Having used Swift Audubon 8.5 x 44 for 30 odd years we thought it bast to replace them. These are everything you would expect from Nikon, quality is superb. Light, bright and waterproof so they are much better for our mountain wanderings. In comparison to the Swifts, marginally narrower field of view but them Swift were the only company to manufacture the 8.5 x 44 and the Nikons are just as good but with a load of advantages. A really nice pair of binoculars for bird watching and general use.

I was looking for this particular certification of binoculars and happened across the sale. I was expecting to pay more and was happy to see that such an amazing set was so affordable.

I live in the Adirondack's and spend most of my time in the woods hunting and fishing. I put my gear through hell. I've had these binoculars for a couple of years now and they have held up well. I recommend these if you want a pair that can take hard use. The optics are the best in its class and price range.

I use binoculars for monitoring archery arrow shots on the target. 8X is about the maximum magnification for hand held use. 42mm objective lenses gather enough light to make these binoculars useful in dimming light. The binoculars are sturdily made, easy to focus and come with a neck strap and a padded case. The binoculars are a bit on the heavy side for a long day in the field. More expensive binoculars may have a marginally brighter and sharper image but these Nikons are a good value.
I am a novice birder and these binoculars were recommended by several online sites. I like them except for the flimsy plastic covers for the lenses and eye pieces. Good instructions on line are available for actually focusing the binoculars. The accompanying instruction manual was not very helpful.
Bought these for bird watching. Great clarity, even in not ideal lighting. I especially appreciate how great they work while wearing my glasses. The strap seems a bit cheap and is uncomfortable but I still give them 5 stars because I love how well they work.
Good starter binoculars for birding, finally took them out for a first try and they're excellent. The only issue is that the 2 lens caps are not attached to each other or to the binoculars. You just have to take them off individually and attach it to your neck strap. A bit inconvenience, especially if you lose them.
I have purchased many pairs of binoculars over the years and in the price range under $500 THERE IS NOTHING BETTER! (These are the very best Nikon model.) To get equal quality clarity as the 7s Nikon, I have to use my Zeiss, Swarovski, or top of the line Vortex binos... all of which cost much more than these! If your budget can't afford the $1000+ glasses, then this is the next best option!
These will be used for birdwatching and carry on the Nikon tradition of excellent optics. They are in addition to my travel binos and a pair of 10x50 pair for low light.
Improvement Points: Zoom capacity could be better and the protection for the eye pieces is not easy to fix on and falls off. Otherwise they are easy to handle, eye pieces are fog free and have a good focus and field of view. Happy with purchase for an amateur.
