From the nostalgia of *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Super Mario Odyssey* to the indie darlings like *Hollow Knight*, there's something for everyone. Multiplayer gameplay is a blast as well; I’ve enjoyed countless evenings battling friends in *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*, and the joy-cons make it easy to jump right into action without needing extra controllers. Another feature that takes the Switch to the next level is the Nintendo Online service. With access to classic games from the NES and SNES libraries, I can relive my childhood while discovering gems I missed out on back in the day. Plus, the ability to play with friends online broadens the gaming experience immensely. The design and build quality are also well thought out. The screen is vibrant, making every burst of color come alive, and the lightweight structure makes it easy to carry around. I appreciate that it feels robust yet portable, meeting the needs of a casual and serious gamer alike. One minor drawback has been battery life during intense gaming sessions, but with a portable charger, this is more of a minor inconvenience. Honestly, the joy of gaming on the Nintendo Switch far outweighs this small issue. In summary, the Nintendo Switch is not just another console; it’s an invitation to adventures that transcend boundaries. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia, community, and innovation. Whether you’re indulging in solo play or making memories with friends and family, the Switch has a unique way of connecting everyone. I’m excited to see what new games will arrive in the future, but for now, I couldn't be happier with this gaming experience!

This is not remote play. That is the gimmick that made the switch famous and it's greatest selling point. So if that is something that intrigues you, you will love this. Travel a lot, this is perfect. There are some drawbacks if you are a serious gamer I'm my opinion. Whether docked on a tv or in handheld mode effects how the games perform. Also the screen is very small, only a little larger than a normal smart phone. Some games are hard to play in heldheld mode, text is small details are hard to see. Personally I like tv mode. Also the switch is very underpowered. It cannot hold up to ps4 or xbox one let alone the current Gen. Games on the switch take a heavy heavy hit in the graphics and performance department. They have lower resolution 1080p tv mode, 720p in handheld. The frame rates are lower and the graphical details are reduced when compared to say ps4 or ps5. So it falls somewhere in the better than ps3 or xbox 360 but not as good as ps4/5 or xbox one/series. But one thing that is clear is the switch is a great destination for indie games. Indie games are less graphically demanding and plentiful. That and the always charming Nintendo exclusives makes this a good console for casual gamers, young children and gamers on the go. There is also fragility. This is a fragile price of equipment. I doubt it will survive too many falls so supervision on young kids is needed. I would live to show a picture of the joycon controller but mi e broke with minimal use (I use a controller usually). Last the kick stand on the back is very flimsy. I would recommend you get a third party stand. They are way better. It's a nice compliment to a traditional home console like a ps5 or xbox, but current game games should probably be avoided if you want modern graphics looking their best.

This console is one of the best handhelds of the past few years. The Switch can alternate between being a convenient handheld device or be played on the TV like a larger console, allowing more usage than one that cannot. It is largely more durable than past Nintendo consoles such as the DS. This has been dropped several times and is still holding up just fine. I cannot say the same for my DS Lite. The Switch can be customized and decorated to your heart’s desires, with Joycons, joystick covers, and cases. The only downside to the Joycons is that you experience drift with the joysticks faster than say a PlayStation or Xbox controller. Sometimes they will not drift for a very long time and other times it will do so after a year or two. Not only have many, many games came out for the console but several (such as the Metal Gear Solid series, an older title) have been ported and are now easily accessible to modern gamers. Most games you could want to play are in the console’s expansive library. The Nintendo Switch can handle and run larger games well (as long as there is room on your device for it). Nintendo has had the Nintendo Switch out for the longest of any of their other consoles they have produced, and for good reason. The Switch has had more use in its lifetime for us than the Gameboy or the DS.

