Nice helmet. Fits was a little on the larger side but not unbearable. Love the field of vision it provides. The drop down sun shield could come down a little lower. The tab to open the shield is located at the bottom of the shield and took some getting used to when opening. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase... Show more

12,000 + mile review
I've got over 12k miles and two years on the bike and bought this helmet at the same time. I have a full beard and found the chin bar accessory to be more of a hassle than the frill it presents. I quickly realized that with it removed even on cold mornings, the face shield slopes down far enough that i never missed the chin bar.The field of view as others have stated, is phenomenal, the one major redeeming point about this helmet.I like the left side sun visor mechanism, however visor itself began sticking at the beginning of Winter, probably the second year of owning it. It still functions but i need to use my pinkie finger to lift it while releasing on the side mechanism, as it fails to retract anymore. Can't say much about ventilation, seems average - always ... It still functions but i need to use my pinkie finger to lift it while releasing on the side mechanism, as it fails to retract anymore. Can't say much about ventilation, seems average - always warm to hot in the summer, even in my dry climate. It ran very small and i had to send it back and order the next size up, as i couldn't get it onto my head after several tries, while using their sizing chart. The foam was pretty good in the beginning but after 12k miles its all compressed and the helmet wobbles on my head. The ear pads are made in two foam sections glued at the ends and covered by fabric. I never did get used to them as they created pressure points that got very annoying. I eventually removed them temporarily only to create a lot wind noise. I then removed half of the foam piece which made it generally more tolerable, although i was constantly fussing with it at stoplights, while wearing the helmet.Noise level if i remember back to the beginning was decent. It's pretty noisy now considering the compacted foam.My head shape for reference is between round oval and long oval and this helmet mostly fit the shape, and after breaking in i didn't have any further issues with my forehead.Basically the N40-5 that i'm reading about today, which is the same helmet without the chin bar etc, is adequately priced considering the overall life expectancy of this product. If i end up with another Nolan, due to my limiting head shape, I'll definitely buyer the lower priced version, and hope for the best for the first year.... Show more

I have tried a lot of different manufacturers, different styles and price points. I ride year round in the Northeast. This helmet is my current daily, with a Shoei Multitec modular a close second.First, fit is tight (I’m a large), especially when putting it on. It will hurt your ears. When you’re in there, I would describe it as snug, which I prefer. Finish I consider is excellent.Venting is very good, maybe a little too good, as there always seems to be a draft in the top. The middle vent has 3 settings, the sides are either open or closed. The vent built into the face shield is goofy to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it works really well. Exhaust is always open.Padding is thin, but okay. Helmet feels really lightweight. The flip down shield is a little dark for me, and could drop down a little more, but is easy to use.The reason I was drawn to this helmet was the field of vision touted, and its truly amazing. If I could, I would be wearing a 3/4 lid all the time, but safety and weather reasoning gets the better of me. This lid is closer to the 3/4’s open feeling than any other full face I have tried. The helmet came supplied with a pin lock, and I leave it in year round. Fogging is limited to the extreme bottom of the shield, and does not obstruct vision whatsoever. Peripheral vision is amazing, with me just being able to see a shadow of the sides. Down vision is truly revolutionary for a full face, from the design of the removable chin bar and full length shield. It is not a quiet helmet, but not overly noisy either. I wear wax earbuds always, so no issues. The Euro style quicklock chinstrap is fiddly to get off, but sturdy and adjustable. The removable chinbar is a great feature, for me. It’s not as safe as a regular full face I’m sure, but the option to take it off during my commute home and enjoy the backroads journey is awesome. It locks and unlocks positively, and the full shield works with it on or off, even at highway speeds. Seal has been waterproof with the bar in place in a downpour.... Show more

looks good, nice design, poor quality. I hope that in the future they will make the same model but with quality!
5 stars ⭐️ for design and wide view. It has a large visor. It's the strong point of this protective helmet, What you don't find in other protective helmets. 0 stars ⭐️ for quality. The quality is poor, it makes all kinds of sounds and creaks. Extremely annoying. I'm thinking of taking it apart and gluing it with a quality silicone glue... Show more

