Excellent Powerlifting/Weightlifting Shoes

I'll keep this short and sweet. I had the Romaleos 3 XDs - Solid shoes but I felt the back didn't have the support I needed for squatting for myself. Went to Powerlift 4s but the
sole was too squishy for me so I bought these.Rigid TPU gives a strong base - the angular design helps keep you planted. Small toe box so half a size up is ideal if you have
wide feet (I am a size 12.5 in Metcons 5s, 13 in Ultraboosts so I went for 13 in these and they fit good - does take time to break in).Overall - pretty decent. Also happy that City
Strength has the Tokyo 2020 Colourway!

Fitting well for a women's wide foot ...

Bought for my daughter, who has a wide foot and isn't comfortable in women's sizes. She has a high arch, and her foot is wide below the pinky toe. We tried sizing up half a
size, as per alot of reviews, but they were too long. We exchanged ( no problem through Rogue btw) for her normal size ( men's 8), and they fit perfect. She does olympic
lifting and they are perfect, very solid in the squatting position. We greatly recommend for lifting, but I think they would be too heavy, and not flexible enough, for crossfit. Use
them for what they were designed for, squatting, and oly lifts. Now we get to see how they hold up.

I got this Nike Romaleos 4 for doing more powerlifting squats and box squats. This is an excellent investment as this shoe’s hard bottom makes all the difference! I highly
recommend getting it. It is an expensive shoe but just like any other sports, you need the right shoe for the right purpose. This is my first weightlifting shoe and I love it! Highly
recommend it and make sure you get half a size up as you do not want it too loose. Nice and snug is the right fit. Plus the two straps helps the foot from moving forward, nice
and stable.

Great Weightlifting Shoe Except...
1 December 2022
Don't get me wrong: this weightlifting shoe is great, and offers much stability during the heavy lifts. What gets me though, is that while they upgraded a bunch of individual parts of the shoe from its previous iteration, namely the flimsy tongue on the 3 to the more robust one on the 4 and the more durable TPU sole, I feel that they downgraded on the straps. Though they added the metatarsal strap which undoubtedly adds to the wearer's stability, the choice of material is questionable. I loved the seatbelt material on the 3, but the 4 feels a bit fake. Wish they kept that seatbelt. Otherwise this shoe is solid.... Show more

Not great. Not even good. Miss the mark by a mile.
19 March 2023
Even though these are an improvement from the Romaleos 3 which were a steaming pile of waste, Nike really showed they just want to make cheap fashionable shoes and print their profits. I wore these for 3 lifting sessions, a week of training for me, a Masters 81kg weightlifter and the Velcro straps began to fail. After 2 months of training, the foot bed began to split on my rear foot for the jerk. Then the other shoe started doing the same. These are $200 of trash. Read the other reviews from people who don’t Olympic lift or wear these for the intended purpose. Do not buy.... Show more

Poor craftsmanship. Proof of zero quality control.

Brutal should be the 1 they deserve, but then it looks irresponsible and review doesn’t look trusted. I had glue overflow at multiple seems that were runs of overflowing glue. On the left shoe it’s from 1 inch (I measured) in front of the first strap and then it wraps all the way around the back to the other side of not just glue out the seems but then you can seem gaps where it’s not connected, so I can see what they were trying to achieve and it didn’t work. On the right shoe I have 2x 3 inch runs of glue and a few singular spots coming out the seems of the sole meets shoe. Then where it comes up on each shoe it gets on the cloth and then there’s random spots of glue on black cloth turned white. These shoes run small too, so I figured I’d just review comfort so I ... MoreBrutal should be the 1 they deserve, but then it looks irresponsible and review doesn’t look trusted. If you feel off balance when your train too much, then these will help you keep your feet flat and glued to the ground. I like my top notch shoes to also look respectable and to accept these would be insulting.... Show more

Really solid.
11 March 2023
Just tried these out squatting and they are rock solid. I had Adidas Adipower 2's for 5 years but I bought those a little on the small side because I really liked a tight shoe when I squatted heavy....just a psychological thing. But, they started bugging my toes, so took the leap and bought these. I usually take a size 11 but had to go to an 11.5 in these, they do fit quite snug. If they hold up as long as the Adipowers did (which are still in amazing shape), which they look like they will, then it will be a GREAT purchase.... Show more

Solid leg day shoe
11 September 2023
Velcro has been fine. I use them twice a week for legs day only. They strap tight enough to make your feet numb. The insoles are rock hard too. They are so solid and inflexible that they are impractical for anything other than leg exercises. They clip when you walk. They are absolutely not comfortable, but they aren’t supposed to be. They change the way lifts feel bc they alter the lines of the lift. I won’t type out the physics of that, but it is noticeable and puts more focus on anterior chain muscles. The colors (white/pink/orange) are bright and fun.... Show more

Stiff, Stable and Locked In
31 January 2022
Coming from the beginner friendly adidas powerlifts these are on a whole different level. Stiff, stable and locked in with the straps.Initially I was a bit apprehensive about both the increased 20mm heel lift and stiff sole. Thought my toes might smash up against the front of the toebox and they’d feel like walking on bricks compared the powelifts and their softer EVA midfoot, flexible forefoot and 15mm heel lift. Nothing could be further from the truth.Yes they’re quite a bit harder to get into, but once laced and strapped in my feet stayed planted. The straps are positioned to pull and hold the foot and heel back towards the heel cup. No forward movement or heel lift. The toe box actually felt roomier then the powerlifts. It didn’t take long to get used to walking in them.Once under weight is when they shine. They just feel rooted to the platform. It feels that it’s more then just the stiff TPU midsole though. Laterally they very little give. I think the way the midsole just widens out and has a lot to do with it. The sole is actually wider than the shoe.As for sizing, I wear a 10 US & these fit well at a size 10 with a little room in the toebox for that inevitable summer month heat swell.Over all I’d definitely recommend them. Bit pricey compared to the Nike Savaleos but it isn’t like weight shoes wear out quickly. Had my powerlifts for three years and honestly they’re still good other than the little bit heel lift and very slight inner lateral movement under load. You can see it in the pic if you look close enough to the shoes.Hope this helps.... Show more

Why haven’t I used these before
18 September 2022
Simply amazing results. Squats with these shoes and the results were incredible more reps more weight. The balance and sturdy platform elevated my performance to unheard of levels. I was planning on doing a light squat session to try out the shoes. Was using Nike cross trainers for years. Well I went 95 pounds more for 2 more reps than I expected. From225 to 315 was a breeze. It’s definitely without a doubt the shoes.Been squatting for years. Have never experienced such a tremendous difference. I guess the angle of my ankles with the solid base and exceptional balance is exactly why these shoes were made. And no raising your heels is not the same I’ve done that many times. All I can say is highly recommended!... Show more