Sure, it's no PS4 or PS5, but it's an incredible little machine with such incredible versatility in such a tiny package. While it might not have the pure processing power and graphics capability of the other two major systems it does do what Nintendo has done best for a long time, provide a reasonably priced quality portable gaming system. The advantage this time is that the Switch is both a home console and a portable console in one unit. This is something that consoles in general have never really been able to do until now and it's amazing how great the game quality is even in this small form factor. I mean, the Wii was good in the motion control but the gimmick did wear after a bit. The advantage this time is that the Switch is both a home console and a portable console in one unit. This is something that consoles in general have never really been able to do until now and it's amazing how great the game quality is even in this small form factor. I mean, the Wii was good in the motion control but the gimmick did wear after a bit. The WiiU really felt like a disappointment in that it just didn't bring much to the table and Nintendo clearly wasn't going to be able to compete in the home console market against the other two juggernauts. What Nintendo has always been great at though is dominating the portable gaming market and the switch sees them bringing their expertise in the portable market to the home console market in a power play that really paid off in my opinion. Now, this system does still suffer from some of Nintendo's generally less favorable business practices so do take that in to account. The designs is prefect size, you can play everywhere you go ,The price for the Switch itself actually isn't that unreasonable so I don't fault them for that whatsoever. The peripherals, on the other hand, really put a dent in the pocketbook if you need to buy anything that didn't come in the box (and you probably will need to at some point, let's be honest). The price of games also comes at a premium just as it has with past Nintendo systems as you will rarely see even older games every discounted or put on sale while such things are very common with the the competing systems. For instances, "Zelda: Link's Awakening", which has roughly 13 to 15 hours of content, will still cost you $60 which is incredibly high for a game that offers so little content with little replay value. Sadly Nintendo has a tendency of doing this and always has so do be prepared to pay premium prices for most games with the Switch. All in all I still think the unit is worth it particularly since you just can't find a better portable gaming platform than this. I definitely recommend getting the Switch over the Switch Lite as those are fully integrated and if you bust an analog stick or a button you're pretty much screwed. With a Switch you can replace the side controllers as you need and we all know controller buttons and analog sticks can wear over time so that alone is worth it. I mean, for $100 more you get a heck of a lot better of a system than you do with a lite so I highly recommend going this route if you're looking in to a Switch.

I got this from 2019 when i have so much free time in warranty time at home in the Covid-19 pandemic. I've seen the Nintendo Switch before, but never experienced it directly, so I kept wondering how easy it is to play if the console is so long. I brought the idea of a tablet to the Switch, so of course I used it. On both sides of the Switch are two controllers (Joy Con), so it turns out that this is convenient and very comfortable to use. During the few times I played, I never felt inconvenienced by this. Even holding the Switch in your hand is a joy, an indescribable pleasure. It's been a while since I picked up a piece of technology and it feels so strange. It's been 16 years since I returned to playing handheld games so it feels different. Good finishing, reasonable size, comes with a dock to export images to the TV screen easily, simple usage, focusing on gaming... are the things that Nintendo impresses me with the Switch. It shows that Nintendo puts a lot of effort and dedication into a gaming console, and optimizes it for gaming, from how they arrange the two controllers, button positions, how to configure the controller... Truly professional. If you join the game, it will be save your free time with the fun.

The switch is also built with safety features that make it easy for parents to monitor and regulate their children's playtime through the Parental Controls app. This setting has helped to control the amount of time that my child spends playing games, especially when school is in session!

I took a dive being unsure how useful a switch would be to me given I already play on ps5 and there's only so many times I thought I'd want to play games on the go. But being able to play bioshock for example on the go on a beautiful OLED screen really got my attention properly invested into the series again. The modular design to play how you want and with friends on the go really is so convenient as well. The modular design to play how you want and with friends on the go really is so convenient as well. Ok it's underpowered and aging hardware but it's still impressive to me that essentially just a small tablet device can play games like bioshock and Alien isolation etc. I think there will always be a passion for fixed space dedicated hardware and PC gaming to push the boundaries on graphics but in terms of how mobile chipsets are becoming much more relevant for running more modern game engines now I think there will be a big crossover in future for people who want to play the latest games but aren't fussed about needing fixed hardware to support the latest graphics features etc. I hope nintendo's next console follows a similar vision. There is a negative with the screen however hence 4 stars. IT SCRATCHES REALLY EASILY! There is a plastic coating on the screen which is basically not removable that is there to protect the glass underneath from shattering. It's a nice feature but I think because of this plastic film it means the plastic film itself scratches really easily. So don't make the mistake I made and make sure you put your own screen protector on it. It's not like a top end smartphone screen that's really hard to scratch. 19

Defiantly worth it, from a certain point of view.

