I bought two if these units last year for Christmas. I bought one for myself and one for my mother. My unit died after a couple of weeks - no power at all. I had it replaced and got a second unit that had button issues. Sometimes the buttons wouldn't respond at all and other times they would do whatever they wanted. If you push the up arrows, you could get a higher temp, lower temp or just a sore finger from pushing the button a thousand times. I decided not to return it because the return process was so painful the first time. I found out this Christmas that the unit my mother has was doing the same thing with the buttons, but she never told me because she though it was her hands (she can't press things very hard because of her arthritis). Well, it wasn't her hands. It didn't work for me either and I could not get her unit to even power off by pressing the power button. I had to unplug it. Both units are only roughly a year old and both units are not usable right now. I've wanted to contact Ninja about this, but they do not cater to hearing impaired people and only let you call them on the phone. No email. So if you're hearing-impaired, you have to find a hearing person to make this call for you and hope that the problem is understood all the way through. This is very poor customer service. Just give us an email address and we can all convey our problems much more clearly and and we can do so during off-hours.

I am so impressed with the Ninja - Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 Indoor Grill with 4-qt Air Fryer! This grill is truly a game changer for home cooking. The 6-in-1 functionality allows for grilling, air frying, roasting, baking, broiling, and dehydrating all in one convenient appliance. The 4-quart air fryer basket is the perfect size for a family and allows for even cooking and crispy results. The grill plates are also easy to clean and the drip tray catches any excess grease. The digital display and preset cooking functions make it easy to use and the non-stick surface ensures easy clean up. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to expand their cooking options and create delicious meals at home. 5 stars!

Best kitchen product we have ever bought. Completely worth it. It's my first air fryer but it's one of the top ones out there after doing a lot of research and reading up so many reviews. I like that it has a wider base as supposed to the taller tower ones. I feel that the food have more room to cook evenly as supposed to crowding and stacking them. I don't much care for the added thermometer. It just gets in the way and another thing to clean. We can grill our meat perfectly without it. The unit advertised to have the "dehydration" capability, but that is kind of useless. There just isn't enough room to lay out enough amount of food to make the dehydration's wait time worthwhile. Though I have not tried it but I'd estimate that you maybe can hydrate at most 1 apple ... MoreBest kitchen product we have ever bought. Completely worth it. Food come out perfectly crisp on the outside and very moist and juicy on the inside. I have the best salmon of my life with this air fryer.

