50 Mile Review: Soft and Bouncy

Soft and bouncy are two words that best summarize my experience in the Invincible run. I find this shoe to be perfect for my easier runs, averaging anywhere between
8min/mile and 9min/mile. I do not feel this shoe is a good option for faster running (intervals, for example) given the softness and large midsole volume. I find myself
consistently running about 15 seconds/mile faster than my effort suggests. Legs and joints feel well protected the entire time. I am a big fan of the Infinity Run (another great
daily trainer), and feel the grip on the Invincible is noticeably better on slick surfaces. In my experience, this shoe definitely rewards a mid-foot striker and good r... Show more

There is a noticeable “sweet spot” where the shoe seems to be providing the most rebound. Outside for this zone, the softness is still there, but the rebound seems significantly reduced.Overall, this is a unique shoe in the best possible way. I would not want it as my only shoe, but when combined with other shoes like the Pegasus and Vaporfly, I think it makes a really nice addition to a running shoe inventory.... Show more

For reference, I've had these for two weeks, done some short runs, and general everyday use.Walking in these all day is no problem and actually encouraged me to get some extra exercise at the end of a work day when running really didn't feel like the best option. As for running, I don't think I had quite the same revolutionary feel others did. A big selling point of the shoe is the ZoomX foam and the crazy amount of stack making it so comfortable. Running in a heel-strike form is where this shoe shines. Your initial impact is basically absorbed and as you rock forward there is a light spring in your step. I wouldn't call it 'bouncy" like others have, but I am fairly light so compressing the foam is harder for me. However, if you are a fore/midfoot striker (like me) much of that benefit from the extra stack height is negated. An additional side effect of the stack is some instability and some feeling of being too tall. The first few runs/walks it does feel almost like you are on stilts and need to relearn to walk/run which can be a bit awkward. Even after getting used to it, you notice you can't quite turn as fast or bank in these shoes without some side slippage. As a result of this instability, Nike has to have an overbuilt upper that doesn't breath quite as well as some of their other shoes and a massive base which you stand on.This is seen clearly is how much the midsole extends back as can be seen in the product photos. If you are wearing these as an everyday shoe for pain or purely for comfort that extension feels amazing, but it does make it difficult to drive in. If you pivot with your foot between pedals, this surface has zero outsole as the midsole bubbles out and causes excessive wear on your driving shoe. Of course Nike doesn't expect these to be used as a lifestyle shoe, so it's not their fault, but if you are the type of person who enjoys the comfort provided by running shoes for everyday use, be aware that how much you drive might affect the lifespan of the shoes. For me, I will probably be returning them for that reason. I don't run enough to justify such a high cost on the shoe, and wearing down the driving shoe as a lifestyle pair doesn't sit right with me. However, if you are a heel-strike runner putting in long miles, like others have said this is probably an endgame option for you.... Show more

Also the laces are too short, which makes me not being able to tie them fully. Luckily my size 9 fits just right and holds me in place with a little toe room in the front while still maintaining me stable on the heel.Overall, this is an amazing shoe. I would highly recommend it for anyone that would want to progress into NIke's high tier running shoes if you're coming from the middle tier.... Show more

