Overall, I like it. I see the utility of having a single machine that can make 4 things at once and doesn’t need babysitting (unlike pans/pots on stove top). The good: it can make 4 different things at once or huge batches of the same thing at once, it’s self-contained and does not need monitoring, the food comes out crispy (for things you want crisp) and full of flavor (details below), it is a quick setup and relatively quick clean up, the trays allow for very nice air circulation. The bad: it’s massive (we don’t have a ton of counter space, it takes up so much of it), it’s kind of loud (but no louder than my old oven), it won’t work without electricity (our stove is gas, so during a power outage we still can cook), did I mention it’s huge?, the instructions are a ... MoreOverall, I like it. I just need more practice and have a setting down spot for when I do this.In general: I’m not sure I can use it because of how much counter space it takes up.That said, I made a steak and asparagus and chicken thighs and broccoli and Brussels sprouts all at once. I now have 3-5 meals ready, and it took an hour to cook all of it and I didn’t have to wash many different pans and pots and turn on the stove and the oven on a hot day.If I used it often, I wonder how it might impact my electric bill.

So when I received the air fryer, I was anxious to look at what I normally look at first which is the recipes. And all the recipes were pretty simple and straightforward, so I figured I would Cook one of the things I love to cook the most, which is a skinless chicken breast. I usually make these in one of my other ninja products all the time, and I wanted to see how much simpler it could be with this air fryer. The first thing I did was open up the booklet with the recipes in there, and seen that to fully cooked the chicken breast you would need to temperature at 390°. So I popped it into one of the baskets set the settings to broil, the time to 30 minutes the recipe says and push start. So when the air fryer beeped, I opened it up and pulled out the chicken to find it was overcooked and somewhat dry. So I thought that I originally had it set too high and thought that I didn't do 30 minutes and thought I made a mistake. So I plopped in another piece of chicken and did 30 minutes again with the same result. So at this point, I was going to rush and do the review for this at 3 stars. I decided to continue cooking a few more meals and not looking at any of the recipes Time limits and set my own, and the food came out perfect! So after cooking chicken legs, chicken thighs, Country style ribs, and a hamburger that all came out perfect, I decided to change what I was going to originally rate at 3 stars to five stars! My recommendation to whoever wants to buy one of these, is not to follow the recipes Time limits.

I didn't have any issues. But I can see how some people might be a bit confused. You have to select a zone, then turn the wheel to select the type is cooking you're doing, then when you want to adjust the temperature and time, you need to press the temp and time buttons to adjust those. Then you can set up another zone if you're cooking multiple things. Once you're done with all that, you can select a "smart" cook option if you want to set up another zone so it'll keep the zone with less time on hold until the timer on the other zone gets to the same point.Another nice thing is the included wire trays that separate each zone into two. So you can feasibly cook 4 different things at once if you plan it right. The top is supposed to come out crispier than the bottom and they include more suggestions about what kind of things you can cook in the same zone together.Cleanup is pretty nice and easy. Most of the air fryers I've use in the past have been things with flip up lids or mini oven styles. I feel like the pull out tray style is more common but I've never used them before. It's very nice to be able to just pull out the dirty compartment to clean it and put it back.A couple downsides.. Like a lot of other Ninja gadgets, the beeping noises when starting up are obnoxiously loud. It's not the first or only Ninja cooker like this and I don't understand why it needs to be so loud when you just turn it on or it starts to heat up. It's not a deal breaker but it's striking every time I use them. The hot air that gets spewed out of the sides while the unit is cooking really does warm up the area around it so you need to be careful what you have nearby and that there's enough space around it to vent. With cooking times up in the 40+ minute range, it's not in insignificant amount of time to be heating up your house.Overall, once you get used to some new cook times, the convenience of being able to cook a bunch of different foods at the same time is really nice. It might take longer to cook so you need to plan ahead a little bit more, but since most of the food is easy to set and forget while it's cooking, that's not really a big deal. If you're in the market for an air fryer or find your current air fryer limiting by how much you can cook at the same time, this might be one for you to look at.

