The Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GTX is a great functioning and looking shoe. At my first try on, the shoes fit very snug. I only needed to adjust the mid foot part of the laces and that
solved the problem. The cushioning is very comfortable. Another thing I want to mention is I feel very stable with the design of the shoe/sole. It makes me confident I won’t
roll my ankle on rocky terrain or running down a dirt hill. The loops on the tongue and heel makes it very easy to put the shoe on and off even with wet socks. Also, another
worthy mention is the sock liner that comes out of the collar of the shoe. It not only helped keep sand and rocks out when I wore it, but it also is very comfortable... Show more

I highly recommend these Pegasus Trail shoes. Usually I go for trend and style over comfort and tech but these changed my mind on what footwear I should be considering! It
felt like a pillow under my feet at all times. Also, my chiropractor recently diagnosed me with having pre-Plantar and heel spurs on my right foot so wearing my current
rotation of sneakers kind of was painful for me. After using these, it alleviated it IMMEDIATELY and I was able to do 2 miles around the lake with zero pain. It saves me from
having to spend over $400+ on custom orthotic insoles. The material feels sturdy and solid and seems to be worth the MSRP. GORE-TEX can protect me from the... Show more

It not only helped keep sand and rocks out when I wore it, but it also is very comfortable for my heels.I’ve only gone for a 3-mile run on dirt/sand, but the entire time, I never loss traction. The shoes grip very well with every step. The cushioning of the shoes really helped absorb the energy from the harder surfaces and allowed me to maintain speed and keep my legs going. I originally thought the heel of the shoe might be awkward or trip me going down a hill with how much it sticks out, but it really helped propel me forward and wasn’t intrusive at all.I haven’t been able to run on harsher surfaces, but I can tell the materials of the shoe will help keep my feet protected. Im confident if I were to accidentally kick a rock or brush up against a hard surface of some sort that my feet will be protected. Also, I went on a run in a triple digit day. I was curious on how the shoes would feel if the inside were to be wetter. So, I walked down to the river and soaked my socks in it and proceeded to put them back in the shoe dripping wet. It was surprisingly still comfortable.Overall, I love the shoes. I was curious on how far I can step into water with the shoe before it would seep in and you could get pretty much to the laces. This really is a great benefit to me because I will hike/run in any weather and though it’s expected, it’s not nice to have wet shoes/socks.The only thing I might change on the shoe is making the mid foot a little looser. I don’t necessarily have narrow feet, but I do think it could be a little looser. I’m 5’6” and 185lbs and I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone and any runners of any experience.... It also helped diffuse my lower back pain. This model aligns with my love for ACG. I would hope ACG could consider this technology for their other silhouettes.... Show more

In contrast, the Pegasus trail shoes offer a versatile option, delivering solid performance both on and off the beaten path. Said a different way, if you need to run on the street to get to your favorite trail, these are the shoes to get.Technologically, the Pegasus maintains its reputation for value. The Gore-Tex material ensures breathability while repelling water, keeping feet dry even in puddles. The ankle cuff acts as a mini-gaiter, blocking out pebbles without restricting circulation. Reflective elements on the heel and toe enhance visibility during street runs. Finally I found the midsole to be a little more forgiving and bouncy than on a regular pegasus shoe, I’d imagine to compensate for a harder and tougher trail oriented tread. And speaking of tread, a fun design with this shoe is the "Nike Trail" on the sole of the shoe is inverted so when you leave a footprint in dirt, it's legible to those behind you.All in all, solid shoe that I'm looking forward to putting hundreds on miles on.... I have another pair of Nike trail runners so I was interested in trying these out. Have to say, these are the best trail running shoes/boots I've ever had. I hike/do trails roughly 3 times a week and these shoes are perfect for trails/terrain. Super comfy fit and feels very well cushioned. Also, the back of the shoe doesn't cut in to/rub the achilles, which I notice some trail running shoe/boots do, and can be uncomfortable at times. HUGE advantage of the shoe with that small adjustment, albeit a niche design plus. Shoe feels very light which again is a big advantage over trail runners/hiking boots that can be a bit weighty and clunky, love that I felt light on on my feet with them on. Sleek design/aesthetic to the shoe that also makes it look good for daily wear ... MoreI have another pair of Nike trail runners so I was interested in trying these out. Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GTX