I upgraded from a smaller air fryer to this unit so I could cook more at a time and I was not disappointed.I started out with using the automatic “roast” function using the thermometer and automatic settings for a Turducken. It turned out to be incredible! Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked all the way through in record time.To try the “crisper” function, I threw in some mozzarella sticks at the recommended time/temp from the guide book. They turned out great and were properly cooked in 2 minutes under the listed time, so I’d suggest as with most good timed cooking to keep an eye on things when in the last few minutes since results may vary.Turning to the “grill” function, I tried some fresh garlic & rosemary trout with a bit of olive oil. This was done very quickly, had crispy skin on the edges and very moist meat. Again, following the recommended time/temp and monitoring. For cleanup, the non-stick surfaces are a breeze to clean under hot water with some Dawn and a soft sponge. The stainless steel splash guard comes out easily and is easily cleaned with a bit of soap and a soft bristle dish brush. I found that to keep it in good order and smoke-free it is important to also clean the inside of the hood with a little soap, damp sponge and paper towel mop to avoid that grease buildup. It should be noted that the product is not super light because it is well built and sturdy. I find I have no problem moving it to the storage location on our wire rack, but it may be difficult to move for some folks, so be sure you have space for it!With all the cool settings and features, I look forward to trying more recipes in this product as it has completely replaced my use of the conventional oven and a number of things I would have otherwise used a pan to cook. For my needs and lifestyle, this product is a 10/10.
This thing is nothing short of awesome. I’ve had it for a little less than 2 months now and still get excited every time I use it. I bought it because I used to make most of my proteins in the oven, so I thought a grill would be a good addition to my kitchen - I live in an apartment. The smart thermometer doesn’t miss and once you get comfortable using the grill you can set it to your liking and get your food cooked exactly the way you want it. For example the manual recommends to cook chicken on high, I prefer mine on medium. Only reason why I use the oven now is if my food can’t fit in this, as it is so fast. It takes me 15 min to bake some biscuit in this, including heating time, the same biscuits would take me 40+ min with the oven. I haven’t had any real issue ... I haven’t had any real issue with smoking, except I tried to make air fried chicken with flour and all, and it did smoke, not to the point of setting off the fire alarm thankfully, but I still had to open the windows just in case. Also I’m African and tried to make suya in it, which is grilled meat with some mixed African spices and I think the spices kept on setting off the fire alarm although there was no smoke whatsoever. It was very weird, and I’ve made suya in my oven before with no issue, so I know it’s something with the grill, probably since it cooks at such high temperature, not sure. As you can see on the pics I’ve put it to the test with all kinds of things: lamb chops, chicken with and without flour, whole fish, steak rare, medium and well done, lobster tails….and they all came out SUPER juicy, even the well done steak!! For things like lobster that are not in the manual I’d just google the temperature at which it’s done and set the thermostat to that
I’ve had this for about 2yrs. I use it at least 4x per week, sometimes twice a day. I purchased 2 extra splatter shields so I’ll always have a clean one to insert. But, it doesnt do it’s job by protecting the heating element to prevent smoking. It sets off my smoke alarm every single time and it’s extremely annoying! At this point, I just remove the alarm from the wall before I start cooking. It’s not that easy to clean the grill (the air fryer piece is easy to clean), u have to soak it once it cools off. The brush that comes with it is a joke. Useless. I use a cello sponge. The thermometer was very accurate initially but after over a year, it’s less accurate but still nice to have. After wearing out a few smaller air fryers cooking for a family of 8, I decided to invest in a good quality, larger capacity air fryer. Also, it needed to have a grill plate, After reading many reviews for all of the leading brands, I chose the Ninja XL. We love the size and power. So far we've used it to air fry, grill, and bake with great success. The sensor probe works great also. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the switch in the lid sems to stick a lot. It tells us to close the lid when it we already have. That requires us to lightly slam it shut to get the Ninja to start. Other than that, we love it!
I have had this for about a week now and it is absolutely incredible!! It is loaded with features such as grill, griddle, air fryer and you can dehydrate too. It is so easy straight out of the box. It comes with a small cookbook and the instructions were both easy to navigate. I absolutely love not having to get out multiple pots and I and to cook. It is so versatile in every way imaginable. The best thing on this newer model is you can cook with the lid up or down. We loved making bacon and eggs right on one area! Fajitas, hamburgers, seared steaks all cooked to perfection. It has a splatter shield on top and all the cooking surfaces are nonstick and easy to clean. The main grill is heavy duty and snaps in place which you can use that or use the other cookware ... The air fyer crisps to perfection every single time within minutes. You can bake cinnamon rolls and just anything really! I can’t even believe how functional, easy and tasty meals are now, not to mention fun! I highly recommend this beautiful appliance!!
So far I have done steaks and pork chops in this grill. Takes a while for it to come to temperature and for the meat to cook but the results have come out excellent. Thick cuts of meat nicely seared on outside, juicy on the inside. I used the thermometer both times and outside of needing to flip your meat when it beeps, and setting on a plate to rest, it is completely automatic. Easy to clean after but you need to allow about an hour for the grill to cool completely. Major con is when using the thermometer you don’t know how much time is left so you have to be within earshot of when it beeps to flip the meat and then to take it off to rest. I’m going to have to set a separate clock on the next go around so I can figure out the cook times so my sides finish the same ... MoreSo far I have done steaks and pork chops in this grill. I’m going to have to set a separate clock on the next go around so I can figure out the cook times so my sides finish the same time as the meats do. Prepare to set your oven to the lowest setting so you can keep your sides warm because the grill takes some time. Haven’t used the air fryer setting since I have a ninja oven that already does that and I prefer it because you can see your food as it cooks, which isn’t possible on this grill other than opening it up. Other con is the fryer basket and grill grate cannot be stored inside the unit at the same time so be prepared to have lots of space to store everything.
As a 24/7 Realtor, my meals fall into “Time is of the Essence!” I consider myself to be an Air Fryer critic! I use it almost every day! The temperature feature is so important and to 510 degrees leaves others behind. Im enjoying using temperature probe tool really works without having to check often and foods are not being over cooked. I like the pan depths for ease of getting foods in and out. The larger size is great for spatchcock chicken and cooking for 6. And there’s room to cook 2 foods at one time. My meals come out looking like decorated plate restaurant meals. Reheated foods taste and look like first prepared so we waste far less food. I’d buy this Ninja over again.
