I already have a couple of other Ninja kitchen appliances and had heard good reports about this one. We enjoy home made soup and this does not disappoint. Previously I would use an immersion blender to achieve a smooth soup but the function on this machine far exceeds what my immersion blender could do. There are manual settings as well as automatic and the machine will keep the soup warm at the end if you are not ready to serve immediately. This machine can also be used for sauces, milkshakes, smoothies and hot chocolate too but I have yet to try these functions. This product has literally saved my wife's life twice. Sheryl got throat cancer and was unable to ear solid foods, I tried tinned soups but was worried about the additives so I bought a competors soup maker, it was not great and lasted only a few weeks, I then did lots of research and bought a ninja soup maker, it works flawlessly, the only soup she could keep down was mushroom, I made it every two days and watched her weight gain. Unfortunately a few months later her cancer worsened and she had to have her voice box and tounge removed, sheryl is now fed by a tube into her tummy, she was prescribed a good supliment that comes in small bottles and fed by a syringe, it's dairy based and Sheryl became less and less tolerate to these foods, her weight dropped from 55kgs ... MoreThis product has literally saved my wife's life twice. Sheryl is now upto 54kgs and full offenergy and looks amazing. The ninha has saved her life and I say this with no exaggeration, without it I would have lost her. I first met her in 1980 as teenagers and re met her in 2919, I lost her for 37 years, without ninja I would have lost her agsin. Thank you so very very much. God bless Kind regards Stephen and Sheryl

I live in the own multiple products from Ninja. I was diagnosed with a significant mass on my vocal cords. It was an absolute horrific experience.i was extremely sensitive to salt. And as we all know, salt is in EVERY SINGLE THING that we buy.. I unfortunately had another significant mass on my vocal cords, a year later. At this point I had lost 40 Lbs because of my sensitively to salt., additives that I could not control... I bought this BELIEVING THAT IT WOULD HELP... I actually had to take out a payment plan because of my hospital bills... I was so excited to when it arrived. Not a single recipe in American conversions. Up to yet she has made several soups in it and it's done an exemplary job of making them, both in texture and taste, in fact the tomato soup was the best I've ever tasted. We do also have the ninja auto IQ1000 that's been great also and has been used a lot. But you can't use hot liquids in it, let alone actually do the entire cooking process as well. Me? Well I can tell from the motor that it's got a limited life span of regular use, by that I mean I don't think it's heavy duty. It doesn't claim to be and should last about 3 years of regular use, that will in cases be exceeded. For the money it's great, there are others costing 3 times the asking price of this. I am also using this to make almond milk from whole almonds which I strain through a mesh bag. Foods can be roughly chopped in the machine so they cook through through in the 30 minute cycle. Plus there are additional controls if you just want to chop foods and serve without cooking. It also makes great smoothies. I think this is a very versatile piece of equipment. The glass container is quite heavy so may not be suitable for some people and you need to avoid getting the container wet on the underside due to the electronic connectors. I have owned soup makers/liquidisers/blenders for many years but decided, due mainly to my satisfaction with my other Ninja products, to combine those functions in one machine. I have not used all of its functions yet but am totally satisfied with the soup maker. The functionality is easy and the soup is produced wonderfully. I would have graded it five stars except for two minor issues. It is extremely heavy for some folks to handle with ease, I myself have arthritis in the hands and it is difficult. Secondly, it is rather tall and will not fit under my kitchens wall cabinets. As I said minor points, neither of which detract from the overall quality, usefulness and ease of use.
Brilliant piece of kit. Does its job well and makes soups as smooth as I could hope for. As others have said it is quite heavy, I hope the handle will pass the test of time. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the self clean function... It's not so much a luxury as it is necessary because you can't really get under the blades very well. That being said using just as a blender is also quite difficult since the blades are elevated a decent margin from the base making blending small amounts of anything especially without liquid problematic. All in all its a soup maker. And does it well. Given the option to go back. I wouldn't have purchased it now I've used it as I was hoping to use as a normal blender aswell.

It take 30 minutes on the chunky setting. It was nice and hot when finished. The negatives are because the blades fire up a couple of times during the cycle it blends up some of the chunky ingredients. It doesn’t completely puree them but the can go a bit mushy. The other thing I found when serving the chunky soup up, is that the ingredients get stuck below the blades so you end up with a lot of liquid at first. The smoothie function is very good. The clean function is great, it heats the water and cleans the jug well. I am on my second machine as the first stopped heating. Ninja did replace the blender, I had trouble getting hold of ninja on the phone but did get it sorted eventually. Overall I like the blender but it’s not without its drawbacks.
