At last a camera that looks like a "real" Nikon. This is my first venture into mirrorless equipment and I thought I would give it a try. One reason I purchased the camera was that my usual kit was very heavy for lugging around, full frame cameras and long lenses is not easy at my advanced age. I now have to use a trolly to move it about. The Zfc is light and easy to use once you get used to the layout. I was a bit worried about using half frame kit but the results are great and the tele. lens performs well. I'm not a fan of the image in the view finder but this is a product of digital age, no mirror! I am very pleased with the camera as a whole and am enjoying my first venture into mirror less cameras.

I bought this almost a year ago as a small handy camera compared to my standard professional DSLRs. I can safely say it easily competes with them. With a plethora of easy to use features, incredible picture and video quality, and the more advanced adjustables. This has very rapidly become my go to grab and go camera.

Love my new Nikon Zfc especially with the quality of the photos I get out of it. Would love to try a different lens with more focus to see how it will work out with this camera. The vintage style of the camera is what really appealed to me, especially to have that nostalgic feel everytime I handle it. The flip screen is absolutely great for this cam especially for selfies or vlogging with friends. Definitely enjoyed shooting with it on my recent trip abroad as well. Overall, love this cam especially I am still a newbie in photography as its a perfect camera to enhance my skills as a new starter.

Bought this as a travel camera to replace a Canon G1X with which I struggled to operate successfully. As I normally handle Nikon Z full frame cameras I found this much easier to use and carry around.Picture quality is excellent. I have added a well engineered SmallRig Z fc handgrip which also has an Arca plate fitting for landscape mode tripod shots. The camera with kit lenses is a snug fit in a MegaGear leather case which has a robust spring clip fastening. For portraits I use the faster 50mm Z 1.8 lens (76mm equiv) (VR would have been the icing on the cake with this lens/camera combination).I would have liked a back button focussing option to be consistent with other cameras but have allocated this to front button which works well.
I've now used this camera in anger. Here's what I think vs my old D5300 DSLR:Some Pre-purchase Concerns:- EVF is actually very good- Battery Life is fine- Reduction in resolution from 24 to 21ish Mpixels is unnoticeableWhere it's better:- Smaller and lighter- Better video autofocus- Subject Tracking better and easier to use than D5300- In camera powering and charging is really useful- 4k video vs HD of D5300- Using viewfinder to tweak menu settings - great for glasses wearersWhere it's mostly the same:- Same great Nikon picture quality. Never takes a bad photo.- Connectivity - Still no headphone socket; why not use Bluetooth?Niggles- Hard plastic leatherette finish makes it feel cheap- Handling: controls are cramped and fingers stray onto the ... Never takes a bad photo.- Connectivity - Still no headphone socket; why not use Bluetooth?Niggles- Hard plastic leatherette finish makes it feel cheap- Handling: controls are cramped and fingers stray onto the function button with annoying outcomes. Disabling the button is only a partial fix.- Placement of Play and Delete buttons is awkward especially with screen folded out- Given that the mirror has gone, the shutter is quite loud- Current lack of lens choice- Flash exposure compensation now more difficult but, hey, there's no built in flash.- Physical controls for ISO and Shutter Speed are great but limit separation of Still and Video settingsI didn't choose the Zfc for its retro looks, I chose it because its the only Z mount camera with an EVF and a fully articulated screen. If the Z50 had an articulated screen then I would have bought that as it removes several of my niggles. My old D5300 was a marginally better stills camera: the image quality is indistinguishable from that of the Zfc. It has an optical viewfinder, which I still prefer, better handling and superior battery life. However, once you consider video, the Zfc leaves the D5300 behind. Its video autofocus works reliably (the D5300 is hopeless in this regard) and it supports 4k.Despite the handful of minor niggles, the Zfc is an enjoyable camera to use and I don't regret replacing my D5300.
I'm relatively new to photography/videography. Having the control dials on top has really helped a lot with learning photography in general. Rather than hunting through menus or using presets/auto, It's forced me to think about the outcome of my settings. In the audio world I favor control surfaces for mixing and this is that same vibe. I'm pleased with this camera and I appreciate BH for helping me make a better buying decision.
This the Nikon Z fc is my first venture into the Z series. I was amazed at the sharpness of my images and how excellent it did in low light conditions, going to take it to a car show in another state tomorrow. I love how the colors are dead on. Havnt used video yet looking forward to that. This is so retro looking people ask me where do I still get film developed: At B&H they throw in a very well made camera bag. Can't beat it for free.
I originally owned the Nikon DF from years and still use it to date. When Nikon came out with this mirrorless version(although cropped sensor) I had to get it. I also purchased the 50-250mm zoom and the 24mm f1.7 to cover a broader range. Its smaller form factor makes it easier to carry, with all lenses, in the Think Tank 7M cases that came in the bundle. This is definitely a light weight, carry all day set up. Image quality great, typical for a nikon sensor. I also like the high ISO performance.
I've had a lot of high-end Canon film cameras in days gone by. I was never much for digital even after trying out a Canon SX10 more than a decade ago. Been using phone cameras ever since. After searching through the new digital cameras from Canon, nothing really stood out. I switched to a Nikon search and this beauty came up.I love it. Old school meets new school. It has everything on it an analog camera has except the film winder arm and exposure counter. If I want to delve into the menus, that's there too. Most shooting is done with the analog controls and it is very intuitive to use for someone that loves film cameras. If you miss the old days, don't miss this camera. The included bag is above and beyond anything I expected as a freebie.
