As an avid fan and owner of numerous Nitecore flashlights, my expectations were high when I ordered this headlamp. As usual, my expectations have been exceeded by Nitecore's attention to quality, function, and detail. There were three main selling points of this headlamp. First, was that it was rechargeable. As I do a lot of camping, carrying a single power cell is a much more convenient charging solution than carrying numerous batteries of various types. Being able to charge this off of a power cell is a very big deal! Second, the run times for this lamp are really a significant advance over other models I have owned. Third, I can remove the light easily from the headband to make this flashlight function as a powerful stand-alone flashlight, not simply a ... I liked it so much I bought one for myself. This is a GREAT light!

I purchased the Nitecore HC35 for use primarily as a work light. I attach it to my shirt to provide greater illumination for reading labels and seeing into dimly lit work spaces. I have also attached the torch to the included head strap and used it while exercising. The strobe feature is a great bonus, as it provides tremendous intermittent bursts of light while simultaneously preserving battery power. Due to its versatility, durability, and outstanding battery life, the HC35 will increasingly become my go to light for many more activities going forward! The HC35 is my first purchase from Nitecore, but it certainly won't be my last.By the way, I compared the HC35 to several other L-shaped EDC torches offered by Streamlight and Fenix Lights, two top tier brands. ... Nearly perfect, but wish:- I could pull and twist the bezel similar to my C17 Flashlight and have a red LED/or red lens to preserve natural human night vision, or not draw so much attention. Us military, law enforcement, hunters, etc, need that capability.- headlamp was USB-C rechargeable & supplied battery too- option for an IR illuminator LED via same mechanism I mentioned for red LEDOtherwise, this would be the perfect headlamp
It is slightly heavier with the 21700 battery, but not enough to make a difference. I study animals in West Texas starting around 730pm in the evening and end when the sun comes up. On the high setting I can grab a couple batteries and be set all night. This light is wonderful and I love being able to take it off and hold it like an ordinary light. I highly recommend this light. The turbo setting is outstanding and not only is it extremely bright it has a wonderful flood throw. If I need to see what is going on, that is my go to setting.
I typically don't like the over the head strap on the head band, I have several of the HC33s and love them. This one is much larger and heavier. The battery they use are a little larger reason they have a longer run time, also has a higher output. This headlight sure does put out more light than the HC33 and a wider softer beam. The headband i mentioned earlier is nicer also, it's a little thicker than the HC33 head bands. I take the over the head portion off, but i think you'll need to keep it on because of the weight of this light. The head light clips into the headband and I'm not really liking this feature. At times i want to pull on the head light to readjust and i keep pulling it off. The HC33s don't attached with a clip and i can pull on them and readjust as ... I have a separate nitecore battery charger and still use this charger with the battery the light comes with.
Thanks for an excellent product that works great!I suggest one tiny but helpful improvement: Label, or otherwise note in the instructions, to remove what turns out to be an insulating paper disk on the negative end of the battery before trying to charge the battery for the first time.I was eager to try out my new HC35. I plugged it in just like the instructions said and waited for the approximate 3 hours 15 minutes for it to charge up. It blinked all the time. At the end of the 3H 15M the LEDs did not light up. I thought maybe it will take a bit longer. I left it blinking overnight. Still did not light up. Took the battery out. Looked it over. Went to put it back in when the paper disk fell off. Bingo. Problem solved. Plugged it in. Waited 3H 15M. Turned it on. ... Wow it works!Either label the disk, add a note to the instructions, or add a sticky note to the outside of the light to tell the new owner to remove disk from battery before charging for first time.
I bought the HC35 after looking at a few videos online and happy with my choice... It's a robust torch that is rechargeable, very bright and well made in my opinion. The switch feels responsive and strong, has the features I use most often (very low, low, med, high (1000 lumens) and a ridiculously high 2400 lumens for short bursts. The 1000 lumens is fine for most things. The regular torches you buy are only 300 or 400 lumens. Also you don't have to click through the useless strobe modes like a lot of headlamps have. Battery lasts a long time on everything except the 2400 mode. Personally I think it's worth the money for something that'll last for years if you look after it. The headband is easy to put on too.
If your walking path or cycling path calls for a specific illumination, the Nitecore HC35 USB Rechargeable LED Headlamp can provide exactly what you need, and do it very well. So many times the illumination in an area calls for very little illumination to keep from interfering with the work of others. In this case, the Nitecore can be powered down to just a few lumens. When you need a great deal of illumination, the Nitecore can be increased up to 2700 linens. With five different levels of illumination, the Nitecore can get the job done. Thanks to B&H for providing great products at a reasonable price.
I bought this 2.7k lumen headlamp in order to ensure a fellow coworker did not have a brighter one. Needless to say it is working as intended. As far as I can tell it is slightly less rugged than my Surefire Optimums, though not by much. The clip allows the light to detach into a flashlight which is really cool. The battery is field replaceable unlike the Surefire one. The headband fits a head well and a hard hat not at all. This Nitecore headlamp lacks an IPxx rating while the Surefire was an IPx6 if I remember correctly which is splashing water on it from any direction. The Surefire only goes up to a 1000 lumens but it does it gradually with a rotating dial which is nice though. It is significantly less costly than the Surefire.Due to the perils of construction ...
