Nike Waffle Trainer 2 (White / Black)

(125 reviews)

The Nike Waffle Trainer 2 White Black is a modern iteration of the classic Nike Waffle Trainer, which traces its debut back to the early 70s when it was released as a new age running shoe. The shoes have a predominantly white upper with grey overlays and black accents. The white part is made from leather while the grey overlays are made from suede materials. They also have a traditional lacing system with white laces. The midsole is fully white and incorporates cushioning technologies to keep your feet comfortable, while the outsole is black with a waffle pattern. One thing our experts love about the Nike Waffle Trainer 2 White Black is the waffle pattern on the outsole. On top of adding a distinctive visual appeal to the shoes, they also provide optimal grip and enhanced traction during running. The shoes were first released for retail in October 2021 for $100.

These shoes fit amazing, very comfortable for all day wear and roomy without being too big. I love the design of the shoes, it’s retro modern and a classic style that goes with everything without ever going out of style. These have become my go-to shoes, they’re so comfortable I want to wear them all the time. Nothing I can see changing about these shoes, other than maybe the tongue, I don’t like the exposed foam on the sides. Maybe it’s deliberate style move, but I think it cheapens the look of the shoes when otherwise they’re good looking and comfy. Otherwise, the thing I like most about these shoes is the undeniable comfort level.

This shoe is lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day when working in a retail environment on cement floors. That being said, I did start to feel like I was getting pressure spots after a short while, so I rotated which shoes I was wearing out after my shifts and only could wear these every few days or so in order to not irritate the balls of my feet. I wish that there was more cushion in the soles of the shoe.I like the amount of traction provided by the waffle style sole. Even in my hectic work environment, I never worried about losing my footing . Thought this was a great pair of kicks. Was looking for something to wear at work that is lowkey and doesn't stand out too much as athletic or screams out "sneakerhead" (despite me being a sneakerhead!). This was it. I've gotten compliments with this style in particular and the colorway is very subtle that it goes well with anything. The shoe itself fits alright but it is pretty long in that regards. Not too narrow and it isn't too much of a problem to me. Though there is a thumbs length of space between the tip of the shoe and my toe. If you want a more fitted fit with no wiggle room I'd recommend going a half-size down.

Comfy shoes!
7 November 2021

When I got these shoes, I was a little skeptical, as I have wide feet and these shoes did not look like they would be comfortable. I also wasn't sure about the tongue of the shoe. Welllllllll, my wide feet be damned, these shoes fit great! They were comfortable and did not squish my feet like I thought they would, and the tongue of the shoe isn't uncomfortable (though I do think the foam look is a little strange). I was trying not to mess them up or get them dirty, but there was some surprise rain and puddles I couldn't avoid, and they were fine- they didn't get gross or more wet than any other regular shoe. I also have 2 small children and I am stepped on fairly often, and the shoes held up even with them running over me- no damage, rips, not even dirt stains. I usually wear low socks, and the only thing I would recommend with these is to wear socks just a teensy bit higher, as the back rubbed on the back of my ankle if my socks were too short (but it wasn't bad). I wasn't sure about these at first but I really do love them!

Interesting but Odd

I love wearing these to work they do not hurt my feet. These sneakers have support and are comfortable with a classic silhouette that just seems unfinished. The sole is comfortable and the upper build is light and breathable, but the tongue seems unfinished. For as much as the shoe looks uniform and finished, the tongue looks like an afterthought. It honestly looks like a kitchen sponge attached to the shoe. They are almost perfect, but the tongue just sorely sticks out. The sneakers are super comfortable as an everyday shoe or as a lifestyle shoe with a glaring weird tongue. I guess avoid wearing shorts.

Modern Construction With A Throwback Style
6 November 2021

These are the versatile shoes that I have been waiting for—they look just as good when worn with a pair of jeans on casual Friday as they do in the gym for a workout. One knock against this shoe is the decision to leave the foam in the tongue exposed. I understand it was an intentional decision but it makes the show look a little tattered and less polished in my opinion. This is easily covered when worn with a pair of pants, but it stands out when worn to the gym with shorts. The fit is spot on for a Nike shoe, which in my opinion means about a half size too small. I went a half size up from my normal non-Nike shoe size and these fit like a glove. Though they don’t look as plush as some of Nike’s running shoes, I found no issues spending 10+ hours in these for a day in the office. It’s worth noting though that these shoes did not breathe well and my feet do end up getting a little sweatier when wearing these. Nothing that would keep these out of my lineup, but noteworthy if this was going to be a daily show for me. It’s also worth noting that the tread on these shoes is fine for regular use but I did find that they had somewhat limited traction when walking on wet tile. Other shoes provide a more sure-footed grip on similar conditions so just be aware and choose accordingly.

Shocking!
8 November 2021

This was my first time wearing some Nike waffles and I was a little hesitant with breaking them in while on a international road trip but the smarts thing for me was to wear them! I was beyond shock that there was no foot pain or anything breaking in some new shoes while traveling. A huge plus was the durability and the lightness of the shoes. Went over 45,000 steps for 6 days consecutively and they still look new. For these being the first time ever wearing them it definitely will not be my last pair! And I will def recommend them to my fellow traveling peers. Especially when out and about you want something that had a good fit and feel which this gave.
