When I first opened the box, I was intrigued by the very basic but fashion forward design of the Space Hippie 04. These are promoted as ecologically designed, and made from recycled material which is a selling point for many people.The soles and side are clearly from recycled items, as it is a bed of different colored flecks of mystery plastics. The soles are very thick which give a sense of walking on platforms, while the uppers are easily fastened via the interweaving cord/lace.My dislike of these shoes is purely on aesthetics, it's just not my style. Very fashionable, trendy and I question it's functionality. Others may find the design complementary to their style, but I prefer a more tone downed look.

These Nike Space Hippie 04 Shoes are great! The fit is perfect. Not sure if sizing is just right, or if the shoes’ upper essentially being a sock, I have zero discomfort wearing them all day long. They’re not too loose so you can workout/run in the them, but not so tight your feet start hurting shortly after putting them on. Speaking of the upper, it’s amazing. I’ve always been curious of this style of shoe with essentially a built in sock and they do not disappoint. Like wrapping your foot in a super soft, yet secure blanket. The rubber sole is made of 75% recycled plastics and I find that amazing. Their flexible and firm at the same time. Also, I find the look very cool. My husband was over the moon to receive these shoes. He has weirdly shaped feet - narrow through the heel and arch, but wide through the toes - and, as a result, he goes through shoes pretty quickly because they tend to wear out in the toe box or become so uncomfortable through the toes that we have to return them almost immediately.Right out of the box, husband was nervous because the shoe was 1/2 a size smaller than he normally wears, but he put them on and was amazed that they "fit perfectly". The Nike Space Hippie shoes are so lightweight and comfortable, it's like you are walking on clouds or wearing the most comfortable slippers. I do a lot of walking and my feet have never been more comfortable in a shoe.The fit is just right, they fit true to size. The materials used are premium quality and the look is just awesome. I've received many compliments on these shoes, people asking where they are from since they are so unique looking.If I had one complaint about the shoes it would be that sometimes it's a bit hard to get them on, but the material in back is stretchy and has a pull loop so it's no biggie to me.Overall these are a major must-have! If you are looking for comfort, style, and wear ability you can not go wrong with these shoes.

The blue color also has a lot of rainbow throughout the shoe, i dont mind in the end but it was much more pronounced in person than in the pictures, you might not notice while being worn, idk. The fit is spot on although i think i fall in between sizes where a 12 is tight and a 13 is way too big. They are comfortable at first, the knit top feels like a sock and is soft and form fitting. The sole is fun, and is very thick in such a way that I think they will be durable. The toe and heel are reinforced with a denser composite, so high wear areas are well-considered. It's not the softest cushion, but if you are looking for a firm sole these work out nicely. Also, the outsole flares out on the lateral side by the toe, which really adds to the stability of the shoe but does not hurt the shoe aesthetically. The sole also comes up to cup the foot, particularly in the heel. That means that even though the upper is knit, you still can feel reasonably supported with the heel holding you in place. This is a shoe that I think you will like the more you wear it, as you break the outsole in. I think the sole might benefit from managing density by blowing different amounts of air bubbles into the sole in different places so as to have different densities where it's needed. That might be one way to improve the comfort that some of the other reviewers are concerned about, because the sole is clunky. Just something to play with. I expected the shoe to be more comfortable than it was, but I didn't find the shoe to be uncomfortable. It's not a shoe designed for rigorous activity, but it's good for standing up to the rigors of most parts of everyday life. All in all, you can tell that a lot of thought and consideration went into this shoe, and I like it a lot. This is a shoe that won't be for everyone, but if it's for you, then it's REALLY for you. I hope Nike keeps doing things like this--sustainably manufactured shoes, across price points, and with high quality. Four stars, but with improvements in underfoot comfort these become five out of five.
