A better-quality phone is better for you, better for your pocket and better for the planet. That s the idea behind Nokia G50, a future-proofed smartphone that s great for today and ready for tomorrow. It s 5G-ready thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile Platform at its core. Nokia G50 is also equipped with a battery that can last for days, a 48 MP triple camera supported by AI and image stabilization, Nordic reliability and build quality and the very latest Android 11, with 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of monthly security updates. You re always looking for beauty in the world, and now you can capture it in stunning detail. The Nokia G50 is equipped with a 48 MP triple camera for capturing breath-takingly detailed pictures that you ll absolutely love. Having a smartphone for a long time isn t much good if it starts to feel slow and outdated after a year. So, while the Nokia G50 comes out of the box with the latest Android 11, it ll also be ready for what comes next with 3-years of monthly security updates and 2-years of OS upgrades. Now that s smart. Nokia G50 is great now, and destined for further greatness. Because it s going to be even better once it connects to 5G thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile platform which is designed to optimize future technology. A smarter smartphone, you could say. The perfect selfie moment won t always stop and wait. With Selfie video stabilization, you ll stay steady in the frame even if your arm isn t. And if you re more of a night owl, the Super night selfie mode, helps you take great selfies in low light.

A disappointment

I decided to by this phone because I had used a Nokia of the same price range at the time, and was very satisfied with it. This one turned out to be a disappointment though.Firstly, I was unpleasantly surprised by it's size. It just about fits ito a pocket, but complicates some motions. What makes it worse, is that extremely long screen is useless for watching videos, as the aspect ratio is too large. My phone probably has a defect, as from time to time when I unlock it, the screen starts to flicker and keeps flickering over multiple sleep/unlock cycles. Camera does a bad job. Sometimes objects are multiplexed on the images and the images are blurred even at daylight. I was so excited to try this phone as I haven't used a Nokia since the early days of wireless phones! The display is beautiful, gorgeous colors and great resolution. Excellent for watching shows, videos and browsing online. The camera has some impressive features with the panoramic shot and being able to zoom out for super wide shots. There's a good array of editing tools. The colors overall and resolution are not as rich or defined as the Samsung Galaxy9 I was using. It struggles with motion shots and being able to focus quickly. The video recording on the other hand looks great, no complaints there. The call quality is ok. It seems difficult to get my ear exactly where it should be to hear who I'm speaking with but the speaker phone works great. Plenty loud and sharp with nice bass. I was surprised that there aren't any native apps, this is strictly a Google Android interface. That's nice on one hand because you don't have all the bloat ware but I struggled for example with my picture storage as I'm a frequent picture taker and I don't like having to use Google photos. I'd much prefer a native built in gallery. The processor is good, this phone is super fast, I haven't had any problems with crashing while using multiple or power hungry apps. It does a better job of not getting hot than my old phone and the battery lasts forrrreevver!! Overall I think this is a good capable phone for the price tag. If you are used to a premium phone it may seem like a step down but again it's a fourth of the cost! A good investment for economy minded users!

Buggy and inconsistent performance

I am disappointed that the System UI (user interface) has frequent crashes during regular use. I have customized several settings and found that without explanation, certain ones perform as their defaults. The log-in module, at times, requires me to re-enter my passcode after entering it correctly, for no apparent reason. There is inconsistency in app performance. For example, the YouTube app allows me to minimize the player and continue listening while navigating to other apps. Then at other times, I minimize the player and the content stops playing. There just seems to be no pattern as to when or why it will continue and other times, it does not.It is a shame that this phone is not more effortless to use because it is an attractive phone with good battery ... MoreI am disappointed that the System UI (user interface) has frequent crashes during regular use. Excellent Phone Especially when on Sale

I bought this phone unlocked from JB after needing a replacement phone. I looked at what JB HiFi had online and found this one but wanted to get it in-store. The G50 had a sale price and was in-stock. The lady who served me was nice and handled my purchase quickly. The phone itself is larger than what I'm used to but I'm getting used to it. Android 13 was available when I started the phone for the first time and it took about 30 minutes or so to update.I really like the finger-print power button. I would've also liked a dedicated side shutter button as seen on Xperias.

Great Phone!!

I recently got this Nokia G50 with 5G and the speed is amazing, compared to my other phones. I got this phone in Ocean Blue, it's a really nice color and there's already a screen protector in place! Setup was simple and I was able to transfer everything from my old phone, without any issues. There was an immediate update available, it didn't take much time to complete. I love how big the screen is on this phone, it has a 6.82" screen and it makes it so much easier for me to see and touch the correct buttons. It is pretty heavy, but I don't see that being an issue. The Nokia G50 has a good amount of storage included and if that's not enough, an SD card can be inserted as well. The Nokia G50 has a good amount of storage included and if that's not enough, an SD card can be inserted as well. For those of you that like using Google Assistant, there's an assistant button conveniently located on the side of the phone. Although the battery does last a long time and I don't have to charge it throughout the day, it only lasts me one day not two. To be fair, I am constantly using my phone and I receive hundreds of notifications a day. I'm sure it would last much longer with normal use. I'm not disappointed with how long the battery lasts, since Im not charging it multiple times daily. Now for the issues I have with the Nokia G50. Both are pretty minimal, but still worth mentioning. Even though the camera does take very clear pictures, the color is pretty dull. I also noticed an issue with the phone powering itself on for alarms. Not a big deal or is it? Who wants to miss an alarm because they forgot to power on their phone? The issue I have is, all of my notifications catch up as well and that could be a problem, if I was at a meeting or wedding...... To me, those are minor issues and don't change my mind about how great the phone works. With that being said, I definitely would recommend the Nokia G50.