With an all new vertical design, the Ninja Doublestack XL fryer allows you to cook up to 4 foods at once in a form factor that is much more narrow than comparable sized fryers. It has 10QT capacity, using individual 5QT baskets, that can be configured with removable grill spacers that allow you to divide foods between top and bottom or remove the grill spacer and use the entire 5QT basket for one food, like a traditional fryer. The design is nice, but it’s mostly plastic on the outside. The vertical basket placement is great and they slide in and out with ease. The control settings have a very nice digital display off the right hand side of the unit. The vertical basket placement is great and they slide in and out with ease. The control settings have a very nice digital display off the right hand side of the unit. You have a large and bright LCD display for time and temp and readout, along with a nice jog dial selector control. The vent fans on this one are also out the right side, not the back. For our kitchen, this works out great due to where we placed the fryer on our counter, but just be aware if that might cause an issue. It fits nicely under standard cabinets and is not too heavy if you need to move it around. One thing we do notice that I’m guessing is due to the type of plastic design of the unit, it gets very hot to touch pretty much all around the outside, and it also seems louder than other comparable fryers we’ve tried, not much insulation for temp or sound is found here. Also, while cleaning the fryer before our first use, the solder of one of the grill spacer handles broke, not a good look before we even cook something…The Doublestack does a lot. Air Fryer is just one of 6 settings that thing claims to do, including bake, broil, roast reheat and dehydrate. We’ve not tried them all, and Air Fry is probably where you’ll use it the most, but it does have the stated capability to much more. I would also assume, based on our usage so far, that a similar trial and error learning curve will be found across all the different settings. In terms of Air Frying, it’s just fine. Easy and right to the point. We had some trial and error with time and temp based on different foods, since the vertical design splits your food into 5QT portions, and if you use the grill spacers, that adds a new wrinkle related to how long you cook the food. The one benefit that we were able to see right away, is the feature of the grill spacers that when used, that cooks the food to an extra crispy style. So it’s great for those foods that need that extra crisp, that might be hard to get in other fryers. However using both baskets and both grill spacers for multiple types of food, means you will more than likely play around with the time and temp for a bit, until you’re comfortable that the food you’re cooking comes out the way you like. I noticed this more on the Bake setting myself. Using Bake settings similar to a standard oven didn’t work for any of the food we tried, so lots of adjustments were needed. But once you get the hang of adjusting the time and temp relative to what you’re cooking, it works great. One of the great features of the Doublestack is the Match Cook setting. Basically set different foods with different time and temps in either basket, and the Ninja will make sure that both are done at the same time, sort of a set it and forget it feature. No more hurrying to get one food out and wait on the other. Another great feature we love is that when the cooking is done, it actively goes into a cool down mode, where the vent fans kick into overdrive a little bit and work to cool down the fryer and not just let all that exess heat stay and build up.Cleaning is easy, as both baskets and the grill spacers are dishwasher safe, and they all have non stick coatings that allow even hand washing to be a snap, food doesn’t stick and wipes right off.Overall, the main feature here is the space saving design, along with the various cooking options this allows. it makes the case to be left out on the counter as an all around go to for quick, easy cooking with fast clean up. It has some great features built in, but nothing revolutionary here, just a great solid product from the Ninja brand.
I've got several Air Fryers, but they're the "built-in" ones from other Ninja products, like the Foodi Grill and the Foodi Pressure Cooker. It's nice having a dedicated Air Fryer, so I opted to try this new model, the Double Stack XL. I have used the previous model before (the wider side-by-side basket one) and I wanted to see if there's any improvement to this one, as with the previous model, it seemed to Air Fry very unevenly. As for unboxing, not much to see here, honestly. The retail box just shows all the various features and what food "should" look like, when made in the product. The retail box just shows all the various features and what food "should" look like, when made in the product. Inside the box, it's literally just Styrofoam and the Air Fryer unit, along with the manual and other documentation, bundled together in a plastic baggy. The Air Fryer does have the usual Ninja "tape", supporting everything during shipment. There were no dents or other defects on this unit, which seems to be pretty common with my experiences with Ninja products, unfortunately. Thankfully, no worries on my unit!As an overview, this product has several cook modes, including Air Fry, Air Broil, Bake, Roast, Reheat and Dehydrate. The modes I focused on in my testing were Air Fry and Bake. There's also 3 different preset modes to choose from: Double Stack Pro (when using the included wire racks for stacking), Smart Finish (for cooking multiple meals in different ways to have them finish at the same time) and Match Cook (when cooking the same foods in both baskets, pretty much). I did use all 3 of these options in my testing. One difference I did notice, between this new version vs. the older, wider one: The Double Stack XL's baskets have vents/holes in the back and it appears the actual element used for heating is located in the back area of the baskets and it cooks through the vents. Whereas on the older, wide model, it seemed to be top-blowing...which was problematic, especially on certain foods that had "toppings", such as small, personal pizzas - it would just scatter the pepperoni everywhere, lol. I didn't experience that with the new Double Stack XL.Overall, food quality seemed pretty good. As with any Ninja product, there is a small bit of a learning curve, so I'm sure that with a little more time and experience, I'll have even better food quality. I only had issues with one type of thing I tried to Air Fry, which I will touch on last, in the next paragraph. I tried Salmon and Asparagus, using the Smart Finish mode, with the Salmon on the top basket and the Asparagus on the bottom. Both came out near-perfect and had just the right amount of crispiness on the outer layer, especially the glaze over the Salmon. I did try Waffle Fries and Tots (not at the same time, just over separate meals) using both baskets on Match Cook and they did pretty well - you just have to pull out the basket and shake them up a time or two during the cooking process. I also tried the Double Stack Pro mode, as well, using the wire racks. Using one basket, just to test, I placed some marinated/seasoned chicken breasts on the wire rack and some sweet potato fries on the bottom. I cooked them for a tad over the recommended time and it turned out pretty great! Also, the Bake mode worked as well as expected, no issues there and honestly....it kinda worked a bit better and more evenly than my actual oven. The only thing I tried that I just could NOT get to turn out well is tortillas. I cut the wraps into quarters, brushed Olive Oil over both sides and sprinkled with salt. It didn't matter what option or mode I used, I just could not get them to turn out crispy. They'd either be undercooked...or burnt. I tried using the Doublestack Pro mode and layer them on the bottom of the basket and the wire rack, as well as just cooking them on the bottom of the baskets. Neither way turned out well at all. Had an entire batch just go in the trash.Regardless of that, I'm still going to give this unit a 5/5 review. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I recommend this for everything EXCEPT making your own tortillas, lol. It has a solid build quality and I certainly love the new technology and how it actually cooks, with the venting in the baskets, which definitely helps!

It also functions as a dehydrator, making it a versatile appliance for a variety of cooking needs. Whether you want to air fry, roast, bake, reheat, or dehydrate, this air fryer can do it all.Ease of Use: The digital control panel is user-friendly and easy to navigate. The pre-programmed settings make it simple to cook a variety of foods with just the touch of a button. The removable parts are dishwasher-safe, making cleanup a breeze. I will say if you are trying to fry small items like French fries, the small one can slip under the tray. I will most likely be purchasing the basket accessory. If the racks had cross hatching as part of the design, that probably would have done the trick. Also love the Smart finish button which allows the unit with shorter cook time to delay start, allowing it to sync up with the other tray to have both trays complete at the same time.Even Cooking: The powerful heating element and convection fan ensure that food is cooked evenly and with a crispy texture. I have been consistently impressed with the results I have achieved with this air fryer.Sleek Design: The Ninja Double Stack XL has a modern and sleek design that looks great on my kitchen countertop. The stainless steel finish is durable and easy to clean. In conclusion, the Ninja Double Stack XL Air Fryer has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is a high-quality appliance that offers great performance, versatility, and convenience. If you are in the market for an air fryer that can handle larger batch cooking and offers multiple cooking functions, I highly recommend. It has truly transformed the way we cook and has become an essential tool in my kitchen. My wife and daughter love it and use it almost every day.
