I do HDR real estate photography and I was trying to find the cheapest camera that would do everything I needed since I supply my team with their equipment. This camera works fine for photos and the lack of top lcd display doesn't matter. Two things that really make me not like this camera, though, are 1) 1/2 second delay between brackets on the self timer that is not on the Z6 or Z7 and 2) even after setting customer user profiles the camera defaults to continuous shooting instead of the timer every time it power saves or turns off, which doesn't happen on the Z6 or my D750. It is very inconvenient to have to change that every time. The last thing is I didn't realize there is a 1.7x crop on 4K video, but if you use a 10mm crop lens its not a big deal.

The refurbished Nikon Z5 is an amazing value. A fantastic full frame mirrorless digital camera, at a much lower price point than the Z6, but has many of the same features. It is an excellent stills camera. The z6 makes better sense for those interested in video or higher FPS for action photography. I'm thrilled with this camera and the image IQ. I also own Nikon D750. Really pleased with the Z5.

It is plenty fast enough for any non-sports photographer, and actually not bad for that purpose either - if you know what you?re doing. As reviews all over the web agree, the 24-70mm f4 is a truly outstanding lens in all respects. I haven?t shot anything with it that displays a shred of blurriness anywhere. Great combination!

A great camera for portrait work and all around general photography. I like that it has two SD slots instead of the one SD, one CF of its pricier siblings. However, I seem to acquire focus faster on wildlife with my D500 than with the Z5 but I?m still tuning the settings. Love that it has internal IBIS especially when using it with vintage non VR lenses. A great overall value.

Then Nikon announced the Z5 and I was excited, I kept going back and forth between the Z50 and the Z5 though as most of my lenses were crop-sensor. After reading several articles about the FTZ and non-Nikon lenses, I was afraid that none of my lenses would work on the FTZ except my 50mm would work. So I finally decided to get a full-frame instead of the Z50, figuring that I will sell any of my old equipment that does not work. This was the first step in my decision and now needed to decide which full-frame camera. In addition to full-frame, I also wanted in-body stabilization. Since I had decided to sell my old equipment, I even considered changing brands. I looked at the Sony and Cannon but I have been extremely pleased with the Nikon and decided to stay with them and get the FTZ adapter with whichever Z series I chose.So the decision came down to money, do I get the Z5, Z6, or Z7. I decided that I did not need the 45mp sensor and the price tag of the Z7. The Z6 price had come down since the release of the Z6II and Z7II. So I looked at the major differences between these 2 cameras. I decided that there were several differences to consider, they were: 1.7 Crop factor for 4k video, BSI sensor, 4.5 fps vs 12 fps, and SD vs XQD. In my case I do extremely limited video and almost no sports and limited wildlife shooting (mostly portraits, some landscapes, and travel). I have been able to get great bird shots on my D3100 (3 fps). With the Z5, I found a refurbished model with warranty and a 24-50mm kit lens for $1200 add to that the FTZ adapter and I was almost at $1500. The Z6 was $1500 for the body alone, add to that the 24-50mm f4-6.3 @ $400, and the FTZ adapter @ $250, this brought the price of the Z6 to $2150. So with a difference of $650, I decided to get the Z5 and avoid XQD cards too.Since the camera arrived I have been ecstatic it has exceeded my expectations. With my DSLR cameras I found myself almost always shooting in Aperture mode, since it has arrived I have been using the Z5 in manual mode almost exclusively. This is due to the fact that when you look through the viewfinder you know immediately that the shot is either under or over exposed and quick corrections fix that. I don?t have to remember to check my meter. On that point the information displayed in the viewfinder is much easier to read than on any of the DSLR cameras that I have used. I also love the fact that I can program the ring on the Z lens to be focus, aperture, iso, or nothing. I do not regret going full-frame mirrorless at all. The kit lens is good for most shots especially my travel shots. The lens is small and it does not bother me to rotate the zoom ring before using. It is not my first choice as the 24-50mm reach is smaller than I like. I would rather have had the 24-70mm or the 24-200mm for better reach but I like the retracted size and I tend to leave this on when I am traveling as it is easier to pack.I even spent an afternoon shooting some simple test videos, and I love how easy it was to get great looking video. I shot in both 4k and 1080 and it was easy to adjust for the crop factor by changing my distance slightly. I may even spend more time with video now. My only disappointment with the video is in the built-in microphone, it is ok for short distance and no background noise. However, I plugged in an external microphone and this resolved all issues. All in all as you can tell by this review, I have been happy with my purchase, and definitely satisfied with the money spent. This leaves more money for Glass.On a side note all of my non-Nikon lenses have worked on the FTZ adapter in single-focus, I have not yet tried them all in continuous-focus as I stated above most of my shooting is portraits. In the future i will replace these with Native Z glass but for now I am happy.
I am not a pro, however, I had a few Nikon cameras in the past and I wanted to get into full-frame coming from an Entry-level D3xxx and then D7100, I wanted to up my game. I tested 2 other brands FX which were quite impressive. Since I am familiar with the Nikon system, menus, etc, this was an easy switch, but the image quality is definitely the best part. Out-of-camera images are much better than the others I have tested.It was an easy win for me and I am glad I stuck with Nikon. Anyone coming from a DX(crop sensor) and want to upgrade, without a big budget, this camera rival the big boys.
I ordered a refurbished Nikon Z5 with 24-55 kit lens. I am a big proponent of buying refurbished or used photographic equipment, provided it is sold by a retailer with a strong reputation like B&H. It is a great way to save money on quality equipment. I have been a user of Nikon products for many years and still own 2 film SLR and 4 DSLR as well as several F mount lenses. The Nikon Z5 has fully met my expectations for a mirrorless camera and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in taking high quality pictures.

The ISO noise is strongly reduced (you can't see noise at 1600 ISO). The dynamic range is deep. The image definition is better, and this lens is sharper too. I have not used much video yet. But the Z5 is an awesome image machine.Still, for many images, the improvements are not earth shattering, certainly less than the progress that was made in phone photography during these years. In fact for many amateurs who just want a good camera for family events and travels, the real alternative may be simply a recent phone. Wrist strap and filters will likely not be used. The value of the bundle is the lens and body. A higher quality tripod would be nice. The one included is kind of flimsy and will not lock in place for a vertical picture with this body and lens combination.The body and lens are exactly as described and i am extremely happy with them.
I was happy Adorama was participating in the recent Nikon Z series promo that bundles the camera body with the nice and well reviewed 25-200mm kit lens. I really like the lens now that I have used it a bit. The one issue I had with the order was that I could not get the rear lens cap off and had to send it to Nikon for service to get it off per the warranty. I had to go through 2 people at Adorama to deal with the issue. I really like the Z5 so far and will use several of the accessories that came with the bundle. The full frame mirrorless is a huge step up from my crop senser Canon 70D.
