designed amazing. As far as comfort goes, it's all right. It does have a nice high arch on the inside part of your arch. Down near the toes I feel like there's a slight curve up on the outer side where your pinky toe would be so I did find it a little uncomfortable in there. The tongue has two different materials as I mentioned before the one section which is closer to your toes is where the air holes are. And then right above the top part of your foot it switches material to a solid and you can kind of feel the same on the back side so you feel it on the top of your foot. It's not uncomfortable, but it's definitely noticeable. I still feel like I can wear these shoes all day without discomfort. I just think there's a little more room for more comfort. I would prefer a little more cushion inside the shoe. The sole it's pretty firm. But not in an uncomfortable way. There's just a little room for improvement which I could easily stick a insole in there if I didn't feel like my toes would be smushed in doing so. Overall I like the shoe, I think it looks great. I think it looks sporty for playing sports but also looks nice with just jeans and a T-shirt. The colors of the shoe are on point. Great looking shoe.... Show more

Great pair of versatile shoes
2 May 2023
I have worn these shoes several times for a variety of activities (walking, workouts, basketball, casual) and they have held up well in every category. The first time I wore the shoes, I was skeptical about the mid-sole of the foot (see second photo below for better image of the particular area) as it caused my foot to feel a bit uncomfortable and strained. However, when engaging in more physical activity, the shoe held up incredibly well and I did not feel any discomfort. In fact, they absorbed shock from jumping and running incredibly well which actually reduced knee and ankle discomfort relative to a traditional low-cut running shoe. I appreciated the low-cut nature of the shoes that allows for more versatile use than standard high-top basketball shoes. However, even on the court, these shoes fared well. While they are not the lightest basketball shoes, they are also not bulky or remarkably heavy. They provide solid stability when cutting and running which was a welcome surprise. The laces worked very well and allowed me to tighten them to a proper fit which does not always happen since my feet are somewhat narrower than average. The sole provides great grip and traction and held up well on a host of different surfaces (laminated floors, concrete, hardwood, etc.). I would have given these a 5 star rating were it not for the initial foot discomfort that I received but that admittedly may have just been a result of needing to break them in a bit and have my foot acclimate to them. I am a big fan and while I would not rank these above my favorite basketball shoes (Kobe IV Proto), they are solid, relatively stylish, highly functional, comfortable, and versatile.... Show more

Great, Simple Hoop Shoes For Most

My feet didn’t move around when cutting/changing directions, which is a testament to the supportiveness. Also the break-in period was almost non-existent, with no blistering on the first wear. These shoes do run a little big. I usually wear 10.5 but these feel slightly longer than other Nike 10.5s I wear. Although I’m not sure they run big enough that I’d size down.Overall these are pretty great, all-around basketball shoes. I think more casual/pickup hoopers will especially like these shoes as they are a really well rounded shoe. They feel made for the average basketball player, not tailed for gigantic professional players. One thing I’d change is the tongue. It’s connected to the shoe so if you’re old school and like pulling the tongue up and lacing em tight, you may not like the connect tongue... Show more

Look and feel are great. I wanted to love these shoes, but tbh nothing has ever hurt my feet more. Cuts off circulation after 30 minutes of play. I have thin feet and still these are still ridiculously thin. And you have to keep them tight or the heel slippage is next level. Maybe my feet are just shaped wrong for this shoe. Theres literally zero torsional support or shank. Which doesn't help at all if your over 6'4", 210 lbs, and shifty. Even with insoles the support ain't there. And something has to be wrong with the heel lockdown/achilles pillows. These shoes single handedly gave me achilles tendonitis and every I try them out again it comes right back.
