I had some initial hesitation about this lens as well as the 16-50mm due to the plastic lens mount. Now that I've used them both for a while I don't even think about it. Both are very sharp and the light weight is appreciated when carrying around. The VR is excellent and focusing is fast and quiet. The largely plastic construction keeps both the weight and cost down and is plenty sturdy. Really the only downside to the lens is that it is relatively slow in terms of f-stop. I must have received one of the early shipments of this new 19-140mm Nikon Z lens. I took it out to the San Antonio Botanical Garden to get some pictures with my Nikon Z50 on a very nice late fall day.It was great to have such a good zoom range to play with, though 80% of my pictures are usually taken at closer ranges, and I really prefer shooting with prime lenses.But here are a few shots I captured with this lens, so feel free to judge for yourself. These were shot in Nikon RAW (NEF), and then exported as JPEGs with Capture One. Minimal adjustments were made, mostly cropping. Obviously I am not a pro, just an enthusiast. I take photos for my own enjoyment and to share with friends in travel videos.

Have not used it much yet but seems solid and fast and silent auto focus and VR work well. IT has a plastic mount but seems rugged and the shorter lens balances well. Adorama has a competitive price and added some extras(filters, cleaning kit). Shipped quickly and arrived in a couple of days.

Lens was just as advertised and included hood and filter. Range covers most photos taken traveling and lightens load to carry. Lightweight, familiar (to Nikon owner) controls makes it good choice. Will see how it holds up with travel.
I'm very pleased I just got this lens for my Z 50. I first used this lens in the field this past weekend at the New York Botanical Garden. The lens did not disappoint. The wide range was very useful. Focusing was quick and precise. And the close up feature was surprisingly very good. Resulting photos are sharp and beautiful.However, I wish Nikon included this lens as the Z 50's kit lens when I bought my camera inOctober 2020. It's more useful that the 14-50 mm lens (however, I do like the small pancake feature of that lens and will keep it for special occasions).Also, I wish Nikon included a lens hood. It's annoying I need to buy the hood separately.Stuart
I purchased the DX 18-140 from B&H several months ago and I'm still very happy with the quality and performance of the lens; it's a great investment. On a cruise last month, I used the Z50 exclusively with this lens. The accuracy and sharpness of the photos I took on the ship are excellent. For example, attached is photo of the Statue of Liberty I took under low light and a moving ship.
After purchasing a Z50 with a 16-50 mm kit lens, I wanted to get a lens that could cover a broader range for travel, but still keep the overall kit lightweight. This is it. I used it on a recent trip with my newly acquired Z50, and had very nice results. Images are crisp, and the lens handles beautifully on the Z50. The combination of the body and lens is still less than 2 lbs, and it can be easily thrown into a small pack for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. It's also very well built, just like the camera. The Z-mount on this particular lens is plastic, which I think is the way all of the DX Z-mount lenses are made, but it's a solid, reliable mount and is weather-sealed.
Our Z50 is my wife's favorite camera. And she does not like to change lenses, so I was forced to do it for her. This Nikkor solves my little issue. Astonishingly its performance is a pleasant surprise to me. Like all Z-lenses, it is very sharp, quiet and fast focusing. I think that it is difficult to find another so sharp lens in this price class. Personally I would prefer zoom range 16-100 for example, a bit wider, but for most cases the 18mm on the wide end works fine. Highly recommended.
I bought the Z50 with the normal kit lens, the 16-50mm, which is - OK. This lens is a big improvement and, to my mind, is the ideal lens to keep on the Z50 pretty much all the time. For as light and compact as it is, the focal range is very versatile and the image quality is surprisingly good. It'd be nice if it had an image stabilizer switch, but aside from that it seems like the ideal companion to any APS-C Nikon camera.
I'm extremely happy with my new Nikon DX 18-140. This camera makes great scenery photos along with beautiful portraits. I've been able to make superb shots with my Z-50. This rounds out my DX kit as the final DX Z lens of 3. I'm happy with my B and H purchase. As usual, B and H Photo made the purchase and delivery, seem less!
