(483 reviews)

You're one of those athletes who run around the clock, challenging and encouraging each other to shatter goals. This must-have training shoe features a lighter, more breathable upper than our previous version without losing any of the strength and comfort to help you perform at your best and dominate your workouts. This version features a retractable heel that allows you to put it on without your hands and then snaps back into position to hold your foot in place, while the flexible heel retracts when you put it on and snaps back into place. Flexible and responsive, the Nike React foam provides comfortable, lightweight and dynamic cushioning when you engage in cardio workouts and sprints. Grippy rubber wraps the arch for intense rope climbs. The rubber outsole gives you optimal grip and stability when you go from the gym floor to the pavement. The flat, wide heel gains stability with an internal plate that distributes weight from edge to edge. It also moves with your foot for comfort during your cardio workouts and sprints. Lightweight mesh with textured reinforcements on wear areas to give you maximum coolness without losing strength. A tongue locks the laces with a Velcro closure to keep you out of the way. A heel clip keeps you from slipping when exercising against the wall. Grooves on the sole allow the forefoot to bend naturally.

An excellent gym shoe

I did a lot of research on the best cross trainer shoes (I wanted a shoe that was good for my calisthenics at the gym) but wouldn’t break the bank. Metcons were well regarded
and often are in people’s top 3 gym shoe. Having tried them for a few weeks, I can understand why. They have excellent grip, breathe well and are fairly low/flat for
balance. The downside is they run a little small/narrow. It’s in line with Nike’s usual shoe size but there is a slightly more narrow arch. If you haven’t worn Nike’s before, it’s
worth trying a pair on before buying.Lastly, you won’t be able to run in these comfortably. They aren’t designed for that but keep it in mind.I’m glad that this sho... Show more

Awesome hard surface training shoes. Its a thumbs.

They are a great shoe for training on hard surfaces. They have exceptional grip and are nice & firm (i.e. not much cushioning). I use them for martial arts training on concrete
and find that they great for explosive movements and change of direction. Given that they have a very flat sole with not much cushioning I dare say they would not be great
for running. Early days yet, but they seem to be holding together with the punishment I've been dishing out to them, unlike most of my previous cross-trainer style shoes that
have had there multi-segment tread lift off or cushioning start to compress/collapse over time.

Bought a pair on September 4th because they seemed cool, light and confortable; I truly didnt need them and the local representative recommended me them for training.
On the other hand, I was not ware that the shoe was not designed to be used on hard surfaces like asfalt, concrete or sports courts.I probably used them no more than 15-20
times until I had an accident at the basketball court. It seems that the soft layer wore out quickly while training on outdoors.A couple weeks ago while training indoor
pickleball, I extended my leg and the hard material (red/orange) came in contact with the surface (floor). I slipped badly hitting the ground with my elbow/hand. ... Show more

I slipped again and at the point I decided that I should retire them.I wore them now on my errants to match my jeans. These are expensive shoes for daily basis usage. Only recommended to be used on soft surfaces (rubber, wood, etc.). These shoes were only used for training since I have my running and tennis/pickleball shoes designed for such sports.... Show more

Happy Purchase
16 January 2023
The Nike Metcon 8 is a great training shoe for the gym. It provides great arch support and a sturdy heal for lifting. I wouldn’t you use this shoe primarily for lifting as the constructs of a proper lifting shoe would provide greater support in the right areas, however, for all purpose gym training this is a phenomenal shoe. The lace lock on the upper tongue is great to avoid your laces coming undone during a training session.Note that the show has a firmer feel on the soul when working out in relation to more cushioned Nike shoes like the Pre Days.... Improves my balance
31 March 2023
Very comfortable and supportive shoe. Look the images over carefully if you are ordering the shoe in black. I did not notice the shoes I selected adds extra features that the other colors do not have. There is a plastic rim around the back to help pull the shoe on and a velcro tab to hold tied laces in place. I would likely have opted for the regular model. The stability of this shoe is a big help for my balance in strength training.... Show more

Nike is working backwards
13 November 2022
Toe box runs a bit small and is much more narrow the length of the shoe versus the last model. Not great at all for rope climbing as the sides of the shoe are already starting to peel and deteriorate. As a convenience thing, Nike should not have gotten rid of the bottom piece of Velcro that holds the lock tab in place when tying your shoes. Overall, not a good shoe, and Nike continues to move away from a product they once mastered.... Show more

Quality shoe
7 April 2023
I've had mine for about a month, and am very happy with them. They have a harder flat sole. Perfect for squats and deadlifts. My heel sits nice and deep so they do not feel like they are going to slip off. Only complaint is they are a little clucky. It just took some getting use to, since prior I was just working out in running shoes which are obviously lighter. If you are looking for a weightlifting shoe I highly recommend.... Show more

Run small. Nike Misses the Mark on Fit
18 October 2022
I just got these Met 8’s and could not be any more disappointed. Ive been using the Met 4’a for the last few years and love them. Wide toe box, good fit and true 10.5. These have a much narrower toe box and feel a 1/2 size small/tight. Returning them and looking for an alternative. They look great. I just don’t understand why Nike decided to change the shape of the shoe.... Show more

Super light
18 September 2022
I use these shoes for HIIT workouts. the first thing I noticed is that these shoes are super light. They feel like slippers. they have a great lockdown on your foot and seem pretty durable on the upper. They have a low-to-the-ground feel and the cushion is soft under the ball of your feet. The best part I like is the heel is so stable when you are doing squats and lunges. They loosen up in the upper the more you work out and use them so they could feel looser over time. you might need to try on your size and a half a size smaller.... Show more

zero cushion or bounce.
7 April 2023
These are not for running or walking. These are purely a power lifting training shoe. If you want to lift weights get these. They have good ankle support and stabilization. They have zero cushion or bounce . I wanted more cushion in my step so I will be returning these . The tongue has a Velcro for the laces which is cool. The tongue is super tight so if you have high arches like I do may need a different shoe. They have a wierd plastic hook in the back but not strong enough to pull shoe up with , purely decorative and kinda ugly imo. See pics. Over asthetic gets a 9. Comfort gets a 3.... Show more
