I really like Nintendo Amiibo and collect only the ones I truly like. I have been on the fence about getting the Guardian Amiibo since i bought my switch and Breath of the Wild release day a year ago. I finally decided to buy the Guardian Amiibo and I am glad I did. I usually take items or figures out of the box and display them as they should. However, I refuse to take this one out. The way the box is constructed makes the Guardian look as if it does in game. It is very high quality and detailed and is easily my favorite amiibo. Worth the steep price of an amiibo.

This is one of the few amiibo I am putting back in it's packaging after removing the dumb scanning blocker. In the packaging, the figure is depicted as moving across the plains of Hyrule with a cardboard image around the figure. This is cool to see, especially when considering other amiibo don't have anything decorative like this around them.In terms of actual functionality, in Breath of the Wild, this figure will spawn a certain useful resource. The thing is this is only usable once a day. It's appreciated but not worth the $20 if that's all you wanted this figure for. If you'll use this in other games to get bonuses... It's still not worth it. As a figure itself, this amiibo is worth it with functionality being a bonus.

Cooler than expected
20 March 2017

The Guardian Amiibo is easily one of the most unique amiibos released by Nintendo. You can customize the legs of the guardian since it is made of a flexible, but sturdy plastic material (though I wouldn't do it too often). The attention to detail is incredible, given that they added color to some of the smallest part of the Amiibo. In game (BoTW), the guardian grants the player metal boxes that can be manipulated at one point in the game. It also provides the player with other useful items. This is one of my favorite amiibos to date. A possible downside is that the amiibo is a bit larger than most so storing it with other amiibos may be less than ideal. On the other hand it also gives you an opportunity to place it in a nicer location on your desk or room.

Very high quality! Looks great on my desk at uni. Looks like the pink paint is unique to each model too. 9 just cause I wish it was a tad more vibrant but if you're still considering getting one as gift or for yourself just get it it's really fun.

Expensive, but great
15 March 2017

I will start this review by admitting that this product is very expensive. It costs about 1/3 as much as the game itself. If you compare the costs and the amount of content they provide, the amiibo will never come close to being comparable in value to the game. With that being said, if you have the money to spend, I really enjoy having this amiibo. Once a day, I can scan it in for a special chest. The chest usually provides a random weapon that would be hard to find early on, but more readily available later in the game. Some may feel that this is cheating, but others will not. I am very particular about making sure that I beat the entire game on my own with no help or advice from online guides or friends. The weapons are it unlocks are very fragile, and will break by the time you fight 3 or 4 enemies. So, while it will only provide you with a small, temporary benefit, it is very fun to unlock these special weapons and has increased my enjoyment of the game.

J's review of Nintendo Guardian amiibo (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Collection)
22 September 2020

The Amiibo figure is nice, gets you very useful Guardian item drops in game, but the box art is just stunning; I love Amiibo packaging, it always exudes quality even if the detail of the figure itself isn't quite what you'd hoped.Which is why I'm unimpressed that Nintendo decided to put a foil tab underneath the Amiibo to prevent you from scanning it in box. This meant I had to open the box in order to use the it, and in attempting to open it carefully with a Stanley knife, I accidentally tore the box art; I was devastated. I don't understand the logic of this having a foil tab preventing you from using it when all other Amiibos I have purchased so far can be used in box, even the Champions set doesn't preclude you from scanning in box, and that is the most ... MoreThe Amiibo figure is nice, gets you very useful Guardian item drops in game, but the box art is just stunning; I love Amiibo packaging, it always exudes quality even if the detail of the figure itself isn't quite what you'd hoped.Which is why I'm unimpressed that Nintendo decided to put a foil tab underneath the Amiibo to prevent you from scanning it in box. Be prepared to either buy two of these or sacrifice the box if you want to use this Amiibo. My bank balance is not pleased that I am inclined to the former.

Possible the best amiibo figure for BoW game

I am new to amiibos characters. Our Nintendo switch is our first console for us where we can use amiibos so I do not have any prior experience with them.I own all the Disney infinity collection but that works for PS4This character was very well built, it is HUGE the box is like 2 amiibos in one and I like the quality of the material they used for this characterI have not defeated any of them in the game yet!!!I also like the fact you can use this amiibos for Zelda BoW once everyday in the game which maximizes the use of this amiibo and any other amiibo since you can literally use ANY amiibo figurine on the Zelda game for he switch. Solly's review of Nintendo Guardian amiibo (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Collection)
30 September 2021

The guardian amiibo is more detailed than I could've imagined for the price, down to the little bumps of decay and erosion it has in the game. The opposable arms are fun to mess around with and position it in anyway you want on display. Though slightly smaller than imagined, it is my favourite figure, and definitely worth getting while its in stock.

What's not to like?
27 July 2018

I'm wouldn't really call myself a collector (of objects), although I've been known to acquire small collections of certain things I do enjoy, just not to the extent of what feel people would think of when you call someone a collector. The amiibos though, could become the start of a problem for me.These are surprisingly well done, and although made mostly of plastics, I really like the amount of attention to detail given to many of these. They have a good weight to them, so they don't feel especially "toyish." The painting is really well done for what it is and I think they truly make a great collectible for anyone that's a fan of the series. The big bonus, of course, is the interactivity with the games. Who doesn't like getting free loot?
