Impressive breathability. Impressive comfort. Impressive looks. To go in depth with how the shoes perform while running, I'd say they are the best running shoes I've had to

The upper, midsole, and outsole (or lack thereof) still feel like I just took it out of the box. The upper is holding up better than my Vomero 14, which I've had since June '19. The ER's have fewer to no abrasions and rubber being less degraded, despite me having used them twice as much instead of alternating. Second, the grip on wet road is surprisingly good. I think this is because the midsole is not actually foam like TPU (Boost, Everun, etc...) but rather a synthetic rubber. That's what I think is the main contributor to that. I've had no slips on any wet road, whether it be currently raining or it was rained on before, and surprisingly no slipping on ice in the winter season. If you're like me, and you've also used these for some gymnastics and parkour, these are fantastic. With all that out of the way, here are my part-specific thoughts:The upper is really good. It adapted to my wide feet with no break-in period, it breathes really well, and I can wear them sockless with no discomfort. The upper does feel heavy though when getting splashed on, and the laces sometimes come undone with constant rain. The upper fits true to size, and I think Nike has a winner with this shoe for the upper. The midsole is near perfect. React is near perfection because of it's unheard of durability, comfort/cushioning, and responsiveness, along with being quite lightweight. My only gripe is that over time in a run, these shoes start to feel heavy the more I settled into my XC training runs. That doesn't mean it's gained weight, what I mean is that when I walk, it feels extremely light, then I run; the first ten minutes feel like wings on my feet, the next 5 minutes (three miles at that point) feel a bit sluggish. The degradation on the midsole isn't that bad, and I honestly don't mind it since it hasn't had an effect on performance. Other than that, React is nearly perfect for training cushioning. The outsole isn't much. It's two pieces of rubber on the heel and toe, with the midfoot being exposed React. It does what it needs to, and it's much more durable than my Vomero 14's, as mentioned previously. Surprising, but for the better.Overall, I'll give these shoes a 9 out of 10. Had the initial weight been slightly lower, maybe about a quarter to half an ounce lighter for my 11.5 pair, this would be an all-out 10.... Show more

