Disappointing this light does not hold its charge, it stops after 2 hours. This rear light replaces a previous Solas 250 I had for 6 years which bounced off the back of my bike. It could hold its charge for days and I never had to worry about it. Maybe the problem is just with this light I received.Cheers Rick C

Can't believe how bright this light is. Great price and very versatile with connection to a bike. Only had it a month so can't say how good it is over the long term, but I have high hopes. Looks like a quality product. I've paid 3X more for what appears to be a comparable light.

The NiteRidere Solas 250 is very bright, day or night, and its ability to adjust brightness allows for riding with groups, to avoid blinding the rider(s) behind you. It's true that the rubbery piece that acts as a shield to dust and water needs to be improved as the fit doesn't feel right, requiring a couple of visible checks to be sure that it was placed correctly. Also, the clip on its back along with the rubber pressure mount allows for flexible fitting, though when clipped to a bag it tends to aim in a downward direction which is sub-optimal. It's wide angle visibility, where the light fall off can be critical, is very adequate especially when compared to other units presently on the market, though it can be improved. Still the light fall off from sub-optimal ... MoreThe NiteRidere Solas 250 is very bright, day or night, and its ability to adjust brightness allows for riding with groups, to avoid blinding the rider(s) behind you. Still the light fall off from sub-optimal placement is acceptable to me. I can't speak for its longevity as I've only used it for about 6 hours, so far (times two as I have more than one and had them on my wife's bicycle too during these rides). As to its ability to hold a charge, I bought 4, keeping one for each bicycle (for the wife) as an extra unit just in case so that shouldn't be an issue with me. Still, the rides were about 3 hours each and it kept the charge, as the maximum output, for the entire time. I charged the units on a fast charger until the red light turned blue. I'm actually not a fan of the rechargeable lights. I would rather use high quality, double A rechargeable batteries, keeping an extra set or two, and changing the battery when needed since this method is still better for the environment, fast (no wait for a charger) and, in an emergency, double A batteries are everywhere.

The NiteRider Solas 250 Tail Light is a great product. Even in daylight, a flashing taillight can be a life saver. Definitely worth the extra money over the cheaper products available. I really like that the mount holds the light solidly in place, yet it is also easy to remove for recharging, and easy to replace onto the mount. I have not yet exhausted the battery, but so far the battery life has been great. I'd like to see a better cover for the micro USB charging port, as the current configuration seems like it might not last. I have used the Niterider 650 headlight for years, and it's still going strong. I recommend their products, including this tail light.
This is an expensive bike light so I had high expectations, which have so far been met. This light is easy to fit with a rubber strap and adjustable angle bracket. So far it has't switched itself on when I'm carrying it off the bike which many lights do. It's really very bright on max (don't look straight at it!) but has several modes. The lowest is similar to a standard LED rear light and the remaining settings add in the super-bright flash. It has 180 degree visibility which not all rear lights manage. It seems robust but I've not been using it for long. I wanted a Niterider rear light because I've been using a Niterider front light daily for six years and it's as good now as it was when new so hopefully it's a company that still values quality. My 3rd Solas 250 in a row! Good battery life, good flash and constant options with good brightness when needed. Solid mount and waterproof. Good things come in small packages... Though this is not too small!
The light functions were very good. However1. The battery life must be based on the lowest lighting mode. I had constant plus flashing and it lasted less than 8 hours.2. The light did not click into the holder. By the time I found this out, I had destroyed the package. So now I have to hold in place with an elastic band.
I charge the light at home. I cycle an hour in the morning to work with the light on fast flash (4 hr run time). I cycle home an hour at night with it on steady low (40 hr run time). When I turn the light off it indicates that it needs to be recharged. The light is only a month old so should be at optimum battery performance for holding its charge. Very annoying to have to charge it every day.Would be good if it had a flash mode that wasn't as bright so that it didn't blind cyclists behind you at night. Both the pulse flash and fast flash are very bright to following cyclists at night. Great for the day but too bright at night. It is really bright, but on full power lasts about 30 mins before the warning light indicator comes on. So the battery is not so good. I successfully cable tide it to my bike helmet, it's attached really well. The quick release is good
Great product. Super bright, perhaps too bright for cyclists following behind, when in group rides. The only grief I have, though, is the locking mechanism. Make absolute sure the light clicks into the bracket. I'm on my third light now, light one and two fell off mid ride, never to be seen again (at least not by me), because I failed to click them into place. Hopefully I've learnt the lesson now!In short, I'm so happy with the light that I've replaced it with the same model. Twice. But make sure the light is nice and secure on the bracket. If not, it'll fall off.