My first impressions of the Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GTX was that they were stylish trail running/hiking shoes that would be great in muddy/wet conditions. Unfortunately it is currently summer time where the all black and not very breathable Gortex is not great for the heat. The initial feel of the shoe was they fit true to size and were very padded. I have flat feet and there is a lot of padding in the arch and heel where it made my feet want to turn toward the outward of the sole. I have worn the shoes for roughly 2 weeks everyday now going on runs and walks in them. For walks I would average 3-4 miles in them and then runs would be 2 miles. From wearing them I really enjoyed the amount of cushion the shoe provided whether on pavement, hard or soft trail the shoe protected the bottom of my feet, the shoe taking on all terrains and rocks being absorbed into the sole and sole holding up. Things that I think could be improved are the top of the toe box where the shoe strings are sometimes dug into the top of my foot when running on my toes and the foot support has a lot of arch support where at times I was striking the outside of my foot instead of the entire foot width. Overall the shoe is solid and would be great for hikers, runners or walkers looking for a shoe to hit the trails with.... Show more

no heel lock and shredded after 7 months
1 November 2024
I bought a pair of these in Milan when on vacation. I was hoping to use them for hiking, but found out that my foot could rotate within the shoe slightly, enough to become a poor choice for hiking when your foot has to take on whatever angle the ground offers. But they were comfortable, so I just used them as a daily shoe. After seven months, a hole opened over my big toe, and now that small hole is a 2 inch rip. I called Nike to see if they stand behind their product, but they do not unless you live in the country that you bought the shoe in. It is all Nike, but they do not offer cross border product support. Very disappointing. If you do buy this shoe, and use if for hiking, expect it to last only 6 months or less.... Show more

Runs small/narrow, but lightweight
26 June 2024
This runs narrow and since there's a tightly woven ripstop upper, there's also less give for any excess width you might need. I got a size 10, which is my typical Nike running shoe size, but I would've benefited from at least a half size up as sometimes I do wear 10.5 for shoes that I know to be narrower, especially given that I'd need the space when my foot swells on runs. One other complicating factor for folks with wider feet is that the eyelets are fixed on top of the upper as opposed to integrated (helps for weatherproofing, not for adjusting width beyond what the upper wants to give you). The length is true to size.Things to note: the collar is a 'mock' gaiter style that is good at keeping dirt/debris out, but the fabric does not extend beyond where a ... MoreThis runs narrow and since there's a tightly woven ripstop upper, there's also less give for any excess width you might need. The length is true to size.Things to note: the collar is a 'mock' gaiter style that is good at keeping dirt/debris out, but the fabric does not extend beyond where a typical low-cut collar would go so it doesn't take up additional space in the upper (it's more of an extension than a true lining, which means that the entire shoe isn't waterproof once you get halfway up the tongue - see photo for where the gaiter ends and the stitching of the tongue ends for the gap in weatherproofing); the ripstop is really tough and the front bumper detail is especially nice to reinforce the toebox; the shoe itself is really light for a trail sneaker so longer-term wear (assuming it fits) is quite good; the exaggerated outrigger heel helps with stability for going downhill, but it would've been great to have that extend laterally, too. This ideally suits medium/longer regular pace days in inclement weather and mixed terrain. It's going to keep you dry in rain and it'll stay intact on uneven trails. I'd be comfortable taking it on the road regularly and not thinking twice either given how light the shoe is.... Show more

Stylish and Functional

Fit and Feel: The shoe is a tad narrow. I'd recommend sizing up .5 if you have a wide or flat foot. The construction of the shoe is amazing but this can be expected from the goretex pegasus line.Traction wise, these shoes are solid. I had no issue with my daily commute and some light to moderate hiking. I haven't worn them during the rain as I purchased during the summer but I'm confident they'll have traction during the rainy season.Design: I have the black and grey pair and the logos are very subtle. I love the goretex logo hits on the tongue, it just gives it that tech-ninja feeling. I do miss the heel tab of the previous pegasus lines but this heel tab functions just fine.Fabric: Because these are Goretex the material does not breathe well; these shoes run ... MoreFit and Feel: The shoe is a tad narrow. The Best Outdoor Everyday All in One Shoe!
28 August 2024
I was looking for a new outdoor shoe to do about anything, I'm happy to say I finally found that in the Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex. I love the outdoors and these shoes seem to love and survive them too! They are the perfect shoes for my next adventure! I went with my true size, they are super comfortable and have good spacing in the toe box. After running a few miles, instead of aches in my feet, I felt like I could run a couple more with the added cushion. The high ankle cuff definitely helped keep out any tiny rocks or dirt on the trails/roads. I was a little worried about ankle comfort as I usually where low tops and these can feel like a mid with the cuff. However, I had no issues with the cuff and actually liked the cuff because I felt more secure. First thought when I slipped these on that my feet felt right at home as if they were in slippers. The fit and finish of the shoes is great, they feel as comfortable as they look and handle the trails great!First few runs were on gravel, grass, sand, dirt, asphalt and concrete. They maneuver in all terrains like it was meant for each one.I did a few miles each time and they could handle more - I couldn’t push them far enough!I’d be comfortable in these to daily tasks not just running, but as a running shoe they are top notch.I haven’t got to try out the goretex feature yet, but I’m sure they will handle it with ease.Very satisfied with these....