New rider, first helmet, would buy again.
I am a new rider, this is my first helmet, and therefore I have nothing else to compare it to. I can only point-out the things I like and don't like about this helmet after a couple weeks of use.I'm a smaller guy at 5'3 and my head measures 55cm. I ordered a size XS (Black Graphite). When I opened it, there was a sticker on the back that read “XS 54cm”. This almost made me want to exchange it for the next size up, but after a couple of hours around the house the size felt good and so I decided to keep it. The Revzilla size-chart was more accurate than the sticker on the helmet. Also, the colour I received is nothing like the product picture. It's more of a matte black with tiny bits of glitter that give it a slight-shine. I'm actually really happy with the colour ... It's more of a matte black with tiny bits of glitter that give it a slight-shine. I'm actually really happy with the colour and it looks so much better than the picture, but if you're after that gray colour that's advertised be aware of this.----------The main reasons I picked this helmet over others I tried and returned are; Modular, visibility, weight.Modular: This one is different from other modular helmets because the chin bar actually pops-off entirely instead of folding upwards. Don't expect to go modular mid-ride, but since the visor is so big, you can pretty much get the same affect by lifting the visor. It's a life-saver in stop-and-go traffic. One thing to know is that the clips that connect the chin-bar to the helmet are plastic. They feel like something you'd find in a child's toy toolbox. Since the chin is a high-risk impact zone, I feel this is a big safety flaw.Visibility: The large visor provides a great field of view and really lets me enjoy the ride more. My peripheral vision is barely impacted and as a result I feel much more aware of my surroundings. I have noticed it fogging a bit near my mouth after a light rain, but cracking the visor open quickly flushes out any condensation. Personally, the large visor makes me forget I'm wearing a helmet. I'm new to wearing helmets, so I feel constricted when I first put it on, but with such a large visor I quickly forget about it.Weight: I ordered about half a dozen helmets before settling with this one, all of them modular, and this is the lightest of the bunch. I smiled at how light it was the first time I put it on. The shell-size keeps me from feeling like a bobble-head even with my 5'3 slim frame. I've worn it for hours on end during parking-lot practice and had no post-neck sores.Ventilation: Though my head can get warm, I haven't gotten uncomfortably hot on ~85F days. The external vent sliders on-top of the helmet do feel very poorly attacked and I can literally see the glue holding them down. They wiggle slightly when opening/closing them and so I avoid doing it with gloves on. I'm hoping they don't pop-off mid-ride.Comfort: The liner is very soft and has the right amount of padding in all the right-places, however the chin-strap is incredibly irritating. Other helmets I tried pressed too much on my temples, this one feels even all-around. The chin-strap is a quick-release system that makes it very easy to secure and remove, however the large components dig into my Adams apple and cause soaring. While I do trust the strap to hold during an accident, the pain is very distracting while riding. When I've been riding long-enough to forget about it there's no problem, but for the first 5 minutes it's incredibly uncomfortable. Again, I'm not use to anything on my head, so this might be because of that.Protection: I feel safe in this helmet and because of that I have more confidence while riding. I don't know how a SNELL helmet would compare, but for what I paid I'm happy with the level of protection. With such a large visor, if it where to crack during a crash then that would definitely be a concern. However, for me, the benefits of a large visor outweigh the risk. Again, the most questionable part is the plastic that locks-in the chin-bar.Noise: This thing seems to block very little wind-noise and after going 35mph for a few minutes my eardrums begin to hurt. I bought some memory-foam earphones, which solves the problem and lets me listen to music, so this is by no means a deal-breaker. I plan to have my ears plugged with every helmet I use, so noise-cancellation isn't a huge concern of mine. If for some reason I don't have ear protection at-the-ready, I can see it becoming a problem. If you ride without ear protection be ready for the noise.Other: The built-in sun-visor is spring loaded and will help in a pinch, but I wear large aviator style sunglasses instead. They fit comfortably and feel very secure. If you wear glasses than they should be fine. Being summer, I haven't had to deal much with condensation, so I haven't attached the included pin-lock visor. The chin-bar came with a wind-guard, which I quickly removed. It doesn't seem to do anything but block wind and therefore decrease ventilation. However, in the winter this might actually prove useful.... Show more

