I used this for a dry and itchy scalp for 3 months. I didn't find it to be any better or worse than drug store brands with the same ingredients. It did make my hair very dry but I stuck with it 3 days a week for 3 months to see if it would help. What did happen was the sides of my fingers, where the nail meets the flesh, first became dry, then thick layers of calluses formed, and then then thick callouses started to split into deeply painful craters. This shampoo contains DMDM hydantoin. If you don't know a few brands have class actions against them for this ingredient because it produces formaldehyde I believe. Which is making peoples hair fall out. Besides that I have had a dry scalp my whole life and have tried everything, this made it 100 times worse. I now have eczema down my neck, behind my ears. It's so embarrassing. I would give negative stars if I could. Going back to Lanza

I dye my hair regularly and have not noticed the products stripping the color any more than a normal shampoo would. The shampoo does seem to dry out my hair quite a bit but once I use the conditioner you would never notice. I've had problems for the past few years, but got to the point where I would scratch my scalp raw almost every day and had to deal with constant flakes, even right after showering with a dandruff shampoo. I made a pretty harsh review about this shampoo but search after search nothing will give me the same results as this shampoo. I have severe seborrheic dermatitis. I had 2 bad instances after their formula changed when the s & c just wasn't making any difference. I got really disappointed because its not cheap.I've bought new bottles in between and after those 2 times and it worked its normal magic healing powers. This s&c continues to be the only thing that helps my scalp and skin feel normal and trust me I've looked and tried all kinds of remedies. I don't need to use my medication when I use this. I'm not sure what was the issue with those to bottles but I've since gone on to by 3 bottles and they all give me the same wonderful results.

Even without using Nioxin, I'd normally experience a mildly dry scalp on occasion. The previous Nioxin, which I used regularly, took care of this.My scalp reacted severely to this new version. Around the crown of my head, from ear to ear - a line of red, itchy irritation that turned to very thickened dry skin, then to severe dandruff. Because I thought it might be a particular medication I was taking, I continued a few weeks to giving the NEW Nioxin Scalp Recovery shampoo a chance.But when I stopped using it was when my scalp "recovered."
Ive struggles with psoriasis for 4 years and have tried everything. Nothing has helped until i started using this. I will say there are all still flakes on my head but it's totally manageable. I tend to use the conditioner on my scalp and then use a traditional conditioner on my ends since it doesnt make my hair as silky as i prefer.

I've been using a month. My hair is just getting so oily each day that goes by. I wash 2 times a week and my hair is still greasy after, even if I wash twice with giant globs of shampoo!