The Ninja DoubleStack XL 10 QT, 6-in-1, 2-Basket Air Fryer has quickly become a favorite in my kitchen. With its space-saving design and ability to cook multiple foods simultaneously, it’s a versatile appliance that has transformed how I prepare meals. With its space-saving design and ability to cook multiple foods simultaneously, it’s a versatile appliance that has transformed how I prepare meals. At first glance, its stacked design might seem unconventional, but it cleverly maximizes counter space while offering the functionality of two air fryers in one compact unit. This is particularly beneficial for smaller kitchens like mine, where counter space is always at a premium. What sets the Ninja DoubleStack XL apart is its DoubleStack Air Frying technology. This innovation allows you to cook up to four different foods at once, thanks to the stacked meal racks. These racks create two levels per basket, ensuring that superheated air surrounds each food item for an all-around crisp. I found this especially useful when preparing a variety of dishes for a family meal, as I could cook proteins and vegetables simultaneously without compromising on texture or flavor. One of the standout features is the Smart Finish and Match Cook options. The Smart Finish feature synchronizes the cooking times for different foods, so everything finishes cooking at the same time. This has been a game-changer for my meal prep, as it eliminates the guesswork and ensures a coordinated, hot meal. On the other hand, the Match Cook feature is perfect for larger, single-batch meals, easily replicating settings across both baskets for full 10-QT capacity. The DoubleStack is not just about functionality; it’s also about efficiency. With six versatile cooking programs—Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate—it has replaced several appliances in my kitchen. I particularly enjoy the Air Broil function, which gives my dishes a beautiful, crispy finish without the need for excess oil. This air fryer claims to reduce fat by up to 75% compared to traditional frying methods, and in my experience, the results are just as delicious and much healthier. My initial skepticism about the new design was quickly dispelled after testing it with various meals. One of my first tests was cooking chicken and waffle fries. Despite my concerns about even heat distribution with the heating elements positioned at the back, the DoubleStack cooked everything uniformly. The chicken tenders were evenly cooked, with no noticeable difference between those placed at the front and back of the basket.Cleaning up after cooking is a breeze with the DoubleStack. The baskets and crisper plates are easy to clean and dishwasher-safe, which is a huge plus for someone like me who prefers minimal cleanup. This ease of cleaning has made the air fryer an even more integral part of my cooking routine, as I’m not deterred by the prospect of a lengthy clean-up process after meals.Over the past week, I’ve used the DoubleStack to prepare a handful of different meals, and it consistently delivers impressive results. Whether I'm cooking chicken, fish, vegetables, potatoes, or even experimenting with baking, the outcomes are always satisfying. The ability to double stack food has also reduced my reliance on the microwave and stovetop, streamlining my cooking process significantly. In conclusion, the Ninja DoubleStack XL has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its innovative design, versatile functionality, and efficiency make it an invaluable addition to any kitchen. While the smaller basket volume means I often use both baskets for a full meal, the convenience of cooking multiple items at once far outweighs this minor drawback. For anyone looking to enhance their cooking experience with a reliable, space-saving appliance, I highly recommend the Ninja DoubleStack XL.
Review forNinja® DoubleStack™ XL 2 Basket Multi Rack Air Fryer -We’ve been using a family-sized, extra-large air fryer for so many years, I didn’t think you could find one that would hold as much food but not take as much counter space. This Ninja model is an improvement over the double-drawer, side-by-side models that let you do so much, but sacrifice valuable counter area.Having tried a number of air fryers over the years, I thought I had settled on our extra-large one, but I’m very impressed with this model’s design. It lets you cook two baskets of the same food to feed a huge crowd, or two entirely different meals, if you have, for example, fussy kids. It lets you cook two baskets of the same food to feed a huge crowd, or two entirely different meals, if you have, for example, fussy kids. Imagine salmon and brussel sprouts in one basket and chicken nuggets and fries in the other. Each basket has a non-stick crisper tray that holds the food up slightly so that the circulating hot air can go over and under the food plus a metal rack that sits above the food on the crisper tray to hold even more food. The controls are pretty straightforward, although it’s important to read the manual to see how the two baskets can be used together or separately. You can set the time and temperature for each basket and then use Smart Finish to have them both finish at the same time, or you can load both baskets with the same cooking needs and use Match Cook to have them both share the settings without having to set each basket individually.Cleanup of the trays and baskets is easier than my old unit and the non-stick coating on the crisper trays and baskets is excellent. Two notes, if you’re planning how this fits in your kitchen and lifestyle: the controls are on the right and may be inconvenient for left handed people and the exhaust vents for the unit are also on the right. So, although it may fit nicely on your counter, even under overhead cabinets, you have to leave room on the right for the unit to exhaust properly. Finally, and this may seem petty (no pun intended) but the audio signal does NOT send my dog into fits, like some other models I have owned.
