Nitecore SCL10 Smart Photography Light and Power Bank

Versatile product. Carry it during a day of photography session, or as an EDC item as a power bank. The button to select the Brightness Mode while switching its White Balance is tricky. so plan some time for that during use. Else it will slow you down during change of lighting situations.

Early Experience with SCL10I received this video light/powerbank on the 30-Nov-2021. It was packed in a sturdy box with a USB-c charging cable and a camera mount.On first impression, the unit seems well made with a solid metallic feel. The buttons are well labeled and responsive.The powerbank function works as it should: fast charge and fast recharged. A bit boring, but in a good way.However, the light works exceptionally well and really impresses me. The display says it will last more than three hours in this max setting, but I did not have the patience to verify it.The ability to easily adjust the light temperature helps tremendously. I am able to adjust the yellowness of the light to my comfort level and avoid the glare, good for reading.In conclusion, I truly enjoy this light and glad that I have made this purchase, and will not hesitate to recommend this unit to family members and friends.

The one pack to rule them all.In the past, having to do any form of shooting in a poorly lit or challenging light area would mean carrying a LED light, battery, charger, etc. Nitecore’s SCL10 solution is elegant and it has seriously battery life for most of our shooting needs. Would be getting more of these lights for the studio so that they can lessen the weight that they are carrying and the mounting bracket is very handy for those who are doing news gathering and wants a straightforward, hotshoe mounted lighting solution. And you can charge your camera at the same time! That is indeed clever! Hope they make a larger version of this too in the future.

Great idea

I dabble with photography so I know lighting can be important. Problem is with it being so easy just grab a pic with our phone, you're not always prepared to enhance the available lighting. This is a great device to keep in your daily carry. I like that the temp and intensity are adjustable. As a battery pack it works great too. I do wish it had a second USB-C port, but no big deal. My only negative comment would be there's a rattle when it shakes. I thought it might be one of the buttons (power/+/-) but when I hold those down I still hear one.

Love it....but fire risk!!

I bought 3 of these to use for various shoots. I had been using one at 100% for fill lighting. I turned it off and put it in my camera bag and into the trunk of my car. When I took the bag out I could feel heat coming from the bag and upon opening up the bag, the SCL10 had been turned back on by the pressure from the lid of my bag. The unit was unable to be touched it was so hot. I had to get a towel to remove it from the bag and it took over a half hour to cool down enough to hold! I believe had I not gotten to it when it did, the entire bag would have burst into flames and potentially caught the trunk of my car on fire....it really was that hot and clearly there is no safety shut off on these units....please fix this as it really was a potential disaster. Nope

Didn't last to my 3rd business trip. Worked fine for a while, light was nice. Was preparing for my next trip and went to charge everything. Went to see how much it had discharged since my last trip and the screen was very garbled. Tried to charge overnight and it wouldn't take or hold a charge as it was still dead in the morning. I didn't even put it through its paces yet as I had planned to take this backpacking. Maybe I got a lemon but the price being charged is a big bet that you won't as well. Suggest going for another brand based on this experience.

Perfect Video/ Macro light!

I retired from Photography last year but still love shooting Macro images. Bugs, knives, gun parts, flowers, whatever it is I like getting close-up shots. This light makes 1:1 Macro Photography so much easier! The quickly changed color output is so easy and helpful, output is great and only under demanding conditions is full power needed. (i like to use a Canon 180 mm f3.5 with a 25mm extension tube, 100% output can make this work even handheld) The bonus of being able to charge my phone is icing on the cake! As an avid flashlight nut I’m well versed with Nitecore quality, this light doesn’t disappoint in this regard either!Well done, and thank you!