Not for people with adams apples or laryngeal prominence
This is a quality product that was very accurate in the fitting chart. Fit flawlessly....expect one huge caveat. If you have an Adams apple or laryngeal prominence and a longer neck, the chin strap WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU.I mean, it works...but the strap will scrape and smash your adams apple into oblivion. The head fit was outstanding, however the pain from the ratchet strap was unbearable. Looking down, looking up, looking side to side all scraped my adams apple really bad. Even at just 1 click of the ratchet it was WAY TOO TIGHT. I have never hit the return button so fast after trying on a helmet. If they pushed the strap just a half-inch more forward or made the ratchet just an inch longer, this would be useable.Unfortunately, it is not.... Owned for 2yrs, is it still safe?
When I bought this the foam was holding my face well, but over the years I can now rub my chin against the front. I have not gained weight since, so I suspect that the foam is just poor. The foam, due to design, stops around your cheek bones. Now the helmet floats more than I'd like it to and the only way to prevent it is to choke myself if I don't want to risk my chin driving into the chin bar on crash.I am unfamiliar with other modular models, but if they all stop their foam around the same spot maybe this is a common concern. I will not buy another modular helmet if that's the case. The removable chinbar is nice to be able to put your helmet on with headphones/ear plugs, but I never really ride without it. That is my prerogative, perhaps I'm just safety conscious.... Show more

Sizing Issues...and Not a Flip-Up
I was excited to get this helmet and couldn't wait to unbox it. Unfortunately, Revzilla does not distinguish between modular and flip-up helmets and include both styles in their 'Modular' helmet category. This ended up being a modular where the chin bar is removed via slide locking hardware...not a flip-up. I was willing to live with this given the styling, but when trying this helmet on, it was immediately apparent that the sizing was smaller than normal. I've taken larges in S/S and Shoei helmets in the past, but still measured to be sure. Nolan calls 24" a 'large', but my 23.5" head barely fit. This is not a 'break it in' sort of snug...it is a migraine-inducing tight. I returned this and bought another Nolan, only in a true flip-up configuration and a size larger.... Show more

What I Was Expecting
So my first order of this helmet had two problems, one it was way too small even though I measured my head and ordered the correct size per the sizing chart, and two the inner sun visor was broken straight out of the box. After waiting another 2 weeks I got the replacement from Revzilla, at no cost (even though I did have to call customer support and complain to get the free shipping for the replacement, it wasn't automatic), and everything was good with it both size and function wise. The main reason I bought this helmet is for the increased visibility in heavy traffic that this helmet offers, and to that effect it delivers. I also really like the venting system they have for the face shield. With the shield completely closed and the front vent open you get a generous flow of air straight up that does two things: 1. It keeps the visor from fogging up. 2. It delivers a nice cooling breeze to my forehead and that keeps the sweat from happening or going into my eyes. Also, at road speeds this helmet is super quiet and not a lot of random air gets under the chin either, so I see that helping a lot in the winter in keeping my sinuses from drying out due to too much cold air. Finally I like that the helmet not only contours to my head snugly, but it also contours to my jaw line too so I feel really secure in the protection offered. So for the reasons mentioned above I'm giving this helmet 4 stars. Now to the bad... Obviously shipping time from Revzilla is a huge issue, so if you're wanting to get this helmet for your weekend ride that's coming up you best order something else from somewhere else or just suck it up and wait. Also, quality control over at Nolan is lack luster, so just be prepared in that you may or may not get a lemon straight out of the box. The last and biggest con is the price. For the price this helmet costs I expected something that would blow me away over my $60 1Storm modular helmet that I bought off of Amazon and, well, that wow factor just wasn't there. I mean, maybe if I hadn't gotten a bobo'd helmet the first time, maybe if the sizing was accurate, maybe if my Harley had an n com system for me to use with this helmet, maybe if it had an Iron Man like heads up display in it (unrealistic I know, but it's about to be 2020 now and I'm still waiting on my hoverboard from 2015 so I'm getting a little impatient with the future being 5 years late), maybe if all those things weren't "things" then yeah, I guess I would have been blown away by the wow factor of my Nolan helmet. If I had to do it all over again though, I might would have taken a really hard think about dropping $330 on this lid.... Show more

Wide field of view. Removable chin piece. Quality materials.
I've owned some HJC helmets and finally decided to spend more money on a lid. I wear a size XXL. The XXL HJC helmets were too short front-to-back and would crease my forehead and hurt after an hour or so. The XXL Nolan is longer in that dimension and is far more comfortable for me. This helmet has the best peripheral vision/widest field of view of any full-face helmet I've owned. The removable chin piece is an interesting idea, but I tend to just leave it at home. It's not as easy to use as a modular helmet in that regard but it's there if you want it. This helmet is a good example of how paying more gets you better materials, finishes, and functionality....