Comfortable although durability is lacking
17 December 2021
First of all I only use my running shoes for running. Senior Male, 5'10" 155lbs. Average 25 miles a week. I have been running exclusively on the React Infinity Run Flyknit for my last 4 pair and generally get about 300 mi before the outsole is just foam showing. With the ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit, I got about 180 miles to reach the same results. I also had shredded the exterior padding on the inner heel collar which I assume is due to a wider outsole that must be hitting it. This extra material doesn't exist on the Infinity Run shoe and I'm don't see any added support for it to exist.I use this shoe for my my longer runs and have purchased a second pair to give them another try as I am training for a marathon and am starting my Long runs. All in all, they are ... MoreFirst of all I only use my running shoes for running. Great Shoe, Hard to Clean, Durability is Solid
13 August 2022
I think people are bashing the durability too much, maybe Nike produced some bad runs? Not sure but mine have held up to the test of time. I've been wearing mine almost daily since they came out and the midsoles are a little torn up sure just because the foam is a bit delicate, but they're almost as bouncy as the day I got them and much more comfortable after being broken in. They don't look that great anymore since the flyknit on these is almost impossible to clean so I've basically given up ever since I got a shoe full of mud one time. I'll probably try throwing them in the wash or something, I tried the new ones on but they're too warm for me, I prefer the older more breathable version that I already have even though it's beat up. Incredibly smooth ride
4 January 2022
I have gone from moderate running (1-2 runs/week) to becoming a more avid runner (3-5 times per week) during the pandemic. Went from running in Odyssey React (which I really liked) to Pegasus 37 (also liked, but not quite as much). After 260 miles and a half marathon in the P37s, I was in the market for some new shoes and new I wanted to go back to a thicker React cushioning model. Decided to try these and, 80 miles in, couldn't be happier. These shoes are like running on pillows. The React foam gives solid energy return on every step. Actually running faster times with less effort. I was concerned that the shoes would be bulky and slow me down a bit, but they don't feel bulky at all and I've actually run PRs at both 5k and 10k in them. Next Generation Cushioning -- The Best -- General Use and Running
11 December 2021
These running shoes have perfect cushioning, close to walking on clouds. Reduces stress on legs and entire lower body to avoid short and long term injury. I used Nike Air 360's for general use and running for years, then Hoka Bondi 6 (Ok) and Bondi 7(not Ok). The new Nike FoamX Invincibles have the cushioning those running shoes were striving for. Selected greater cushioning over trying new Bondi X and lighter. Getting back into shape and losing weight, 6' man to get below 200lbs, requires more cushioning to avoid injury and longer runs more often, not doing recovery runs or competitive racing or irregular courses. Black with subtle gold trim isn't too loud for general use. Thank you Nike, it was worth the wait for a truly great highly cushioned running ... MoreThese running shoes have perfect cushioning, close to walking on clouds. Shoes to protect your body from running
5 December 2021
A few years back I suffered some running injuries. I think I have a wonky gait that puts some extra stress on my feet and legs. I switched to Hoka's for their legendary protection. That allowed me to keep running and avoid injuries. When I first heard about the Nike ZoomX Incincible, I wanted to try it. From my first run, it felt great. The Zoom cushioning makes running very comfortable. After a few months, then a few more months, I realized I wasn't experiencing the pain and injuries I had in the past. These protect me as well as the Hoka's and have a plush and comfortable ride. I just bought my second pair and I love and recommend these shoes for anyone who wants a comfortable ride or has struggled with foot pain or running injuries.... Show more

The most cushioned running shoe you can buy
20 May 2022
I was looking for the most cushioned shoe you can get. This is it. You can feel the squish right away. That comes with stability tradeoffs but if you don't want a high stack shoe with squish, you have plenty of other choices. So kuddos to Nike for taking cushion to the max.Given that this is the most max cushioned shoe available, my only gripe is it doesn't take it far enough. Why not just go extreme in setting the bar? When you run in these, as opposed to walking, I wouldn't say you feel like running on clouds or marshmallows--you still have a jolt of a foot strike and "bounce" (which I find overrated as I don't see the point of bounce when I initially strike as opposed to energy release as I push off my foot to spring me forward). So I guess I'm just complaining that they are a functional running shoe that offers "responsiveness". They are as close as you can find to "moon shoes" but not really there.I'd ask Nike to just take it further. It will be too much for many, but why not offer something just off the charts in terms of softness tailored for heel strike walking. Like if I wanted to reduce the impact on my knees and hips and even neck and head from walking or running -- akin to running on a springy treadmill or rubberized track -- give me an option to prevent that wear and tear. This is the best on the market but still I think the technology is there to make it even softer, squishier, more "deflation" at the strike. Like a spring that collapses on strike and releases when you push off I suppose.Bottom line: these are great cushion but not insane.(these fit like all Nike running shoes--run 1 size larger than Brannock)... Unique Cushioned Training Shoe

Over the past several years, I have been running in Asics Nimbus 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. I then switched to Brooks Ghost 11, 12, 13 (waiting for delivery of Ghost 14's). I decided to try the Nike Invincible after reading MANY reviews. (I had tried Hoka Mach, but that shoe irritated the outside of my ankle.) The Invincible's "squishy" sole was touted by most reviewers. Others purchased the shoe as an "easy day" injury prevention shoe.