I bought this at the Schaumburg, IL Best Buy so shout out to them. I'm honestly surprised, it came in really good condition even thought its refurbished. Works good too, and so does the dock. However I do want the reader to consider thinking about buying one used, if you've never had a switch before, then please just buy one that's new. The only reason I bought my Switch was because 1. I already had a couple lying around, 2. I'm only going to be playing one game on it, that being Nintendo Switch Sports. Storage isn't really big though (about 64 gigabytes, excluding the system bios and memory) , which was my main concern with the first switch. I myself, am a digital gamer, and I could basically fit only 3 16-17 Gigabyte games onto the system storage. If you are ... MoreI bought this at the Schaumburg, IL Best Buy so shout out to them. If you are planning to download your games, or yourself is a digital gamer, defiantly get an SD card, thank me later. If you expect this to be like an Xbox Series S/X, or an PS5, compared to graphics, you are looking in the wrong place. The console is powered like what feels like to be a teeny tiny bit better then the Wii U. If you are looking for something more powerful that is Nintendo related, just wait till the next gen console comes out. Overall I love this product, even if i don't play it that much, its still nice to have.

Great portable gaming system
4 December 2023

Bought it as a backup second switch in case the V1 dies. This V2 version has a brighter, whiter screen and much longer battery life (at least double) due to the improved processor efficiency. I decided against the OLED due to the many problems talked about online regarding strange color tints, artifacts, and loss of sharpness from having a larger screen with the same resolution. The older LCD version is already excellent and very sharp. The only drawback of the new V2 is much shorter wifi range. My older V1 switch could be twice as far from the router and still connect. Keep in mind with a second switch, you can easily copy over your main user name and then sign in with the same eshop account, but you will have to redownload all your digital games and physical game ... MoreBought it as a backup second switch in case the V1 dies. You can move saves between systems but not copy them onto both systems. I like that the Macy's version included a separate screen protector and case. Box was a bit beat up during shipping, but nothing broken inside. The switch is a great system with many fun games and features. Highly recommended if you want a game console that doesn't require much space. Grab a samsung pro plus micro sd card if you want the absolute fastest download speed and load times (this card has the best random read/write speed of any card on the market, which is ideal for gaming).

Late to the game, but we love it!

We have had this for a few months so far, and we really enjoy having it. We were pretty late to jumping on the bandwagon for this system, but I am glad we were able to finally get out own.It figures that when we do get it, they announce the future release of the Nintendo 2 being in the works for next year. Just our luck! I do hope that they continue to support this system for a long while yet, because we were really frustrated with the cutoff with the Nintendo 3DS store.Using this in it's dock is streamline and easy. I will say that it can be a bit uncomfortable after a while, when holding it as a portable system, though. The controllers sit nice, but the little bit of wiggle is enough to be noticeable. We are still getting adjusted to it, but I do prefer to use ... MoreWe have had this for a few months so far, and we really enjoy having it. We are still getting adjusted to it, but I do prefer to use the controller on the handheld attachment that comes with it.I was hoping to snatch the Mario edition that was around at the same time, but unfortunately they were sold out at my local store! We do not have very many games for it, but so far the ones we have played have been really fun so far! Graphics are great, no issues with lagging, sound, etc! *knock on wood*We did purchase a larger storage card so that way we could have more space for downloading games, when we are able to. I will say that the storage is a bit lacking when you consider the sheer size of some the games you can play on this system. So just please keep that in mind! Mind you, you do not have to get the branded Nintendo SD Card, as we just picked up a different brand SD card from another store. It works just fine, so far.