The Ninja DoubleStack XL Air Fryer is a top contender for anyone looking to enhance their kitchen with a high-end air fryer that doesn’t hog a whole kitchen countertop. Here’s what I like about it…Pros:1. No Preheating Needed: This air fryer lets you start cooking immediately without needing to preheat. It’s great to put food in and get started right away, making meal prep faster and more convenient. This is already a big improvement over my Ninja indoor grill, which forces me to preheat for every function I set it to.2. Large Capacity: The 10-quart capacity, divided into two 5-quart baskets, is perfect for most family-sized portions. The dual-basket design allows you to cook different dishes simultaneously, saving time and making it easier to prepare diverse meals. The included metal divider trays for each basket allow you to cook 4 different foods at once, which I tried, and was pretty satisfied with. Just keep in mind – if the foods share a basket, they need to have very similar cook/reheat times.3. Excellent Cooking Performance: This machine consistently delivers crispy and delicious results. When reheating pizza or air frying potatoes, it provides a crispy layer and an extra crispy layer in the same basket. This was a joy to test, especially since my family has preferences about the crispiness of their reheated foods. It also excels at cooking salmon and zucchini fries to perfection. I have some photos attached to this review as well for anyone interested in seeing the results.4. Multi-Level Cooking: The inclusion of two trays per basket allows for better air circulation, ensuring even cooking across different levels. This is particularly useful for achieving that perfect crispy exterior on various foods – and I tend to enjoy my foods being extra crispy. Some foods, like zucchini fries, tend to cook and taste better on the top tray of a given basket.5. Multiple Cooking Functions: The Smart Finish and Match Cook functions work excellently, allowing synchronized cooking times for different dishes. These features save time and simplify meal preparation, making cooking more efficient. It’ll take a while to get used to the names of each function though, so with that in mind…Cons:1. User Navigation: The user interface could be more intuitive. As a first-time user, I found myself fumbling around trying to figure out how to operate each basket correctly. The dial doesn’t function as a multi-select tool, which can be confusing and less user-friendly.2. Button Quality: The plastic overlay on the buttons detracts from the premium feel expected from Ninja. Solid, tactile buttons would enhance the user experience significantly. High-end products should have a premium aesthetic and feel, and this includes the buttons and overall user interface.3. Learning Curve: There is a noticeable learning curve associated with the various functions and settings. Keeping the first-time use instructions handy is recommended until you become familiar with the machine’s controls. Conclusion:The Ninja DoubleStack XL 2 Basket Multi Rack Air Fryer is a versatile and efficient appliance that excels in performance. Its space-saving design and the ability to cook multiple dishes simultaneously make it a valuable addition to any kitchen. However, improvements in the user interface and button quality would enhance its overall usability and premium feel. Despite these minor drawbacks, the air fryer delivers on its promise of crispy, delicious results and is a worthwhile investment for busy households. I’m happy with it’s ability to prepare fresh meals and plan to get plenty of mileage out of it – I just hope the plastic overlay on the buttons will hold up and not crack or break over time.
The Ninja brand has done it again. Air Fryers have been quite the rage of the past few years and both myself and wife have religiously used our Air Fryer for multiple tasks from main dishes, side dishes, reheating foods, crisping that ever so not crisped item and more. We have been using Ninja brand for Air Fryer since the double bucket Foodi came out with complete satisfaction, the only downfall really being the amount of counter space it would take up. This is why I went for the DoubleStack XL and overall definitely satisfied. The DoubleStack XL takes up about 1 foot of counter space width wise while providing a significant amount of 10 Quarts of cooking space. There are two buckets, stacked on top of each other (hence DoubleStack). The buckets slide in and out easily; however, have to be mindful when pulling out the top bucket that if pull too far will tilt/come out downwards. Just an adjustment when used to both buckets being at counter level. There are metal racks that allow you to stack within the buckets. This can allow for division of food from top and bottom of one bucket. If needed, could cook 4 foods at two different temperatures with this feature. The heating elements are located toward the back and appear to push air forward into the buckets for circulation. I had seen a couple reviews prior to getting the Air Fryer that there were parts of the food which did not get cooked through. Since using the DoubleStack, I tend to take out the bucket and shake it some to move around the food and with this action have had no issues with thorough cooking. You are able to have the different cook style per basket along with temperature setting and time. There is a setting to allow for timing of both buckets completing at the same time, but I have not found that to be of benefit for myself (others may enjoy finishing up that meal exactly). The control panel being off of the side is a bit weird though, as it adds to the overall dimentions without adding cook space. I do feel as if the design made it limited as you would not want to take up more height necessarily, but the panel itself seems out of place.Ultimately, the DoubleStack XL allows for the Air Frying technology that I have come to love with a condensed space saving design. That is the most impressive/important feature of the DoubleStack. When kitchen counter space is limited in most homes, this allows for a countertop Air Fryer that is not taking up the whole counter.