When running, the foam compresses just enough to take the edge off of your step and then some while not feeling like you're running in ankle-high grass. The shoe is molded perfectly for people with an average arch and the gradual curve at the front and back of the sole makes sure your shoe still has a lot of surface area on the road for traction without having to bend your foot excessively. The flyknit top keeps your feet aired out the entire time (though if it rains your feet are soaked even faster) and the sock design conforms to your feet nicely (also lazy people like me find it easier to put the shoe in). I've seen reviews saying the middle foam wears out quickly after a few runs, but I've already done about 40 miles (on gravel, trails, and road) and haven't seen any noticeable wear and tear.Onto aesthetics, I personally love the looks of my shoes. I like the bold color contrast of the hard-plastic heel-backing and the flyknit top, though this opinion does vary from person to person (I have the red orbit and team gold shoes. It's a hot topic on my cross country team whether my shoes are the ugliest or the best looking ones on the team). The general shape of the shoe is appealing and the exaggerated Nike swoosh Looks cool even to those who aren't very interested in branding. Overall they are nice-looking shoes.Just as an aside, I've noticed that since I got these shoes the tightness in my calves has subsided greatly, probably because of the cushion. Further proves my point of comfy shoe.My final verdict: buy them if you can afford them. They're great for long distance running and look pretty cool!Note: I rated the durability as such mainly due to the exposed foam on the bottom which logically won't last as long as entirely rubber bottom shoes.... React soles are super comfortable
15 May 2019
This is my first pair of Nike's with the React technology and I have to say the sole is very comfortable, I can't imagine getting on the treadmill without it now. Nike makes this same shoe, the phantom, with no laces......and when you put these on, you can see how that easily could be the case.It feels as if I could remove the shoestrings in these right now, and still run on the treadmill with no problem, that is how snug the shoe fits. The fabric is very stretchy, yet firm, so you may have to stretch it out to get your foot in there but with good purpose because once your foot is in, the shoe hugs your foot tight. The fit is true to size, I wear a size 10 at all times and it is no different here.I haven't owned them long enough to speak on durability, but the ... MoreThis is my first pair of Nike's with the React technology and I have to say the sole is very comfortable, I can't imagine getting on the treadmill without it now. When I walk in slides or flip flops, I tend to step inward on the back heel, wearing the sole out unevenly. I am hoping that these don't end up like that, where I have worn them out to the point of making the shoe off-balanced. Other running shoes have that solid/balanced support that they won't let me shift to one side, but these are very, very soft/cushion-y on the sole, just interested to see how they hold up over time, as they are my only gym sneaker right now I will be putting them through the paces over the following months.Overall very impressed with the comfort of the sole when running.... Review after 50 miles of running
23 August 2020
Disclaimer: Nike shoes fit my feet and perform great. I've been wearing Nike as my sneaker of choice, whether it be for running, basketball, baseball, casual wear, etc., exclusively since 1987. I'm a little biased, and am a believer in the quality of their product. Here's my review:For years, I've worn the Pegasus models for my training, which is predominantly on a treadmill. With the pandemic, I wasn't able to shop in person at a Nike Factory Store, so I shopped online (a great experience - Jeramy is really helpful). I look for running shoes with high initial price points (usually indicative of time & resources Nike has put into the shoe) on sale at a great price, as color of the shoe doesn't matter to me (since I'm indoors on my treadmill). So, I thought I'd ... MoreDisclaimer: Nike shoes fit my feet and perform great. I look for running shoes with high initial price points (usually indicative of time & resources Nike has put into the shoe) on sale at a great price, as color of the shoe doesn't matter to me (since I'm indoors on my treadmill). So, I thought I'd try these shoes.I've run in these shoes for 55-60 miles thus far. I've done long easy runs, longer tempo runs, and some speedwork at or below 5K race pace. Longest run was 10 miles; shortest was 6 miles. All miles on a treadmill in these shoes have been run at a 1% incline. Shoes not worn on consecutive days (I swap shoes out, so at most, these are worn every other day). The fit is great and secure. I wear arch supports from Good Feet, and they fit beautifully in these shoes. They don't move around at all, so that's a plus. The shoe seems to be a tiny bit narrower than the Pegasus, so if blackened toenails are an issue for you, you might want the slightly wider toebox on the Pegasus. The cushioning is lightweight, but adequate. I haven't been fatigued due to the shoes yet. The first run in them was like running on a pillowy cloud. I liken it to a Tempur-Pedic mattress, but much thinner of course. The shoe is well-ventilated. My feet sweat as much as anyone else's when doing a lot of miles, but you don't feel it in the shoe, and I have noticed that my socks aren't as wet after my runs as I would in a Pegasus (which I find better than most already). The inner sole is removable, as it is in most Nike running shoes (there are exceptions, so if this matters to you, ask before you buy). These are a little thinner and lighter than the Pegasus inner sole, so we'll see how these wear over time. In the Pegasus, I've found the right about the time I want to replace the shoe, the inner sole is starting to show wear, too, so the timing is good for replacement. I hope for the same here, unless, of course, it's a shoe with a short mileage life, in which case, I won't purchase again. So far, I like the shoes. As they're lighter than the Pegasus, I might consider racing a road 5K in these (I detest spikes and don't compete enough to warrant racing flats). Right now, if the price is right and I need another pair of shoes for running, I'll go this direction. Time will tell on the durability issue, but so far, so good.... Show more

Stylish, Comfortable, but........
21 August 2019
Purchased this shoe at the end of March. Started using it two weeks later at the beginning of April. The shoe is great looking and extremely comfortable. So comfortable that it feels like you are walking on pillows. I would have given this shoe a 5 star rating if it were not for the sole. I have used this shoe approximately every other day (in rotation with another shoe) for daily casual wear and a 1 mile walk on concrete and asphalt. The sole has quickly deteriorated in 4.5 months of use. The outsole and midsole almost seem to be molded into one layer that is made of a very soft material. The material seems to break down very easily and rapidly when used on a hard surface. Super comfortable, but not durable
24 May 2020
This Epic React FlyKnit is really super super comfortable, but for anyone who is considering to buy these shoes, please think about the durability. Actually, before I bought this pair of shoes, I checked some reviews. Many people mentioned the poor durability, and I really doubted those reviews at that time. But today, I checked it by myself. It's totally not durable. I just wore it 5 times and every time I ran about 4 to 5 miles (outdoor). The soles were broken already. It's so unreal.I have to say if you are going to only run on a treadmill, you should go ahead to buy these, it's super comfortable, but definitely not for outdoor running.... Show more

Try these if you have plantar fasciitis
3 May 2020
I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis since 2012. I started running again in earnest last year, sticking to the known stability shoes out there. The heel pain started to pick up again. Then I bought these a couple months ago and what a difference. I still need to stretch to keep the problem at bay, but can run longer (up to 19 miles so far) and faster without being in pain during or after the run. These are so soft, so the entire foot is much more involved, including the toes. Maybe it is the more natural movement rather than trying to keep your foot all encased in a rigid platform that helps. I don't even wear insoles for overpronation with these, which I have worn with all my other shoes religiously over these past eight years. Very comfortable, accurate fit, lightweight...
19 May 2020
This is probably my 6th pair of these version of Flynits. I am 5'11", 210lbs and run in these everyday...well, almost everyday. I average between 30-35 miles per week. I typically replace these shoes every 3-4 months. They are durable for the most part with wear usually occurring on heal.
