I’m not a big video game fan. We have a wii that we don’t use too often. My kids don’t play fortnight, in fact they almost never play wii. Because their ages are a little spaced out (14 and 9) it’s sometimes hard to get the 14 year old to give out 9 year old the sister play time she wants. Well one of them saw a video of this game on YouTube and asked for it. And they never really ask for stuff like that so I was like okay why not. Well there are so many different games on this game that they LOVE itand don’t get bored from it. They are spending more time together and having fun, and want my husband and I to play with them too sometimes. I would not have thought a video game would add to more family time but it has. Definitely worth the money.

For months on end, my husband, daughter (who is six) and I have been playing "Wii Party" almost every night. We have a few other party games (Ravin Rabbids, Rio, the Wii Sports games, etc.) but we kept coming back to Wii Party because we liked the way it was set up like a board game. It's gotten a little old so I was looking for something similar that might last us a few weeks of regular play. I then realized that Mario Party was basically *the* game that started it all so I took a chance and ordered it. I've never played Mario Party before- before we got the Wii, we had an Xbox, and I don't even know if it was available for that.I have to say we're VERY happy with Mario Party so far. Almost every spot on the board offers something to do- a mini game, a "surprise" (usually a new dice with limited numbers that only YOU can use so you can guarantee/avoid certain spots on the board), stars (which you collect as you move around the board), "ztars" (which take away stars), etc. There are a few epic mini-game battles along the way.At the end of the stage, stars are counted up as well as smaller achievements and the winner is crowned. The game features one style of play- the traverse the board game - but there are multiple stages, so it's really like eight different board games. And the mini.

I just love Nintendo. I remember my best friend bought me my first Nintendo Console (new) in 1989. I still got the original box and everything. It just like it never been used. Then I purchased the Super Nintendo then the Wii and I stop right there. I find out about this game from my local library and just had to purchase a copy $37.04 (new). I only own (3) Wii Nintendo games. Super Mario, Mario Party 8 and Mario Party 9. I guess my love for game consoles are starting to fade away for I love iPad and PC games now. Thank you.

There's a lot of opinions about Mario Party 8 vs 9. The big difference in 9 is that everyone is in one vehicle aka game pieces. So this means you move as a group. This doesn't make the game easier or impact fairness though. When your character is driving then your character is the one affected by both bonuses and traps. It does however move the other character past these benefits or bad spots on the board. You may have no choice but to say, lose 10 stars just by rolling a dice when it's your turn or you may be moved past the bonus you needed to get ahead. This changes the strategy from 8 because you aren't only rolling for your turn you are also rolling while thinking of the next players turn. Honestly they are both great games for different reasons and I highly getting recommend both as they are that unique.
Thankfully I read a couple of the reviews for this game before we decided to purchase it. The play of the game is much different than in previous versions. You travel in a car with the rest of the players so there is some added strategy on what you want to use and when. One downside to this is the game's duration is pretty much set, you can't do the mega long games when you would set 100 turns. When you get to the end of the map everyone counts up the mini stars and it's done. Just know it's different when you're getting into it and it's not so bad.
We haven't unlocked everything yet, so my opinion is based on 5 games we have played so far. We own Marioparty 8 as well. So, I'll just give my opinion in comparison to 8.-They have a lot more mini games, and they're all good so far.-Now instead of each player moving on the game board individually, they move together in a boat (or whatever they're riding). I liked the other way better because you have more freedom to choose which path to take, etc.-You don't "buy" stars with this game. You get stars by simply passing the star space and winning the mini games. Again, I liked 8 version better because you had to think how much money you spend at stores to buy different items w/o running out of money to buy stars.-Which lead me to mention there's no store to buy items ... MoreWe haven't unlocked everything yet, so my opinion is based on 5 games we have played so far. But we're still having a lot of fun. It may get better as we unlock more stuff. 4 stars because we also own Marioparty 8, but if this is the first Marioparty we own, I'd given 5 stars.
I have played all the Mario Party games since N64 and they have always entertained me and my friends... for the most part as some of them have been pretty bad. Mario Party 9 is a mix of something new and isn't that bad though what makes it good also kind of makes it bad. Some of the good is that the game is moved at a faster pace as everyone moves together on the gameboard though on the other side of the coin this takes away from the feel of it being a boardgame style where eveyrone use to be at different portions of the map at all times. New mini games are always a plus though some of the mini games make use of the motion controls which honestly not necessary. New mini games are always a plus though some of the mini games make use of the motion controls which honestly not necessary. There are no more items to get other than random types of dice to help you move around the map quicker or slower. Mini games are random now so you have to land on a specific spot to initiate a mini game or just by randomly landing on an unmarked spot that might cause a mini game to start. There was a time when it took almost 2 and a half turns taken by everyone until the first mini game happend. There is extra content and the maps are based on lovable locals from the Mario universe to unlock. Single player is fine though of course this game was truly ment to be played with others. For a party game it fits the bill and is a good entry to the series though of course it does take some time to get use to the new style of play with everyone traveling together. There isn't much strategy to this game as it is really based on l.
I remember playing the original Mario Party way back when. Wow this has come a long way since then! My girlfriend, myself, and my friends all enjoy playing this from time to time. This game has a lot of pretty fun mini-games that haven't gotten old in the slightest. The game itself is diverse and has a great replay value, especially if you have other people willing to play! I recommend this game to anyone that has enjoyed any Mario Party games in the past, or anyone that is looking for a fun, turn-based game.
Got this for my 5 year old and he absolutely loves it! The graphics are bright and clear and fun. He enjoys choosing which character he is going to be and which land he is going to play in...he particularly likes the Boos castle and the Magma. The 'board game' part where you throw the dice lasts about 30 mins, which is ideal. He also loves the minigames, which are only 2 mins long each, but they are exciting for him. There are lots of various minigames to choose from. I have even played the minigames myself when my son has gone to bed!! A good fun, child friendly game.