Great little budget friendly phone, but...

Bought this phone about a year ago, actually more like 10 months ago. I was sick of paying for over-expensive cellphone products and so I decided to give Nokia a chance. My first phone ever, back in 2002 was a Nokia. There was some nostalgic feeling towards this purchase. The phone has been okay overall. There are definitely some quirks and buds now and then. For example, I watch a lot of YouTube videos, and every now and then after watching a couple of videos back-to-back, when I click on the "skip the commercial" button, the video I was watching will not display correctly, with images being pixelated and/or colors distorted. In order to my to resolve this issue, I shut down and restart the app and that usually helps. Another big problem is the camera. Nokia advertises this 48-megapixel camera but really I think is more of a gimmick. The quality is just not there. There is no stabilization so forget about zooming in on something, it will be nearly impossible to snap a clear picture because of the movement. Also sometimes I get this double exposure or shadows where the picture is just not useable in any sense. If you are a big social media picture taker/post I wouldn't recommend this phone at all. The phone itself is really pretty, with a textured blue back. Also, the value is second to none, for the price you not only get a phone but also a case and screen protector. I would still recommend this phone to someone that just needs a regular plain phone and is not big into taking and posting pictures. For myself, I would not buy it again. I'm going to try another Nokia but I'm hoping I could stretch this phone for at least a couple of years then I would switch for a higher-end Nokia to see if it makes a difference.

For a phone under 300 dollars it's a decent phone. The camera features are my biggest gripe. Well that and the size of the phone. It can be difficult to operate with one hand. The software is a little sluggish and if you're trying to do too much at once it will freeze. If you're trying to catch a quick photo of something that won't stay put for long you're out of luck. And the night sight feature is not super great. The battery life is solid. I've been using the phone all day watching videos, on phone calls, and browsing articles and I still have almost a full battery. And I absolutely LOVE the micro SD slot finally being available again. Ever since Google play music went the way of the dodo, I've been lamenting not being able to just load up my phone with music. ... MoreFor a phone under 300 dollars it's a decent phone. Ever since Google play music went the way of the dodo, I've been lamenting not being able to just load up my phone with music. Since so many other phones don't give you that option I was stoked that I could dust off my old micro SD card and play my own music on this phone. I also love the audio jack. I hated the idea of having to get wireless headphones and worry about keeping them charged all the time and I'm so happy I still get to have the old school headphones AND the option to have wireless if I feel like it. Overall the storage space and expandable storage, the long battery life, and the fact that you can crack a walnut with the screen on this phone and not leave a single scratch make it totally worth the 250 dollars. It's a decent bang for your buck.

Performance, Elegant Style & Future Proof
5 January 2024

Had purchased one in September 2023 and it's now January 2024. I'll admit I had my eye on it for years being a Nokia fan from the Lumia/ Carl Zeiss collab. days the G50 is a reminder of what Nokia used to be. The crisp, responsive display with that brilliant contrast in this unmistakable frame and build was what I expected and more. The battery holds up with heavy content consumption and the camera performs nicely in every situation. I quick-launch my camera alot for the real in the moment shots and the ease and control with the pro panel is my favourite feature. I couldn't be happier and wish the security patches support extended another three years.

Was good tell the last two or so update.

The G50 started as a ok phone, nothing fancy, had good camera, big screen, it was good. I liked it, when I got it in the earlier part of 2022. Than Nokia did some system update about 3 months back?, and it went to junk. Everything is slow, buggy, giving fail to load notification with apps and google search, the screen white or black screens way too often, resets just because. the camera was originally fast to load, but slow now. Way slower than my 4 year old Samsung tablet. I contacted Nokia, and they asked me to do few basic reset the first time, factory reset the next, and got a email saying they had no such issues reported, and if I wanted I could mail it in for repair. Was so complicated wasn't worth the hassle, so I'm stuck with a junk phone tell I can get ... MoreThe G50 started as a ok phone, nothing fancy, had good camera, big screen, it was good. Don't buy a Nokia the support is horrible and you're going to be stuck with junk if anything happens.

When truth and magic collide
18 January 2022

Needless to convey, as I continue to entrust Nokia with the fulfilment of my telephone needs, it is surely more than loyalty that I feel towards Nokia; loyalty, after all, being the least of virtues. Over the years, and now, with its renewed vigour, together with my long-held devotion, there is in me a sense of esprit-de-corps, as a worthy aspirant again enters the field in pursuit of well-deserved recognition. With my new Nokia G50 – itself both the wand of an orchestra conductor, and the baton passed between two runners in a relay, in its synthesis of form and function, its beauty and its rigour – following and combined with a recently purchased XR20 – two Nokias in unison – I now have symphony and victory, with all the right cues, and with all the right ... MoreNeedless to convey, as I continue to entrust Nokia with the fulfilment of my telephone needs, it is surely more than loyalty that I feel towards Nokia; loyalty, after all, being the least of virtues. By any name, it is my favourite colour. The ratio between the length and the width of the G50, however technically described, brings to mind that of beauty itself, 1:1.618. It is not as one would first imagine, yet it is perfect in its rendering. Design liberates function; function fulfils design. The result, for me, is balance; in feel, and in comfort and efficiency of use, both ease and delight. Were this a technical review rather than one of aesthetics, mention of other specific nuances might be made. Suffice it to reveal here, regarding my Nokia G50, from infatuation, I have progressed into the domain of love, both, admittedly, in the realm of obsession. Infatuation lies in mystery, rather than in identity. Love exists when truth and magic collide. Obsession is but the exact opposite of mediocrity. I can hardly wait for my next new Nokia.
